Well its been now 6 months since i resigned Etihad as a cabin crew, and move back home.
I will only speak about my own experience and what i think personally, others might agree or disagree....
Its difficult to explain exactly how it feel to be back from the bubble called etihad and being a cabin crew in UAE.
First when i came home i was very happy to be home and i felt i had made the best choice fallowing my heart and i would never want to look back again.
In the beginning all i thought of was to be home and be with my family and friends.
Than after 1 month reality hit me.
To be completely honest its 50-50 for me, of what i miss from my time in UAE as a crew with Etihad and being back home.
From traveling the world, one night in Paris, another night in New York and another night in Sidney to ...that ordinary lifestyle back home....has actually been pretty difficult...
Its like you have this amazing lifestyle than something stops and takes you back to page 1 again....weird, very weird...
Such a change....coming from a complete different world to another world.
I thought i was done, completely done from that world.....but thats not the truth.
Its difficult living this ´´ordinary - normal - day to day´´ life....
The lifestyle we had in UAE is very luxurious compared to the lifestyle we might normally have at home ´´where ever that may be´´
Spending nights in 5 star hotels, visiting countries people would dream of, being able to do things we only would dream of doing,,,,,,
To go back to a normal life where things like that isnt free anymore...cause a lot of things was free for us crew. Than it became a habit of living a life like that....getting everything we wanted...to not having it all and not getting anything and having to work sooo hard for everything.
Its such a change...and i think mentally it hits you hard....but i had to find a balance....from all of this.....
Knowing that, that life wasnt going to last forever.....most people work as a crew with etihad few years and move on. Being a cabin crew with etihad might not be a lifelong career so to speak. Its completely different how it was with Etihad than it would be for example European airlines or whatever....cause for European airlines its a career. People in ex European airlines when they finish work as crew, come home at the end of the day, when we etihad crew, didnt came home to home so to speak....
I do miss flying for the best parts of it, the destinations, the moments you had a wonderful crew with you and we all had a blast, the moment a passenger thanked you extra cause you had done something special for them, the amazing hotels we stayed at, the feeling at the end of the months when you had gotten amazing layovers on your roster, feeling proud to be a cabin crew when walking through the airports and everyone looking at us which was such a cool feeling..
the friends and the adventures we had together, the fact you had grown so much as a person, the things you learned and discovered... and there is more,,, so much more...
To be a part of that company and work as a crew for Etihad will always be one of the best things i ever done in my life....or had the chance to do....
Imagine being chosen by so many applicants and than getting this job, is such a personal success in itself....and a sense of feeling proud of yourself...a privilege!!!
Not everyday do you get chosen to get a job, which is with one of the best companies in the world...
so thats cool...
But than it ends, we return to our home countries...with memories in ur baggage...
Of the colorful amazing life we had in the past.....
Its very difficult i think to travel around the world and do what we did as crew, and learn so much, live such a fast life...than come home and everyone seem to be the same....everything look the same....YET i feel i have changed and no one understand this feeling or journey until they been in my shoes....
i read this article about people who travel and come home that they get some kind of ´´reversed cultural chock´´...
i feel i experienced that and still experiencing that.. but again we need to move on in life...and not live in the past and find exciting new roads ahead of us....
I have to admit i would love to RELIVE the moments again....but not as a cabin crew...perhaps as something else....
But it is indeed very difficult to find that balance of accepting this is my lifestyle now, and the glamorous life i had in the past will always be a cherished memory...
Stories i can share with my grandchildren one day :-)
But at the end of the day regardless of what i had or did or what it was, its a closed chapter in my life....and im totally blessed to had a chance to live and experience such thing.
....i think if i didnt resign etihad perhaps that new path wouldnt be found.....who knows....cause i feel i have found a new path i never knew about before and never thought of before.....so im excited about the future....
I think the things we do, always lead us to another path WHICH IS MEANT TO BE AND IS THE PLACE WE NEED TO BE.....there is no coincidents in life i think..thats my personal thought...
even if that place isnt a place we might like, but i think that will open doors to another place where we need to be at the end!!
we all have a purpose in life, and things do happens for a reason i believe..
we all have a purpose in life, and things do happens for a reason i believe..
Life is only going to get better, we just need to remain faithful and positive and go after our dreams and make them ours....and never giving up!!! we totally deserve it i think!!!! :-)
A journey with Etihad i will never ever forget.
I have been working for etihad for two years and found your blog when googling etihad resignantion. I will be resigning in two weeks. Part of me if thinking I should stick it out because I can save and the benefits are good . But to be honest I'm so sad and depressed. The Middle East is crap, the company is so stressful and strict and never appreciate our work, the hours are dreadful and some of The crew are horrible. It's time to leave and while I get the reasons you miss the job, the negative far out way the positives don't you think? The job becomes your life and that is a sign its time to get out
ReplyDeleteHi dear...
