FAQs for Emirates Cabin Crew Applicants & Joiners

I  found this online written by someone who currently works for EK as cc...and this is written by her/him....
Unfortunately dont know who wrote this so i cant credit it....so Thank You to this person who wrote this!!!! Its very informative....

Frequently asked questions for Emirates Applicants & Joiners.

How long will it take for them to contact me?

Honestly it varies massively from person to person, some may wait 2 weeks and some may wait the full 8 before hearing anything from them. Don't compare your timeline to someone else's, you don't know what languages they speak or what skills and attributes they have that might have made Emirates want to snap them up!

My status is 'Application under review'

Simply means your file is being looked at.

My status is 'Approval in progress' does this mean i have the job?

Although this is a good sign and its headed in the right direction your file may also be rejected at this stage, it goes through numerous different departments for approval.

They have asked me for more photos is this a good sign?

Yes, your file is in Dubai and they are having a good look at it. Again don't take this to mean you have definitely got the job, but they like what they see, just want to see a little more.

I got an 'on hold email'

For most girls it will include the word successful - congratulations you have the job, the courses are just full and they are waiting for approval to set dates for new ones.

For guys, it does tend to be a different story, what you have to understand is that for a class there approximately 18 people and usually only 2 or 3 of those are guys. I have heard of guys getting 2 of these emails as well as reconfirmation of interest.

I can't log in, it says 'You will be contacted by your recruitment coordinator at the earliest'

Congratulations, do not leave your phone unattended until you get that Golden Call!

I still can't log into the portal?

Give it a couple of days and you will soon have access to the portal again.

When do Emirates work?

Sunday-Thursday,

What does the medical entail?

It is a checklist listing a million different medical issues ranging from if you have hay-fever to if you have ever had surgery.

Do i need to get my Doctor to cosign my medical?

No but if you want to, it won't hurt anyone.

What vaccinations do i need to have done?

The only vaccination you need to have done before you arrive in Dubai is Yellow fever the ones listed are Hep A, Hep B, Yellow Fever, BCG, ACWY, MMR, Polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Typhoid, you may have had some of these done before so you really just need to know the dates you had them and when you need  a booster. You can have them all done in Dubai (except the yellow fever) the cost will be taken from your pay cheque.

Do i need a chest X-ray?

No, this will be done again in Dubai regardless or whether you have had it done at home. It's a government regulation for the visa - they are checking for scaring from TB.

Do i need to have my bloods done?

Like the X-ray you do not need to have these done, the government will check for HIV and Syphilis once you arrive here. Emirates will also take bloods to check for various things, one being your hemoglobin count as it must be above 11. If you are worried about any have them done in your own country to be on the safe side.

Will i be drugs tested?

Yes you pee in a cup in the first week of induction. If you fail you might be held back a week for it to clear your system, or you might be sent home!

When will i find out my accommodation?

Usually the Sunday before you leave!

What is the accommodation like?

Varies from building to building, some are massive some are a little smaller. All will have a shared kitchen and lounge, you may or may not share a bathroom, your bedroom will have a king size bed, desk and chairs, drawers and a wardrobe. There is a pool and gym in all buildings. You will be given a starter box, details of which i believe are given to you before your final interview. Bedsheets etc are included but they are plain white, if you find room in your suitcase you can bring your own if not theres plenty of stores you can go buy some from, if you want to add color to make it feel more homely.

What do i wear to travel in?

Contrary to popular belief it is not business attire, the portal just states you need to look smart and well groomed

How much baggage can i bring?

You have an allowance of 50kg, not that i think anyone ever could, but you will need to split it into 2 bags minimum - the maximum a suitcase can weigh is 32kg, you are also allowed a cabin bag allowance of 7kg.

When do i start?

The Sunday after you get here, so you may only have a day to settle in.

My training start date is 10(ish) days after my join date?

You have 10 days of induction, this will include numerous lectures about the company and your medicals as well as your uniform fitting.

What time does training start?

There are 3 different training times which varies on the number of batches there are

7.30-15.30, 12.30-20.30, 15.30-23.30.

What do i wear on my first day?

Business attire! Ladies you do not have to wear a skirt, and i would advise against wearing heels as you walk about quite a bit, you will be given 2 red polo shirts that day which you will wear from there on, definitely advisable to bring more than 1 pair of black trousers and a cardigan (they love air conditioning a little too much)

Is there anything should I definitely bring?

Stockings! and lots of them you are required to wear them under your black trousers.

Hair grips, your hair needs to be immaculate.

Black shoes, they have to be plain black no visible detailing.

Do i need a specific lipstick?

A lot of girls wear Russian Red or Ruby Woo by MAC but as long as its "Emirates Red" any brand will do.

Do i have to have my nails done?

Your nails can be an Emirates red, french manicure or natural with just a clear nail polish.

How do the guys have to look?

You need to shave every single morning, if you have stubble they will pull you up on it, hair neat with not too much hair product.

How much money should i bring?

Entirely up to you, you are given a cash advance which is half your salary - 2000 AED plus an appliance allowance of 500 AED. I would advise bringing money if for nothing else but a safety net.  Emirates payday is around the 26th of the month,

How do i get a phone number?

You will be given a copy of your passport and visa back whilst you're in induction, there are 2 providers in Dubai - Etisilat and Du, both of which i believe have stalls in headquarters and will be happy to assist you.

How do i set up a bank account?

A few of the banks come to the college in payday week and will help you set up a bank account without your Passport but will need to see it when you get it back. You will probably get a phone call from someone asking you if you have set one up, never give out your details only accept phone calls when you have made initial contact with the bank.

Do i need a laptop?

No, there are computers available for you to use so you can do your E-learning at headquarters and at the training college, it might be nice to have one for you to watch movies etc in bed, and for you to gain access to the portal from for your mail etc…..beware the portal doesn't particularly like MacBooks and Safari though.

Will I have internet in my apartment? If not how long will it take to get?

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how long your flatmate has been in the country and if they have decided to get it. If not you have to wait until you get your passport and visa back which is a little over a month after your join date. There are internet cafés etc

Plugs/Adapters?

Here in the UAE the plugs are the same as they are in the UK with the 3 pin/a Type G plug

Can family visit during the probation period?