Deletewell done for enduring the 2 years!!! u should be so proud..i couldnt take it longer than 1 year...lol
but good luck in 2 weeks when u will resign...im happy ur following ur heart and what u want...sometimes we need to listen to our inner voice....and when its time to go its time to go....
today i dont miss the job at all.....but i do miss the lifestyle and the money and friends i had over there ect....the travelings ect...the good stuff...i dont miss the bad stuff at all...
but again all jobs have good and bad sides...
but well done for listening to urself and doing this
wish you all the best on your future adventures...!
Take care
Me again. Thank you for your kind words. It's exactly what I needed to hear. My parents and friends back home are telling me to stay but they don't understand the working environment and the stress I'm under.
ReplyDeletepart of me is sad to be loosing the benefits and the whole idea of being a glamorous fa , but it's not glamourous at all.
I look back on my two years and am thankful for them. This job changed me positively by seeing how lucky I am to have what I have back in my home country. While I wouldn't chnage the last two years . It is time to go, I can't handle etihad anymore. I know so many crew who feel this way but cannot leave because they have nothing else to go to, so I feel lucky.
One question, being my last month can you recommend anything I should do before I leave ? What are something's that you wish you had done before you left ? And how did you make closure with the company and Middle East? And leave in a way that made you not regret your decision or want to come back?
Hi dear....
DeleteYou know we are lucky that we have a home to go back to, we are lucky that there is a life after this..
while i also know a lot of coworkers and crew who desperately need to resign and dont want to do this...but doing it cause they have no choice...
im so sad about that....
but i guess we all have different lives....
my family and friends said the same thing....like why i will come back and im having such a good life over there...when i explained no one understood...
i dont think no one will understand the anxiety pressure stress from this job...until themselves will be in our shoes....
but i resigned anyway....cause i was unhappy at that time...and we owe it to ourselves to not go mental and do things that is healthy for us..and no one else....
but a new chapter in ur life is waiting for u..though.....
and its a new beginning....listen to urself...and follow what u need to do....
lets see.. what i wish i had done before i left was actually to do a desert safari i never got the chance to do this lol....but hopefully i can do this once i travel back one day in the future...just for travels...
also to go to Al Ain, and visit the biggest garden or whatever they have there...and zoo....they have one of the biggest gorgeous gardens over there also zoo....but again i never got to do this....its actually cheap to take the buss over to al ain...i dont know if u ever done this....or not...
i wish i could have been able to save more money though and not waste so much heheeeheheh
i think other than this i dont have anything i feel i didnt do...or wished to do....
but u know....after i came home....like 6 months after i kind of felt i missed being a cc..and i attended this ek assessment day heehhe but got rejected heheehh but i think i had to do this to get this out of my system....to have a closure....cause its a shock to come back though....to the mind i think.....i had to do that to understand and see OK ITS OVER NOW.....
although now almost 1 year later....i never ever want to be a cc again....its a finished chapter now......lol
and how i made closure with the company and middle east....
well im not finished with uae...as i would love to travel there again...ect....
but once i knew i was done IT WAS DONE....when i put something in my mind there is no turning around or back...
i remember during the last weeks when i was working i felt i was serving while my mind and soul was somewhere else...i felt i dont belong in there anymore...and its time to go...i couldnt smile anymore either...i could cry before flights not wanting to fly hehehheeh
im not regretting my choice and never did.....i might miss some stuff but i never regret i did this...
the thing i know is...this was THAN and its finished now...now im excited for new adventures in life and new doors open...
it was easy for me to find a job after this..in my home country having etihad on my cv...so that was cool....
thats nice knowing we got something nice from that company heheeeh
but at the end of the day, when my soul was rejecting that job and i felt i cant go...i kept calling sick too at the end...and i knew its time to go......
i think it comes a time for all of us regardless situation....there are signs too which we need to listen to or see.....
take careeeee dear...have a nice day
oxoxo
Thank you it's just what I needed to hear. Just wondering , was it hard doing that checklist at the end in order to leave? I want to be in my home country about 10 days after I finish my last day. Also, I heard for some crew it was a problem getting their final pay, did this happen for you?
ReplyDeleteHi...
Deleteno it wasnt hard doing the exit thingy..stressful yesssss
.there was tons of stuff that needed to be done but i did it all during 4 days...it can be done within 2 days too, a friend of mine did it in 2 days....
its a lot of running around and waiting around hehheeh
but as one thing is signed and ticked off, it felt like a huge mountain lifted off my shoulders....
so doing that check list is kind of a closure too....
as for the final pay, no it was no problems actually....i got it 1 week after i landed home in my bank account...so it was no issues for me.....
take care
Hello :) ,
ReplyDeleteI have started reading your blog recently and has been an inspiration :)
I have received an e-mail from Etihad mentioning that my F.I was successful and now waiting for the "golden" call! I am excited and scared at the same time! I have read that so many people want to leave though and that ,makes me sad before even going there. Is the control of the cabin crew so strict? will I be able to have a private life? or it will be just work? I have many many questions and I am a bit lost..I would really apreciate it if someone who has seen it all coulg give me some info! Thank you so much :) I wish you all the best!!
hi dear eva i have emailed u back...check ur inbox when u have time...thank u and take care xxxx
DeleteThank you so much for your answer :))))!!
ReplyDeleteHi! I was wondering if u could tell me which destinations are layover and which are turnarounds? I am joining soon and am just trying to wrap my head around things. Also, do we get "care packages" with essentials such as towels amd things when we arrive? Sorry. So random, but just want to be prepared!
ReplyDeleteHi dear
Deletefirst congratulations for joining soon wish u the best
as for layovers and turnaround...every destination that is longer than 4 hours will be a layover....there might be 1-3 destination that etihad fly to that might be 5 hours and it might be a turnaround..but any place that it takes longer than 4 hours to fly u can consider this to be a layover...
ex of turnarounds would be cities near abu dhabi...ex kuwait, doha, cairo, jeddah, istanbul, tehran and some other indian cities near by ect ect
and layovers are the rest....
yes u guys will be given a big welcome package when u arrive in ur accommodation...
it has everything for the kitchen, several towels, everything for ur bed (pillows ,sheets, bed linens, duvet ect ) + few clothes hangers ect...
for the kitchen part ur set,,,
they wont give u guys hair dryer though, although u can find cheap once over there...wc rolls wont be there so i suggest u to take with u at least 1 roll...than u can buy the rest there...
u guys will have a washing machine but they wont give u guys the washing machine powder, that u have to buy urself over there....
most probably u guys will have a ironing board left from the previous roomie...most probably a vacuum cleaner will be left there too from the previous roomie
most often when someone leave, they will leave tons of stuff behind them...when i moved in the previous roommate who left had left pretty much a lot of stuff....i visited tons of my batchmates accommodation too and it was the same for them....
if u have any further question about anything let me know :-)
have a lovely day
xxxx
Thank you so much for the reply! That helped a lot!! :)
Deletehey there,
ReplyDeletei absolutely love your blog and everything that you write. I just completed my second supi flight for etihad and the feelings are so mixed and confused. I am feeling grateful that I am part of this company but in the other hand I am so anxious and scared and I have not even started my operating flights. I heard that in your flights you are going to be a galley operator for example and I feel that I have no idea what to do. Everything is so different between the training we had in the academy and the real life in a flight.
Again congratulations for your blog, you are amazing and inspiring.
xxx
hi dear...
Deletethank u so much for being so sweet and kind...appreciate it....
regarding how ur feeling...thats totally normal/natural to have these emotions dear...ur only human...and when we face changes like this ...of course its scary...i was dead scared during my first flights and the galley thingy ect...but with time i assure u...it will get better...u will find ur own routine and u will find ur comfort zone and get used to things
everything in life at the beginning are scary and difficult..and thats ok
this is how u will learn and grow!!!
see this as a positive thing...that ur learning,,,growing...becoming stronger
and know those feelings everyone felt them....in the beginning.....
give it some time dear...and u will see how things will feel better.....
congratulations to u dear for completing the training and everything
wish u all the best
good luck
enjoy ur summer
xxxx
darling,
ReplyDeletehow are you now ? wish everything goes well with u after this long time. actually i really feel what u felt at that time now, i fell so stressed and sad before every flight and i miss my family so much , this job is much more different than i thought before but i learned a lot from it as well... im thinking about resignation as well, but im still in my probation, im so confused. could u tell me some details about how to do it ?