This is such a grey area. During probation you cannot take leave, so you don't know if you would be around to see them is the only real downfall of it, the rosters are given to you around the 25th of each month for the following month, so if they booked it quite last minute if would be fine, if they booked in quite far ahead and then you found out you had say a DXB>SIN>SYD>CHC>SYD>SIN>DXB which is an 8 day trip you wouldn't see them at all. I know of people who have had family come after 4 months of being here. I am unsure on the official policy.

Am i allowed people to stay at my apartment?

You are allowed 60 days worth of non emirates staff to stay at your apartment, but you need to have your roommate and your manager sign a form to give you permission.

Can my boyfriend/girlfriend come stay at my apartment?

Officially no they are not allowed to stay with you, I know a lot of staff say its their 'cousin' though.

If you date a resident of Dubai they have to leave your building by 1am, if they stay longer you will be issued with a warning.

What is the policy with alcohol?

Dubai is a Muslim country and it abides to muslim rules,  you need an alcohol license which you can apply for once you get your residents visa. You need to carry it with you when you go out - if you are stopped by the police are intoxicated you will need to show them and if you do not have it on you, you could be arrested or fined. Alcohol is also expensive to buy in bars etc once you start flying you will probably be stocking your suitcase up with it.

    1. Hi dear....hope ur well..

u mean that u applied for a assessment or open day with ek? and u got this status in ur portal?

if u mean u applied for a ad and ur file went to ´´ under review´´ .....and it was like this for a long time...

this actually happened to me last year...cause it was like this for more than 3 months... the same status u got..
i just went to a open day..and i made it to assessment as well...during that day....

if i were u i would just attend a open day if ur status has been like this more than 3 months...
cause they say wait and within 3 months they will invite u or something....after 3 months its good to go and attend a open day or reapply again....

hope this shed some light over your question.....GOOD LUCKKKK

    2. hello cabin crew i need to know what the difference between complete status and interview complete status since my final interview was at 14 october and my freinds changing their status to interview completed its complicated and please any explanation ??

    3. Hi dear ahmad!

regarding ur question...... i keep hearing from various people that:::::

Completed: means::::: Interview finished (u get this after u did ur interview)

      than comes this:::

Interview completed::::: means::::: Approval in progress

and each candidate has a unique timeline...so for some these status may take weeks to change for some days...ect....

      wishing u all the best

    4. Dear Cabincrewdreamer,

I applied online back in february, on March 19th my status change to "Submission complete" that same day i received an invitation to an OD and told that i should bring the invitation letter with me to the OD.

How is it possible to get this status after my interview was completed if i did not have any interview yet?

Thanks a lot for your help!!!

    5. dear Natyim
that is very weird that u got this status...but i bet its a mix up with the system...sometimes it happens
but i advice u to ignore it and attend this open day and WHEN u do your final interview, then tell the recruiters about this status...just to inform them about it.....and im sure they will change it after few days...
      nothing to worry about...
      good luck dear..
      have a lovely day

  2. Hi there, great blog, congrats.

I have a question that I haven't been able to find online yet. I'm planning to go to open house the Saturday but I have one concern about the medical coverage. I have Multiple Sclerosis, so I need to take medication as a treatment. Do you know of the health insurance cover this type of medication. So do you think my disease will be a problem if I pass the interviews?

    Thank you so much

love ur name by the way, ella is such a cute name....
regarding Multiple Sclerosis, i actually have no idea regarding this question dear, as i never came across anyone having this or telling me about this...what i would do if i was u...i would do the open day, ad and final interview....and during the final interview they will ask you if you have any further questions...than i think u would ask them about this condition and that you have this and was wondering what the rules apply for this ect.....
im not sure now but i think those who make it to the finals...will get a medical form to fill in....so perhaps there u can declare this...so they would know...
also what you can do is to post your question on cabincrew.com forum....
i bet folks there would know more than i know...
sorry dear i wont be able to help you with this....
but i do wish u the best and hope whatever dreams wishes and hopes u have would be fulfilled...

  3. Hey hunnie, i hope your doing well :D another great post. i just keep getting endless information from here and I'm really greatful for that. I have a question which is really important to me. It says above that if I date a resident of Dubai, they can stay until 1am. Well, i would want my boyfriend to stay with me sometimes. Do you think there is any other problem other than the timing??

and also can I sometimes leave my accommodation and stay with him??

    looking forward for your reply.
    Thanks.

im glad u find this informative and it can help u get prepared ect..
regarding the 1am rule...etihad also have this..both ek and ey have this...everyone can come and visit u and stay in ur apartment until 1am..than they have to go out....this is just the rules...BUT example if ur mother or sister came over they can stay in ur place for 1 month i think....as long as u and ur roommate agrees... there is a paper u guys have to sign...but when it comes to bf´s...thats the only 1am rule they have.....no other issues...u can have anyone over anytime until 1am....
and YES 100% u can leave ur apartment whenever u want and stay over at whoever u want and come back whenever u want....there is no rule for u to go spend time wherever u want :-)
      have a great night dear....

  4. Hi Cabincrewdreamer,

Thanks so much for your blog, have learnt so much about everything :). My situation is quite confusing, I applied to attend an open day last month but by the time Emirates had processed my application it invited me to attend a different open day and gave me three different places to attend.

I wasn't sure if I had to reapply so I registered to attend an open day I had been invited to attend. On the portal I've got two applications one saying NOT SHORTLISTED and another one saying "under review"

Can you please help me? So confused!