Dear guijing i just came by quickly to tell u that i will write tons more for u tomorrow or on sunday as im out of town... Have a lovely day today hugsss xxx
Deletethank you lovely! i just called sick today.......without certificate im now thinking about how to figure this out...haha, anyway, have a nice day and im looking foward to hear from you. xoxo
Deletedear Guijing Liu
Deletehope ur well sweety...finally i cant write for u...
the first signs i felt when i noticed I NEED TO RESIGN was the exact feelings u wrote for me...about u feeling sad before each flight and stressed ect...i even felt depressed and called sick for no reason...just to not go to work...thats a big sign to me when we are unhappy about our job and we need to RESIGN asap...because if we keep doing something when we are unhappy that will create a unhealthy toxic cycle.... and can lead to so many negative emotions and all....if we can change our jobs and become happier or do something else WHY NOT CHOSE THAT PATH right?
of course different situations is different and unique ect....
so about how to resign...
what i did was first i emailed my Performance Manager and i wrote that i have made the decision to resign and i wish to resign xxx date...and its because of personal reasons i wrote....than the next day my PM called me so we spoke about this..than my pm made all the important calls...and contacted all the departments...i think he sent me a email...a so called ´´to do list´´ exit list...what i needed to do....
it was everything about me handing in all my uniform and stuff to the uniform department....handing in the manuals and all in HQ...signing tons of papers in various departments...leaving my id´s and other cards....so u just follow each step...from this list...
also u have to call the accommodation person and make a appointment for this person to come and do a control of ur room and the place so he/she can see no damage has been done ect.....
so u do all of these one by one...its a longgg annoying list to do lol...
its actually doble to do all of these within 1 week only.....i even know a friend who did this all in 2 days....it took me 1 week to do all of these....
so ur step would be to email ur pm....than go from there...
i hope this helped dear
and i wish u all the best
good luck with everything...and enjoy ur summer
hugsssssssss
You are soooooo sweat, i really appreciate your.words and that do help a lot. yes im already emailed my PM about this, i havent said a lot in the email, just i wish to resign, and i will go to her office to talk about this tomorrow, actually im a little bit stressed because i still in my probation and i really dont know what she will say to me,.i think i have to let her know im already made up my mind, right? maybe i can tell her.my feellings. i have read antoher blog of yours as well i remember there was a girl who replied you said she wanna resign within probation as well, and you guys talked about if there will be a charge or not , thats my concern as well ., and as you said is that we can choose the date to resign? exp if i want to resign from tomorrow, is that possible?
Deletesweetyyy by the way i forgot to mention to u that while ur still on ur probation period, people who resign before their probation period is finished they have to pay some amount of money...dont know how much..so talk about this to ur pm as well...
Deleteand yeah we dont need to write much in the resignation letter to our pm...i wrote like 3 lines lol
i didnt even meet with my pm when i resigned...i only had email and phone contact with him...
and i didnt explain much about my feelings...more about the procedure of resigning....
yes we can chose whatever date to resign..but it should be at least 1 week ahead though... or few days ahead...so the crew control people/ crew planners have time to fix ur flights and remove them ect...
i think 1 week is alright....but check this with ur pm...rules regulations might have changed....since i worked there
what i remember from my own resignation was that i chose 1 week ahead....and i was than on the plane off to home within 3 weeks from the time i wrote to my pm about my resignation...
good luck dear....
but i hope the fee u have to pay to resign before ur probation period is over wont be much :-/
sending u tons of hugsss ur way
take care dear
xxx
Dear ccdreamer,
Deletethank you for ur perfect answers, u are soo sweet and helpful, im already talked with my pm and im gomna resign on 5th AUG, yes ive asked about the reimbursment that i have to pay the company, but she said shes not sure about the amount..... actually its headache for me because i will finish my probatiom on 23th of Aug, its not very long period from my resign date, but since im already decide, i just hope it wont be a big amount ....
but thank u soo much
Dear Guijing!
Deletewell done for doing it all...and i wish u all the best on 5th of august....i totally understand that once we decide to resign we want to finish NOW
and move on....
oh i didnt know ur probation period will finish 23rd of aug...so from 5th to 23aug its not long...so i hope the amount u have to pay wont be too much...or perhaps who knows dear u might not even had to pay anything cause its so close to ur probation period....who knows
soon u will finish this chapter in ur life
and begin a new one
on to new adventures in life <3 <3
with u a wonderful beginning in ur life
good luck darling
god bless u

Hello! This is Amy. I am about to join Etihad next month. I have been a cabin crew for a year in another airline. I enjoyed this life but I resigned because I was not very happy with the salary and fellow crew members. The seniors were really tough on us.
ReplyDeleteI hope this is not the case in Etihad Airways?
I wanna ask how much will I earn approximately during the first 6 months?
And if by any chance I don't find myself comfortable in Etihad. Can I resign after 6 months with a 1 month notice without any hassle? I mean I hope I wouldn't have to pay any cost/money to Etihad.