    Thanks again! Xx

    1. hi dear....
      hope ur well
thank u for ur kind words..
regarding the different applications and shortlisted places ect....its not mandatory to attend any open day or assessment day that u get invited to or get a email from ek to attend...
it would be good though to email them back if u can to let them know ur sorry but cant attend ect...
but ur free to attend any open day and assessment day anywhere even if u got shortlisted to another place and u dont want to go there
and no worries with these 2 applications u have online which says not shortlisted and under review...
just register to the one ur going to
OR u could always create a new account and register for THAT open day or ad u wish to attend..although u dont have to register for a open day..everyone is welcome....if they dont write anything else....
people can start & create a new ek account if they wish to....nothing bad with this...but having tons of accounts might not be good but 1-2 accounts is ok...
wish u the best and good luck
      have a great day

    3. hi dear ..dont know if im too late to respond u or not...i dont know if u did attend it or not
but u can attend a open day if u like...but if u get successful to go further to assessment than u cant attend any open day or ad within 6 months....
but again u can choose to attend whatever u want....
wish u good luck take care lisi..

well what i have of experience of these things is each open day or file we apply for online for ek has different departments it seem...and different people handling our files....and it seems none of the folks know whats going on with other departments...
but u will most often get a email about these things...so if anything is happening they will update u with a email..as this stuff also happened to me....
example they will send u a email saying they saw u applied and want to invite u for a assessment but they will also inform u that if u already been to a open day or assessment within the 6 months ignore this email....ect ect
so just wait...and see what happens...
and as always try again after 6 months
      good luck dear.....xx

so someone can have AIP for weeks or months...but i have heard anything can happen...until the time u get ur visa and e-ticket to Dubai than u can rest a little...before that anything can happen....
all u guys have to do is to have patience and be positive...and hopefully 2014 will bring u the best news ever...may 2014 be one of ur best years ever....

  8. Hey cabincrewdreamer!

I have a burning question to ask. I went for the EK open day on 5th October and made it to the FI the next day. My status changed to AIP within the same week, and up until now it still hasn't changed! It's been more than a good two months now (2 months 14 days to be exact) and I'm getting anxious and a little worried. I've read many discussion forums and blogs relating to AIPs etc and I would say all of the applicants under AIP status changed to YWBC within the same week to a month/a little over a month. Could there possibly be something wrong with my application and is this even normal? I have no idea what I should do or if I should be contacting EK as this has been really holding up my plans for 2014.

Thank you so much for any help and advice (:

    1. hi lovely jenna...
first off congratulations for scoring the finals with ek....well done
as for ur status being on AIP for so long ect...i actually know tons of friends in your situation who had aip for so long ect...i have heard that the training slots are very full and they are very busy in HR trying to manage this and it seems they are very slow or the process is slow...
also remember its very different from applicant to applicant...cause every applicant have a individual recruiter and after the FI your application will go through several departments and they need to approve too..i think the normal process from final interview to date of join would be 4-5 months to be honest....if anyone can score earlier than this person would be lucky....
so someone can have AIP for weeks or months...but i have heard anything can happen...until the time u get ur visa and e-ticket to Dubai than u can rest a little...before that anything can happen....
all you can do jenna is to have patience and just wait and be positive...or think positive...i know this process and the wait is crazyyy and frustrating....
but hopefully your 2014 will begin with a beautiful gift for u
      a ticket for u to dubai :-)
      so hang in there ok.......
and try not to worry so much or think much about this as u will go crazy
wish u all the best dear jenna

  10. Hello!

I hope this still pings up as a notification. Thank you for the post as it has helped calm me a little.

    My dates:

    AD - 16/12/13
    FI - 19/12/13
"Successful" on hold (6 months time frame) email - 05/02/14

Thus far I was pretty much the only one from our batch of final interviewees who'd heard back positively, until one of the girls received her GC today (12/02/14). Her DOJ is 04/04/14.

I'm a guy and reading around it seems guys get more on hold emails than the ladies do (pretty reasonable I suppose).

Do you reckon it's worth holding out for the GC? Tbh I'm still not too convinced despite the 'successful' part in the email. Arrrh!

    1. Hi dear....
coming this far with emirates is huge!!!
not only did u make it to the finals with ek..u u even got a successful ´´on hold ´´ email
if they were not interested in u ,,,they would not send out these on hold emails....they would just simply send out rejection emails...
and as u read it correctly, guys do get more on hold emails than females..cause they need to balance the batches....mostly its more female in one batch than male...
so they like to put 1-3 males in one batch...thats what i heard from a friend who works in emirates.....
of course u cant give up....u have come this far....
seriously i read this article saying its like winning the lottery if someone even make it to the finals with ek...
so congrats on coming this far
although i understand how frustrating the wait is...and not knowing where ur going and what will happen ect
but have FAITH dear....this is the normal route male take with ek unfortunately....
i hope soon good news will come ur way and fingers crossed for u......
      hang in there!!!!
wish u the best and once again congrats for scoring a final seat with ek...
      have a lovely day

Long waits do appear to be the norm for most male applicants. I shall be patient :) I'll also be sure to update if I hear any news from EK.

Thanks once again for the support and for your posts. I wish you well too!

and congrats on getting the on hold email and not the rejection email...so far so good...as long as no rejection email is coming ur safeeee!!!
its a super positive sign that u got this email....but still u cant be 100% certain...... until u get ur golden call and ur date of join ect..than u can feel safer...once u get ur golden call and they give u ur date of join ect...and u do all the joining formalities and u will be given the final approval than i think its safe to say U GOT THE JOB...cause with these companies we never know....
..so unfortunate it means u have to wait a bit longer....because they are probably busy at the training and lots of new batches is coming, so they probably is waiting to find a slot for u in the training when they do they will probably call u....so i hope things will go well for u....
      wishing u the best dear

as long as u havnt gotten a rejection email thats a good sign...but that rejection email can come at any given time...this is unfortunately how ek works....

  13. Hi.
I've attended FI on the 31/3/2014. 7 girls and 3 guys made it to the final. So far that I know 3 of them already gotten their golden calls (2 girls 1 guy) and their joining date will be on the 6/6/2014. As for me, my status haven't change since 16/4 which is INTERVIEW COMPLETED and I've read online saying that usually unsuccessful/rejection email will be send on the 4th weeks after FI. Is that true

I know a friend who waited 15 weeks until she got her GC.Than myself once i made it to FI and i waited 10weeks until i got my rejection email. I know this other girl who got her GC after 6 weeks. ect ect...there is no set rule of how long u have to wait until u get ur GC or rejection email.....each recruiter handles certain amount of candidate applications ect...so it all depends on each recruiter...i have heard xxx amount of time for GC or rejection email....there is no set time for this....
but congrats on scoring the finals with ek well done...
and fingers crossed u hear good news soon
until than nothing to do than wait :-)
      good luck

    3. yeah it was a very difficult and disappointing time of my life...BUT i guess things happens for a reason cause 2 months after this rejection i got the job with etihad...so perhaps ek wasnt meant to be for me and etihad was...who knows....perhaps things do happens for a reason...happy easter to u dear xxx

    4. I haven't tried etihad yet. Because it's to far away from my country. Plus currently I'm working as a Malaysia airlines crew. So it's difficult for me to get off to fly over so far for interview. By the way, I've just got rejection email from Emirates ):. Oh well.