I am excited yet scared to join Etihad. But I am hoping good. :)
hi dear amy hope all is well with u
Deletecongrats on joining etihad soon well done for scoring this job....
as for strict rules and working with various crew members...u will 100% experience this...cause as u already know being a cc urself...we work with 1000 people everyday...new day new people....new seniors ect....some teams are wonderful to work with..some arnt....
its like every job in the world when it comes to working with good and bad people....
so u will 100% come across wonderful amazing teams when working on board with etihad...and of course u will come across not so good once too...but i would say the % of working with amazing teams is higher way higher.... :-)
it is strict company to work with too...but u will get used to it..and find ur own routine...in this company
i dont remember dear how much we earned during the 3 months ect...what i do remember is what my salary looked like after 3 months and flying normally and had a normal flying schedule which was approx: 1400euros to 2200 euros/ month
depending on roster and where we flew to
yes after 6 months when finished with ur probation period u can resign with 1 month notice.....
u only pay when u resign before 6 months....before ur probation is finished....
so after 6 months ur free to leave :-)
but as u enjoy this lifestyle as a cc im sure u will love working for etihad as well
good luck dear...wish u the best
good night
xoxoxox
Hello. This is kristine. Im also a cc from another airline and im just wondering if i could apply walk-in in auh? Or would they prefer applying for the open day? I hope i can do walk in cause its hard for me to request my days off for the exact open day of their recruitment. By the way i like your blog thanks for sharing. I just want to experience etihad thats why i want to transfer. The way you felt when you left etihad is what im feeling right now.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Kristine...hope ur well.....
DeleteEtihad have both walk in/open day and assessment days....people can chose to attend whatever they like....so u can chose what u feel is right for u.....
but i advice for people to apply online for assessments...cause thats a faster way to assessment and no need for open days ect...
i hope u get the chance to work for etihad and move to abu dhabi....
good luck dear kristine

Hello Kristine!
ReplyDeleteI'm about to join Etihad as Cabin Crew next month. I have signed the offer letter. But now I am having second thoughts. Is there still any way I can call it off? Or can I ask the management to give me any ground job?
My family insists working on ground so it will give me a chance to give time to my family and friends.
Hi dear Kristine
Deleteim sorry you have second thoughts about this job....i guess we should do what feels right for us.
you just need to email the HR person who contacted you, or contact anyone who you were in touch with your application. I dont know if they would offer ground position during such situation, as i never came across anyone in your situation.
But i advice you to contact the HR person who emailed you or call back on the number you got they will cancel the offer or give more info what you could do ect.
good luck with everything
have a lovely saturday

hi!
DeleteI'm in the same sistuation... how did your end? :)
Thank you very much!!
have a nice day! :)
Hello!
ReplyDeleteIts Amy here. I am soon gonna be joining Etihad. Just waiting for them to send me the visa and everything... yeah its kinda excited. :D
But I still have to do the dental xray and vaccinations they have asked me for. Do they ask everyone for it? :/
Also I wanted to ask if my mom can come to my accommodation some time in Etihad. Do they allow this?
hello dear amy
Deletehope ur well
congratulations dear amy for scoring the job...well done...so exciting...
when i joined few years back we only had to do the dental xray at home...and bring the xray with us to abu dhabi....we could do the medicals at home too but it wasnt necessary..because it will all be done for free in abu dhabi...during ur medical exams....but things could have changed....today....so perhaps u guys have to do certain medical stuff in ur home country......
yes ur family members are allowed to come and visit u....but mothers/sisters are only allowed to stay in ur room for certain amount of time.....while brothers/fathers arnt allowed to sleep over...only visit..and has to leave after 1am....
good luck dear...wish u the best amy

Hello. I'm joining Etihad by the end of this month!
ReplyDeleteI want to ask, in the 6 weeks training program.. we will be wearing everything in black. And Etihad won't provide the clothes for the training. Right?
I am aware of the fact that accommodation will be provided to us but does it include the meals too?
Does the accommodation has a free Wi-Fi? And TV ect?
How much money should I bring approx. for the training? And is the Training Allowance will be given in the beginning of the training or at the end?
And one very important Q: We will be trained for which aircrafts? I have been flying 777s, A310s, A320s, 737s. I heard Etihad got the new A380s. Will we get a chance to fly A380s right after the training? :D
Are the instructors very tough during the Training?
Is there anyone who fails the training and sent back?
I have also heard the Etihad does not let you visit your home country for at least 6 months time? Is it true? Will I not be allowed to visit my home country?
And about the concessionary travel. How much is it? And how often can we use it?
And lastly, whats the environment like in Etihad? I am not a party person... I hope no male crew, whether cabin crew or cockpit crew cross the limits or you know tries to embarrass you at times?
If there any crew member married to another crew member?
Is the accommodation close to market?
hi dear
Deletecongratulations for scoring this job well done...u must be so excited!!!!
so to ur questions::::::
I want to ask, in the 6 weeks training program.. we will be wearing everything in black?
---
during the first 4 weeks u guys will be wearing all black...until they finished with ur uniforms, which they will after approx 4 weeks and than u guys will wear the uniform during the rest of the training
---
And Etihad won't provide the clothes for the training. Right?
--
yeah u guys have to bring with u the black pants, black skirts, the white shirt and black cardigan or jacket...etihad wont provide this
---
I am aware of the fact that accommodation will be provided to us but does it include the meals too?
-----
etihad will give u guys meal allowance during the 6-7 weeks of training.....but no meals other than that....u guys have to buy ur own food beside from this....
----
Does the accommodation has a free Wi-Fi? And TV ect?
---
there is a tv yes...if u arrive to the flat and u already have a previous roomate there ...than she probably have fixed the internet..so u guys will split the cost for the internet...etihad wont provide this...if u arrive and there is no roomate u have to buy this urself..until ur roomate comes and u guys split the cost....
----
How much money should I bring approx. for the training? And is the Training Allowance will be given in the beginning of the training or at the end?
----
i brought with me approx 7000aed for pocket money....which was more than enough ´+ etihad wil give u guys meal allowance + some pocket money....dont know how much this is today....and dont remember now how much it was back than....the meal allowance and the pocket monet will be given to u guys the first week of training...
----
And one very important Q: We will be trained for which aircrafts? I have been flying 777s, A310s, A320s, 737s. I heard Etihad got the new A380s. Will we get a chance to fly A380s right after the training? :D
-----
Deletein year 2011&2012 when i worked we were trained on B777, A320,A319, A330, A345, A346...yeah i heard today the new A380 will be coming...i think the new joiners is getting training on this..and as soon as it will be starting u all will be working on them....it doesnt matter in etihad if ur a new joiner or a senior...everyone fly everywhere and on all aircrafts...
----
Are the instructors very tough during the Training?
---
i felt they were yes....some might have a different view...but for me i thought most of them were strict....
----
Is there anyone who fails the training and sent back?
---
lol i failed few times myself..but got many chances to re-do exams ect....but never got sent home.....i dont know anyone who got sent home...because we truly get manyyy chances....ex if we fail exams ect we get bumped to previous batches ect ect....lol im terrible at exams/studies...as i dislike to study lol.....so if i made it so can everyone i feel heheheeh
----
I have also heard the Etihad does not let you visit your home country for at least 6 months time?
---
when i worked after 3 months when i joined i took 10 days off and flew back home.....i have a friend in etihad who joined this summer ..she flew to some country for vacation for 5 days...during her probation time....so i people are free to do whatever they want ...when it comes to this question of urs...
---
And about the concessionary travel. How much is it? And how often can we use it?
---
i assume u mean the discount tickets....we get id90 and id50....we can use them anytime of the day and whenever...and i used them a lot...for myself and friends and family...oh by id50 i mean u get 50% off from tickets...and id90 is 90% off.....
---
And lastly, whats the environment like in Etihad? I am not a party person... I hope no male crew, whether cabin crew or cockpit crew cross the limits or you know tries to embarrass you at times?
---
its really professional and people are allowed to do whatever they like and enjoy....no one forces u to do anything....but yeah a lot of crew party hard, dont know why that is...lol u will notice urself when u go there........but there is other things to do beside that too....the private time crew have...everyone choses how they spend it....
---
If there any crew member married to another crew member?
-----
yeah there are actually....we also have married crew who have families back home ect.....
----
Is the accommodation close to market?
----

You are the best. Thanks for answering all my Qs. Loads of love for you :)
ReplyDeleteHello :) that blog is amazing, not only ur posts but also all the comments r helping us a lot!
ReplyDeleteWell, I hoped I could be part of Etihad family. I even got the successful mail but now, waiting over 3 months for DOJ makes me feel they can refuse me even tho I got clearances and was even offered doj that they cancelled and after one month put me on hold with other ppl that wait even 5 months. It is so stressful seeing that people from recent assessment days get their doj while we r being told there r bo trainings available...do u think I still have chances to get my DOJ? Or should I start looking for a real job...oh, I don't want to drop my dream as I got so far!
Take care, all best!
hi dear tom
Deletethank you for your kind words dear :-)
hope all is well with u
this situation ur having right now, is a thing that has been going on this year it seems...ur not the only one going through this....before the joining process with etihad used to be so quick....today they are buying tons of new aircrafts and the new A380 is coming too so they are hiring 100000 new crew...which they didnt as much before...
so the joining process with etihad has changed a lot of people are waiting for so long now.....and i heard they are building new accommodations too for new crew.....and many new joiners are put in hotels the first few weeks because they dont have enough accommodation yet...
but it varies from applicant to applicant....and they have various recruiters in the HR office in abu dhabi that takes care of the joining process for each group ect....so its all up to them...
so there is tons of stuff that creates this long delayyy :-( which is frustrating i bet....
what i advice you is to email your HR from time to time...to ask about a update regarding ur application....