    5. hi dear, aw im sorry for the ek rejection email, but dont let that letter define u...if u want this badly enough and ur heart beats for it..than try again...dont let anything or anyone stop u!!!!
also sometimes if we want something we go FAR FAR to get it..and it will be a investment for our future....why not use ur staff tickets from ur airline to fly over to whatever country close to urs for a etihad ad...i flew over to another country for my etihad ad...there was this guy who had came all the way from brazil...and i think he had a 20hr trip or so....
so IF WE WANT something we shall never give up and NOTHING will stop us!!!! good luck dear and dont give up

    7. You should totally go....
      If u check bookings.com
And check the area *yas island* that area is the closest to etihad academy. Yas island is approx 15 min from etihad academy
If u booked a hotel in the city....the travel distance from city to etihad academy would b approx 25min
      Go to booking.com
And u will find good prices there
And bus/taxi will take u from dubai to abu dhabi
U can take taxi to dubai bus station called bur dubai
Take bus from there to abu dhabi city center...from there take taxi to yas island/ur hotel
Thats what i did/my friends do when we travel to/from abu dhabi/dubai
      Good luck

  14. Hey there! Your blog is amazing, thanks a lot for the support you have given us! I've been having sleepless nights cause of an issue I'm going through. I received my golden call. However, during the medical form filling, we had to be honest and fill in any medical issues we had. I did, since I have a problem with my left eye. And they asked me to get the report from the doctor. I'm pretty worried now. Will they not hire me anymore? I'm still under the joining process formalities. Hope you reply soon. Thanks! :)

    1. hi dear...hope ur well
ur welcome dear and i try my best to help/advice whoever who wants it...
first off congratulations for getting that GOLDEN CALL from ek...thats amazinggg.....
but i understand with whatever project we have, worries/fear comes along too...
well regarding ur question about the medical form and ur left eye....
i assume the ek staff has looked over ur medical form and is aware of ur left eye BEFORE they made the golden call to u
so they are aware of this..STILL THEY CALLED u...i assume....
so this means they are ok with this AS LONG AS u send them the paper from ur eye doctor ect....
these stuff is very normal and happens all the time...if we declare something regarding a medical health, they ek wants papers from ur doctor about this or that....so they can put this in ur medical file...at the office in dubai....
the staff needs to be aware of whatever health issues everyone have...
and they decide if this is ok or not....
but i doubt the issue u have with ur left eye will cause any problems.....
if it was a big deal they wouldnt have made that golden call.........
i have had friends who had to send the ek staff papers from their doctors too about various medical issues ect...so they have it....than it was fine...
and as u probably know the recruitment process with emirates is WAY LONG ...SOOO LONG...so from final interview to date of join can be anything from 3-6 months...so dont worry dear, and just send them over the papers from ur eye doctor...if u dont have any papers, go seek a doctor and make them sign a paper or write a paper regarding ur eye that it is fine...or whatever it is doctors write on those papers...and send it over to them.....
every candidate go through different timelines...and for some it might take longer to join...for others quicker....its very different to what recruiter handles ur papers ect ect....
so dont worry dear, when there is nothing to be worried about.....
if they mention something or stop u from joining than worry.....not now:-)
stay positive...and be proud that u scored this job cause there is 1000 people who wish they could be in ur shoes :-)
      so enjoy dear...this victory
and i wish u all the best and good luck :-)
take care and have a nice day

      comes

  16. Hi CabinCrewDreamer,

Really AWESOME blog!! So good to get info, advice and tips from somebody who's been there and done it!! :) Thank you for taking the time to write the blog and reply to all of the above questions.

I applied online with Emirates and received an invitation by email to attend their open day on 07 June. I am sooo nervous.
I have a butterfly tattoo on my back, it is not at all visible with normal shirts or even sleeveless. Do they ask about tattoos? Will a non-visible tattoo mean Emirates won't consider me?

    Thank you

    1. hi dear anushka...
hope ur well and thank u for ur kind words....
and so cool ur attending a od for ek soon good luck!!!
      as for tattoos....
yes they will ask u during ur open day about tattoos
      they will ask:

      DO YOU HAVE ANY TATTOOS
      or
DO YOU HAVE ANY TATTOOS THAT WOULD BE VISIBLE WHILE WEARING THE UNIFORM

thats how they will ask u....
if this tattoo of urs arnt visible while wearing the uniform which i doubt it will be....i wouldnt declare this....cause not many would check ur back
maybe the doctor during the medical exam would check ur back with a stethoscope to check ur breathing...but i doubt it would be a issue
if i were u i wouldnt declare my tattoos
but u do how u feel is right for u
but i would think declaring a non visible tattoo wouldnt get us rejected...but we never know!!!!
      so its a risk
but i know few friends who joined emirates who had non visible tattoos and they didnt declare it and no one saw it and no one said anything...they still work for emirates today
      -...
so u chose what u feel is right for u :-)

    2. Dear Cabincrewdreamer,

Thank you soooo much for your kind reply!! I really feel much more confident now, as I was stressing out about it.
It is a fairly big tattoo, I got it a few months ago, but its placed where its not visible and no one will know I have a tattoo unless I tell them, or choose to show it.
I hope it won't be an issue when if I get to the UAE and the doctor or nurse sees it.
I agree with your point of view, if its not visible with uniform or normal wear then no need to declare.

I hope Qatar is not more strict, as I'm attending their open day 01 June, super nervous.

I hope you do well and may you enjoy a wonderful weekend :)

Thanks again for the reply and lovely blog!!

    3. dear anushka....
etihad and emirates are strict with tattoos but as long as its not visible while wearing the uniform ur fine...
myself i have tons of tattoos but i never declared it with etihad and no one saw it and i didnt say anything....and it was fine...

BUT qatar is way way more strict so be careful regarding this...even if its not visible i heard they wont accept people
im not sure but i even heard during the medicals in qatar they will do a body search.... i have had ex qatar crew in etihad who told me qatar is way strict.....
if i were u i would declare that tattoo for qatar so they know.....in case i would get the job and they would see this in qatar....and send me home...
just thought to pass on the info i got about tattoos and qatar
good luck dear on ur open day 1st of june

Yes, I have been reading online and seems Qatar in general, even the country, is much more strict on dress code etc than Dubai.

I really hope for the best, as working cabin crew is a dream job for me :)

Thanks again for all the info and advice. I really appreciate it and I am ready to walk in tomorrow morning with more confidence.

The recruitment process with emirates usually are soooo long...but i advice u to check a forum called * dubai expat* there they have a thread for emirates/dnata....a thread about other departments in emirates than cabin crew

Got to say this blog is truely inspiring...I'm a male candidate who attended an assessment day In April '14 and unfortunately I was knocked off after the 1st round,I did realise though judging from the rest that made it through I had no smile showing any of my teeth in my pics, and the ones that did make it through had beautiful smiles in their pics showing their teeth,Cabincrewdreamer would u agree would me on this that it is essential to smile in your pics? And is their a certain height required for male applicants?Besides being able to reach the 212cm reach..pls advise kindly (:

    1. ♥ hello dear
      hope ur good

regarding your question about smiling pictures ...it is 100% IMPORTANT to show your smile/teeth in pictures you give to the recruiters....cause as a cabin crew you will be smiling 24.7...so its vital to have smiling pics....during FI they ask you to give them ´´smiling/ showing teeth´´
      pictures....

there are no max height rule for emirates...as long as u pass the reach test.....but there are aircrafts such as Airbus A319-320 that are very low in the ceiling....but emirates dont have these kind of aircrafts so there are no max height....
etihad does have max height cause etihad have these aircrafts A319-320
anyhow wanted to wish you all the best luck in the world for u....

  20. Dear blogger,

Thank you very much for all your information. I too have a question for you. I finished my personal interview and my status now is IC. I'm not sure if I will get the job but would already like to receive information about the medical information Emrates wants to have.

This year I called in sick from work for three weeks. After three weeks I started working again and building up to my normal work hours. The first two weeks I did use anti anxiety medicin just to clear my head. It was not necessary, but it did make it easier for me.

When I applied for the airline I had no idea that this could become a possible reason of rejection. Now i'm wondering if you have met people who have been hired even though they took medicine that weren't approved in the UAE? Do you know of any people who hid that information? And what are the chances that they will ask for medical report from doctors, etc.

I would much rather be honest, but I really want my dreamjob as well. Could you give me any advice as to handle the situation? Thanks very much in advance:-)

    1. hi dear hope ur good...
i dont know if u got this emirates pre-employment medical form or not during ur final interview...but if u didnt check it here:

      http://personal.crocodoc.com/EUjiLzc

you can check here what they allow and what they wont allow ect....

i dont know if u guys have to sign this medical form before the final interview or after...anyhow emirates dont approve of people taking medication for ex anxiety or any of this sort......
but most people dont declare this...kind of things....

i know a friend of mine who took medicine/pills for her depression, and she never declared it..and no one found out..and she is still working for emirates....

i also know few other emirates crew who uses certain medication ect...for various reasons that they need...ex some take sleeping pills ect...because their sleeping patterns arent working...and this is also something that isnt allowed in uae/emirates....but its nothing that can be shown during medical exams ect....

these crew i know off....has no issues with buying certain medication from overseas during layovers...and bring it to uae....even if uae/emirates dont allow it.......
its not like uae/emirates is banning people to not use pills for whatever they need...i mean normal medication...people use....its not like they check ur bag for it every time u go in and out of uae......

i know a crew in emirates who uses medication to grow their hair, have a fuller hair...i know people who has taken that depression pills i told u about...and sleeping pills....some used weight loss pills ect ect....but none of these folks declared it...

during the emirates medical exam in dubai...i dont think they see traces from painkillers, or depression pills ect..or these kind of certain pills/medication...

what they will look for is drugs or serious illnesses in the blood ect, ....and other things.....

also one more thing..there was this girl in my batch when i worked with etihad ...who took depression pills...during our medical exam in abu dhabi, she declared that she was taking these pills...and etihad fired her...THAN she applied to emirates lol and got in..she never declared this....and no one found out..she is still working for ek.....

if i were in your shoes i would never declare this..cause if u do than there is a risk they will either fire u or terminate ur contract......

there is so manyyyy people that do whatever they want over there that no one knows about...its similar stuff with folks who dont declare tattoos...and tons of crew have tattoos......
its not like they will do a body search for tattoos heheehe

and it would be such a shame for them to fire u or terminate ur contract based on something u took for 2 weeks or whatever......in the past...

but again read that per-employment medical form i attached for u above....so u get some more info about this

      good luck dear...wish u a wonderful summer...
      take care

  21. Thank you so much for your answer. I am a bit less worried now.

I dont use or need any medications, so as far as any tests are concerned I will be fine:D

But my worry it that they do medical background checks, since we give permission to do so on the medical form. Do you know if this is a standard procedure they do? Some forums state that they will find out about your medical history. I hope that's just something they do when they have doubts about a person. Hope you can inform me further......Thanks in advance!

as for the medical background check...emirates will never ever contact ur doctors......they only write this because they have to write/ask this...because of formalities..and legal stuff...government stuff ect
so they have this in the file ect....

so if i were u i would attend that open day in september....
from what i have heard and been told by a ek recruiter during my open day earlier this year she told me they dont have any 6 months waiting period anymore...people can attend open days whenever they like without waiting....
so if i were u i would attend that sep open day :-)
the moment u get rejected is when u get a email or ur status goes to APPLICATION UNSUCCESSFUL or regret or whatever email they send....so ur still in the game dear....

  25. Dear Cabin Crew Dreamer,

Thank you for this amazing helpful post.

I am a bit confused now with the new system and its new statuses.
My status right now is Joining Formalities in Progress, I have yet received any call, almost a week has passed, whereas all the girls from my AD received it either the next day or two days later. I understand that every person has a different timeline, but it could get quite nerve-wracking when all the other girls from the same AD already got their GC and DOJ. Therefore, I would like to know when is the approximate time one would get GC after status changing to JFIP. Also, is it common for them to change back the status or send out any unfortunate result at this stage?