BUT 100% DONT GIVE UP YET.....
if i were u, i would start applying for others jobs in ur city,,,to be busy while ur waiting....
but yeah this situation is crazy and upsetting for those involves.....but its a reality that etihad is being hit by.....their joining process is becoming similar to ek.....people wait for ages.....
but nothing to do than wait and not give up.....it all will be worth it....
think positive dear tom and fingers crossed soon u will be given ur e-ticket and visa to start ur new job with etihad....
wishing u all the best
good luck
take care

Thank u hun! For all ur support and kindness! Part of me still belives EY gonna push my application to the final stage...but just in case next week I am attending EK assessment event, I thought I would not have to do it all over again...anyway I gonna try to apply for a part time job as I get back from my assessment...it is hard when u just wait and ask yourself thousands of questions :) I will let you all know what will happen with me.
DeleteHoping for the happy ending! Today it is a new week starting in UAE so there r chances!!!
Enjoy ur day, thank you for such a quick response

dear Tom
Delete100% ur doing the right way in attending this ek ad next week...good luck dear....good to have a plan B C D E F G lol in case things doesnt go the way we want...cause we never know with these airlines....
but still dont give up....
but wanted to wish u good luck with ek ad....
fingers crossed for everything for u

Hello. I will joining etihad next month. Just have few Qs.
ReplyDeleteWhen they call us for the training to abu dhabi... is etihad going to pick up and take us to the accomodation?ive heard during training you dont get the separate bedrooms.is it true
during training...can i visit my friends in dubai on weekends?
and once we join as cc... can we go to our's friends in sharjah and dubai on off days?
are we paid for the training in the beginning of the training or when we complete it?
is the meal going to be provided during the training?
i will be thankful if you aswer these qs... love ya
hi dear hope ur doing well
Deleteand congratulations that u will join etihad next month...wish u all the best
regarding your questions:::::
When they call us for the training to abu dhabi... is etihad going to pick up and take us to the accomodation?
---
yes, when u arrive to the airport, u go to this customer service desk just outside and report that u have arrived and then they will call for a driver for u that will drive u to the flat/ hotel....i have heard that the new joiners will stay in hotels during the first weeks because of lack of accomodation...ect...but i dont know how it will be now for u guys....so lets see
---
ive heard during training you dont get the separate bedrooms.,.is it true?
---
no...never....everyone get a room in the flat to themselves...i never heard of candidates sharing a bedroom.....even when they put them in hotels...they get separate rooms...
---
during training...can i visit my friends in dubai on weekends?
----
yes me and my friends did that all the time.....but i dont know what the rules say today....but still dubai is only 1h and 20min away from abu dhabi with bus/ taxi...so its so simple to just go..
-------
and once we join as cc... can we go to our's friends in sharjah and dubai on off days?
----
yes we did that all the time...not to sharjah though but to dubai....but if u guys have friends around...so yes u can do this...once again...rules regulations might have changed for new joiners today...but still no one knows what u do on ur free time....its not like u guys have to report in and out like qatar lol...
-----
are we paid for the training in the beginning of the training or when we complete it?
-----
u guys will get a meal allowance the 1st week u guys arrive...+ u will get the training salary at the end of each month i think....
----
is the meal going to be provided during the training?
---
u guys will be given meal allowance....so u can use this during the training....the rest u guys have to pay urselves...

good luck dear and have a lovely monday

Greetings,
ReplyDeleteI worked wih Emirates airline for 2 years and now I'm working in airline operation but I really misse working as a cabin crew and travel to 4 to 5 destinations every month and it's hard to adapt the office job anymore.
I got an interview withetihad as cabin crew and I don't know which better EY or EK I wanted to ask you if you can provide me info about etihad as package flying hours layovers grooming? Because in EK basic 4220 AED flying hours 58AED and if you want house allowence you can get 50K AED per year with 500 AED monthly for transportation. flying hours per month minimum 65 and maximum around 110 . grooming for men you need to be fully shaved or a moustache which is annoying . no clue why they don't accept a goatee. 30 days leave per year
thanks in advance :)
Hi dear
DeleteRegarding which company is better...i heard that etihad is a bit better than ek at the moment....ex our salary from training to flying was approx: 1400euros to 2200 euros.....i dont remember the exact numbers now about flying hours or housing allowance or anything else...as i resigned few years back...
anyhow i have a friend in ek and she and i talked a while back and we compared etihad with emirates and pretty much its similar...but the pay is a bit better with etihad..not much better but a little bit...
and yes males have to be clean shaved in etihad as well....the leave and all is the same as emirates too....
wishing u the best
good luck
have a lovely day

Hi dear,
ReplyDeleteI am shortly going to be applying for Etihad Airways. I am wondering what interview is like and how long it took to know if you got the job or not?