Many thanks in advance for your time!

Yeah ur right dear that every candidate have different timeline...even if a bunch of people from ur ad would get calls/or emails doesnt necessary mean someone else in that bunch will get those calls either...
cause as i saw it, it seems there are various recruiters that handles various applications ect.....
i fully understand that its frustrating and stressful to be in this situation...there isnt much to do than to wait....and ride this out.....
there isnt a approx time either with each candidate...
emirates is known for its super long recruitment process from FI to joining....for some it cane take 2 months for others 5 months.....
what i heard as well is anything is possible during this application process....no one is safe until they are on board the plane off to dubai
      heheehehe
cause every stage in the process has to have a stamp of approval from someone in the department ect...
its not one who handle this...its perhaps several others from various departments....
but fingers crossed things will sail smoothly for u and soon u will get it all done and ur off to dubai :-)
      wishing u the best
      :-)

  26. Hello, thanks for the blog, it gives us a lot of information!!!

I have a question for you. I went to an OD last February but I didn´t get it. Last month, I got an email inviting me to an OD, but I didn´t go. Now, my account says: Status: Completed but I´ve never been in a FI -you said that status has that meaning-. So I´m a little bit confused. Can you please help me, ´cause I want to attend an OD next Saturday and hope I have no problems.
    Thanks!!!

    1. hi dear maida.....hope ur well...
so u have two choices here....1 is to attend the OD next saturday and just ignore the completed message/status....cause they will probably fix that once u reach to finals and all that....
or 2. create a new account with a new email address and re-apply again...and attend.....
i have done both...i know others have done both too....
but i doubt u would have any issues though if u went to the od...cause its not ur fault it shows completed....only that its probably a error in the system as u never did a final interview....
anyhow good luck and i wish u all the best next saturday

    1. hi dear nathan
i dont know why your application is still ´´application unsuccessful´´ ....
you didnt write if u made it further to assessment or finals? or did u only do open day?
but these ek application status sometimes can be tricky and doesnt make sense....sometimes they dont change them in ages...sometimes they change it the day after....
sometimes we shouldnt do anything and they will change it to the correct status after a while...
sometimes we should ignore the application status if we are going to attend another open day....its just re-applying again....
or even create a new account....if it gets messy in the old account......
hope this helps a bit...if not im sorry i couldnt help u dear...
      have a lovely day

  30. Hello dear ,
I have a question regarding a passport , my passport has a limited validate expiration which is only one year , so I have to renew it once each a year, do u think so it's an issue with EK with this kind of passport!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hi dear ahmad...
regarding ur passport, i doubt it would be a issue. Because u have your annual leave each year and than u can renew it whenever u go on leave. I dont think it would be a problem for u. But once u made it to the final interview with emirates, you can ask this question to them during that time. During your interview they will ask u if u have further questions, and i think this question u have would be a great question to ask :-)
Have a lovely day dear Ahmad

    1. hi dear doria
      hope ur well
      im good dear thank u...
ur not overreacting regarding ur hand tattoo...we all have worries/fears and its only natural to feel how u feel dear :-)
i felt the same when i joined etihad and i didnt declare my tattoos heheheh but it went alright anyway
anyhow regarding ur hand tattoo 100% u should NOT declare it or mention it to anyone...as thats a big no no...
and thankfully ur already in the process of removing it and i bet its almost done....
and u say u can cover it with makeup...thats awesome....
when u join emirates, they will never search for tattoos or do a body examine or whatever....qatar airways does this
thank god ek doesnt do this
as long as u can hide it its cool...
there are tons of people with tattoos in ek and they are hiding it...
i dont know 100% exactly what goes on during the ek medical exam...but i have friends who joined ek and they told me a bit....from what i know off...it seems u guys will have a normal medical check up and all that...and the doctor will check ex ur hearing, sight, take blood, weight and measurements, xrays ect ect....and ex they will handle u how normal doctors handle people when they take blood or check vision or whatever...and it seems u guys will be wearing the red- tshirt and black pants....during the medical exam...
the red-tshirt will be given to u guys during the training....
but its not like they will observe for tattoos ect....
those that get caught/fired from the company are those that either mentioned it during the training...or saw it during the training by the instructors....some friends of mine that works for ek told me its the instructors we should be worried for...not the doctors during the medical exam...
but if u never tell them and no one sees it...ur safe......
and ur in the process of removing it anyway...so i dont find any problems here....
the recruiters even tell people during the recruitment event that those that have visible tattoos...that they should go and remove it ad re-apply again...
u removed it...well almost....so i totally feel there wouldnt be any issues for u :-)
and by the time u might join ek u might have done ur 7th laser treatment :-)
      so even better :-)
hope this piece of info helps a bit dear
good luck and have a great day

the application status i know some of my friends have had are these with ek: in order::::

  37. Hi cabin crew dreamer! My name is Mary and I'm from Portugal (Cristiano Ronaldo birth country yeeeei xD).

I have two questions, I'll try to be quick.

    1) I did my final interview(on 20/11/2014), my status on the website is "Interview Completed", and I already received the emirates email (on 17/12/2014) saying that I was successful but their academy is full until mid of february, to stay on hold. They say they are awaiting approval for additional training course dates before they can send me a formal offer of employment.
Is this means I got the job or there is some uncertainty? How long will take me to hear from them again? When do you think I am going to Dubai?

    2) Regarding to the accommodation rules... They say I can host 2 members of my family together, 30 days in a row, twice a year (total: 60 days per year). But who are this family members? I'm sure my mother can stay because I'm a girl, but what about my father and my brother? And what about my friends? You said that some cabin crew members say their friends are actually "cousins" because this way they can host them, and this may work with girl friends, but do you think this works for male friends?

Thank you so much for the attention, best regards, mary!

    1. hello dear Mary
      hope ur well....
regarding question 1 that u have about the email u got regarding ur on hold until they find a training date spot for u...u havnt 100% gotten the job yet...until u get the formal contract that u sign and get the final approval...getting urvisa/ticket to fly...than u can relax knowing ur on ur way...because with emirates we never know...anything can happen along the road.....
and it is different from candidate to candidate..regarding the timeline...some get answers quick...some longer...it all depends on the folk at the office...
there is no fix timeline...all people can do is wait and think positive...and hopefully it will work out at the end......
so question no 2...regarding accommodation rules...
the family members they are talking about ..what i heard is father/mother and sister/brother is allowed to stay at ur house.....only immediate family members...
its not like in etihad...in etihad only mother/sister are allowed to sleep over at ur place....
but im not 100% sure about friends sleeping over...they used to before ...but i dont know the rules today....
and i think ek has become a bit strict lately about people that bring over friends that they say are cousins ect...yet they arnt....i heard they have a stricter control about this...
but yet again rules/regulations changes all the time...
i hope this piece of info helps a bit for u dear
also i advice u to ask these same questions on that cabincrew.com forum...and i bet u get more answers there too....
anyhow congratulations dear mary for coming this far with emirates...wishing u all the best and hope soon u get all the approval and the ticket in ur hand so u can begin ur new chapter in life
      take care dear

  42. Hi there!

I have a question regarding my online application status. So at the beginning of January I decided to apply online for an assessment day and got an application unsuccessful. However, I then attended an Open day for EK cc and got through till the Final Interview.

After the Final Interview, I edited my online application with EK as it had to correspond to the same email address and had to match my updated CV and the form I had to fill in.

It still says application unsuccessful online, but I do not know whether this is the old application status. Should it have changed by now to under review or completed?

And is there any chance the recruiter sees my old application? Since I now updated the photos and some other sections?

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And is there any point in creating a new application online with a different email address to match my updated cv and application form?

    2. hi dear hope ur well
i have heard about this, people in the same situation like u...that they applied online got rejected and later attended a open day and made it to the FI...but some of those i been in contact with, they said they just created a new account with a new email address, the same email address they wrote on the applications during the od/ad/fi....and they just deleted/deactivated the old account online...and used the new one....
what i would do if i were u dear, i would create a new account in emirates career with the email address i wrote in the resume while i did the recruitment...but still keep the old account too....in case....
or u could just wait and see what happens...because sometimes these changes in the portal doesnt change that often as they should...
but i assume the recruiter will only continue and look for accounts that had the email address as the application u had during ur recruitment day...
cause i remember once when i made it to the FI with emirates...the recruiter told those that didnt have a online account...to create a new one with the email address we had written in our application during that recruitment day....and i had not created a account...so the same day after the FI i did create a new with that email address that i had written on my papers....and was on my resume...
hope this piece of info helps a bit dear.....

I applied online in the end of January and 2 or 3 days later it was showing "application unsuccessful". Do you know if i can submit the same application later? Is there a window of time i should wait??
I was shortlisted with Emirates before so i'm not sure what possibly could got wrong this time. Maybe my age? I'm 31 now but im aso an experienced cabin crew! That doesn't count?

    1. Hi dear
      hope you are well
i actually know a friend that applied online and like you 1-2 days later the status showed ´´application unsuccessful´´...what my friend did was to just attend a open day.
what i would do if i were you dear, is to attend a open day...if u wont have the possibility to do so, re-apply again with a new email address, new account on ek career site, perhaps few weeks later.
having previous flying experience doesnt help people at all, i have tried myself and i know many that did try even having loads of flying experience....but didnt succeed....having flying experience when applying for emirates is neither a plus or minus....but it doesnt guarantee candidates the job...which is so wrong in my opinion....but this is how they work...
when u do the recruitment event, u with flying experience and a candidate with no flying experience will have equal chances.....which is so wrong....but this is how emirates operates,,,, :-( such a bad HR policy they have...
as for age, it will be more difficult to score the job with emirates being above 30+....but the chances is still there.....they used to be open to 30+ before....but lately its a bit more difficult....
i have heard the max age with emirates is 33....
again nothing makes sense with emirates and how they hire people....they have a total different mindset than what perhaps we in europe are....
But dear i totally think u should go for it and try, and as for applying online...no i havnt heard about any time limit of applying online....
but i feel attending a open day is more safe to do so...than applying online...
      :-)
      wishing u the best dear
      good luck

    2. Thank you for your answer :)
I totally agree with you!! Their HR don't work that well and it's their bad. I think that also influences their image... Etihad's HR are so much better and organised.
And I don't think it's fair that a experienced person have no extra chances. That's why I keep seeing people without experience going and coming back after probation because it's not really what they expected! For us it's different. I know what to expect, I know how's the job, it's just a matter of an airline change!!
About what you told me, actually I've already did what you sugested. Recently I've attended an Emirates OD and I was not called for the AD... It's really frustrating and makes me sad thinking I've already got till the final. This is all so confusing! After this I decided to erase my account and create a new one to give my self a new chance but I got that "unsucessful" status I told you about. There's definitely a problem with my application, I just don't know what it is!! I'm loosing my hope with Emirates. It would be so much easier if I had an invitation so I can show them what I've got but they are not even giving me that opportunity! But Life's not easy right?! I'll just keep trying :)

    3. lovely angela hello
      hope you are well
yeah i agree with you the etihad HR and all is much better and more ´´human´´ so to speak...its more of a team work....there....while over in emirates i heard its like the staff is only a number in the system...
i totally agree with you that its unfair!!!
but i read somewhere someone commented about the age thing, i wish i could find it so i could copy and paste it for u so you can read exactly what it said..but this person wrote something about that ek has a new thing lately that they rather hire young, unexperienced candidates so they could mold these people into the way they want it....while ´´older´´ candidates and experienced candidates know what they want and cant be molded into the way they want it.....
which is so unfair and not the way we would think would be the normal route to take when it comes to recruiting people....
and angela THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with ur application...
i guess the competition is difficult and we just need to try and try until we get it...
sometimes these airlines also have a quota to fill...when they go to these cities...sometimes we might not fit the quota they have for each city....or sometimes its about luck being there in the right time and place...
i dont know if u ever would consider qatar, but if i were in ur shoes i would 100% try with qatar
i have a friend that works for qatar and she says that while its strict and all that...she loves to travel and she loves the lifestyle she has in doha and she have the opportunity to save money ect......
      :-)
anyhow dear angela good luck and never ever give up!!!
people like u are rare and i hope these airlines sees the good in u!!!