I have been cabin crew before for nearly 4 years with a domestic airline, but i would like to fly international now.
Is there any way you would fail your medical exam? What do you need to get done?
Do you need to pay for your medical exam and vaccinations?
Do you pay for your Visa?
What is the life style like? What is the night life and day life like? Did you make lots of friends?
Also, reading this blog has helped so much! Thank you for creating and taking the time to help all of us out. I hope life is treating you well and you have found exactly what path you are meant to be on. xxxxxxxxxx
hellooo dear...hope ur well
Deleteas for the questions u have:::::
I am wondering what interview is like and how long it took to know if you got the job or not?
---------
you can check this link where i have explained in detail how the recruitment process with etihad is...
http://cabincrewdreamer.blogspot.se/2012/03/etihad-airways-recruitment-process.html
also it depends with the timeline...from final interview to date of joining it can take anything from 1 month to 6 months.
Is there any way you would fail your medical exam? What do you need to get done?
-----
here is a etihad pre employment medical form and these are pretty much the stuff they will check during the medical exam in abu dhabi:::
http://view.samurajdata.se/psview.php?id=976b4946&page=1&all=1
the only thing you do in your home country is a dental xray...but u will get info about all of this when u do ur assessment and final interview....
u can also see in this paper...what is acceptable and whats not when it comes to our health and what etihad is ok with ect.....
Do you need to pay for your medical exam and vaccinations?
Delete-------------
u only pay for the dental xray in your home country...if u choose to do it in abu dhabi, they will take it from ur salary...but the rest will be done for free in abu dhabi....
Do you pay for your Visa?
--------
etihad will arrange a free working via for u....
------------
What is the life style like? What is the night life and day life like? Did you make lots of friends?
------------
u have a lot of choices to do whatever u wish..to a limit of course....there is a lot of night clubs in abu dhabi...and u have dubai just 1,5 h away...and crew get discount in a lot of clubs so it is just up to the person to enjoy :-)
and it is very easy to make a lot of friends because everyone is in the same boat like u, u have all the people in your batch, and u have all ur co workers on board...and each time u fly u get a new set of co workers...so u have chances to make new friends all the time...
:-)
i advice u to check this informative link:::::
http://cabincrewdreamer.blogspot.se/2015/04/dubai-flow-motion.html
here u can find more info about everything you wish :-) related to cc
wishing u the best on your etihad application
and good luck
take care

Hi darling ! I wanted to know do you know the amount by any chance if you resign before the end of the 6 months probation ?
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
hi dear
DeleteIn the Emirates crew contract they have written this::::::::::::
---
CREW WHO RESIGN BEFORE THE END OF PROBATION PERIOD MAY BE ASKED TO PAY RETENTION MONIES TOWARDS THE COST OF VISAS, MEDICAL EXPENSES, JOINING TICKET & TRAINING EXPENSES. THIS COULD SUM UP TO TOAL OF 8000 AED.
---------
And i think it must be similar for Etihad crew too...
So i assume the price is approx around that amount
Have a lovely day dear
:-)
Thank you so much for that info. How about with saudia airlines? I noticed that their uniform is so conservative , can i have a chance with that airline? I would try etihad when they give an schedule here in the phil. 😊 Godbless hope to fly with you soon 🙏🏼👆🏼✈️
ReplyDeleteno worries dear, whatever questions u have let me know :-)
Deleteas for saudi airlines...i have no clue about their requirements...the only thing i have seen is this job ad::::
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QpLWpm-SYXU/UonYMhecivI/AAAAAAAAAro/vLBBMYgqIDY/s1600/SAUDIA+new+advert+Print.jpg
im not sure if this is up to date or not...but here u can find little bit info about the requirements.
also i dont know if u heard about Flydubai or not.
but check their requirements:::::
http://careers.flydubai.com/jobs/cabin-crew-rome-italy-assessment-centre-556
if i would choose between saudi or flydubai, i would 100% choose flydubai.
do etihad for sure, but 100% do check flydubai as well!!!!
a former etihad co worker of mine resigned etihad and is now flying for flydubai..and she is enjoying it.
i wish u a blessed day
xoxo
Unfortunately flydubai doesnt have recruitment here in the phil.only EK QATAR and SAUDIA didnt know if etihad is also included ☹️ . Thank you so much hope to be one of this airlines soon 🙏🏼✈️
ReplyDeleteWith regard to etihad uniform are they required to have stockings? Is this part of the uniform?