    1. Hi dear
I only have info about cabin crew, other positions i dont know much about...
BUT i know this is that regardless position, it takes a longggg time when it comes to the emirates hiring process...even when they said 2 weeks it might be 3-4 weeks...
anyhow they will probably contact the successful candidates...if you havnt heard from them in a while i guess it means u were not successful...
BUT check ur emirates portal and the status u have in there often....
if u have a email address from ur HR coordinator or anyone, why not emailing them and find out perhaps next week....
anyhow fingers crossed u will soon hear good news...
they are very busy in the HR office so thats why it takes along time...
but hopefully things will go well and soon u hear anything from them
      good luck dear

    1. hi dear
      hope ur well
the only thing i know is there is this non-poaching agreement between qatar and emirates, that people should wait 1 year....
if i were u, i would declare this to ek, so it wont cause u any issues in the future.....but no qatar and UAE visa arnt under the same system....they have different government ect,,,,and rules/regulations....
but once they do a passport check, they will most probably see this in their system...
u can read more about this here

u can also write a question on this board to see if others might have more insight in this dear

Also i have informed the company that i cant start working immidiately and that i need 2 months until i quit my job, return to my country as well and manage some things that have to be done.So in case that there ll be a position in June i have to be informed at the end of this month.Do you know the usual time of the Golden Call or of the rejection mail after the Hold on e-mail?

Thanks again for your time and your nice words.

yes i do know people that got the on hold email but for certain reasons they didnt go all the way....regarding the timeline between golden call and the rejection email after the on hold email, can be different from candidate to candidate...there is no fix timeline...for some it might be months for some weeks...

  50. Hello cabincrewdreamer! Amazing post, thank you so much for it, so nice!

I am OH and I have several questions. Maybe you can help me!

I would like you to take your time to reply them if you can. These questions are very important for me. I dont want to disturb you with "my nervious" questions hahaha...

The first one (most important): the type of the contract. I dont know exactly if I will be prepared for this kind of living, schedules etc... so, what about if I decide to cancell it before a year, or in 6 months or something like that?. Should I pay some kind of penalization? how does it work? .I need to consider the posibility to come back home if I don't feel prepared or confortable with this new lifestyle (I am architect, nothing related with this worl!... However I want to take this xperience, futhermore I went to the AD looking for this..)

Second: what about the training course?? are they very sellective?? I have read on blogs that some people have to repeat the training or that the exams are hard. Also I ve been reading that everytime you go to your fligh, you have to answer some questions that if you fail, you can not fly.

Third: can you change normally your flights with your mates, looking for your prefered routes? do you usually stay in dubai? how many days in a row in dxb? (because I would like to go normally to barcelona or zurich. Also depending on the row days in dubai I could move to bcn for some days for example... or some mates-familly could stay in dubai, and I want to be sure that I will stay there for several days, if they go)

Thanks in advanced. I will be glad if you replay me. Regards.

    1. hello dear aitor...
      hope ur doing well dear...
the post i posted about these questions/answers for ek, isnt written by me...i found this from online dear...and shared this here....
      anyhow to ur questions::::
      --------

The first one (most important): the type of the contract. I dont know exactly if I will be prepared for this kind of living, schedules etc... so, what about if I decide to cancell it before a year, or in 6 months or something like that?.
      --------------
the contract isnt binding...its a 3 year contract u get ...and u can resign anytime u want...of course u have to finish ur probation period first....which is 6 months....if u resign before 6 months...there is a amount of money u have to re-pay the company...anyhow if u resign after 6 months thats ok...after each 3 years u complete, the contract gets renewed... of course if u have a good record...working record i mean....
      ------------

what about the training course?? are they very selective?? I have read on blogs that some people have to repeat the training or that the exams are hard. Also I ve been reading that everytime you go to your fligh, you have to answer some questions that if you fail, you can not fly.
      ------
reagarding the training...if u fail 1 exam, u get 2-3 chances to re-do the exams...if u fail on the 3rd or something like that, u get bounced back to another batch...like bounced back 1 week back ect....so they give u chances ect....thats what i heard anyway....but most often the exams are pretty easy..u get multiple options ect...in the exams...as for during the briefing... on each flight u have, before each flight u have this briefing meeting,,,,and the cabin manager will ask each cabin crew 1 question, most often its questions that appeared on ur exams in the training...eather safety/security/medical/ect ect whatever....if the crew wont be able to answer this questions once...the CM will give the cc another chance with another question....if this cc wont be able to answer again, the crew will be offloaded from the flight....but again its questions from ur training/exams...so if u pass them, then u know these ......
      --------------

can you change normally your flights with your mates, looking for your prefered routes? do you usually stay in dubai? how many days in a row in dxb?. Also depending on the row days in dubai I could move to bcn for some days for example... or some mates-familly could stay in dubai, and I want to be sure that I will stay there for several days, if they go)
      -----------
there is this system cabin crews get access too...where u can swap flights...request flights...request days off ect ect....the schedule for a cc looks different month from month...some weeks u might have 4 days off in a row...some weeks u might have 2 days off in a week....and remember i wrote about the system where u can request things...u can request days off there too...and yes many crew do travel wherever they want on days off....ex if they have 4 days in a row in one week they can travel to wherever they want....as its their own days off....or family members/ friends can come visit u too....
      ---------
dear i hope my replies has helped a bit.....wishing u the best and no worries if u have any questions lets me know....
good luck ...have a nice night

    2. Hello,

First of all , id like to thank you for everything you have done and are doing.
You have been a great help to many and a wonderful motivation,

Okay so i have applied online , went thru the OP , made it to the AD and then did the FI :)

so my status has been constantly changing , then finally went to Interview Scheduled , after around a week from the Final interview which happened on the 30 or 31st of March , status got switched to Interview completed.
According to some of the guys , Interview completed means you are basically accepted and should be waiting for the Golden Call..

Now my question is, will my status change again ? should i be waiting for another status change..

a few information about me , im 22 years old , Arabic with Jordanian passport and male.

I have also been told that they have an interest about Arabic people nowadays and require arabic speakers..

While going thru your blog i managed to notice a case of a guy who had Interview completed status and after a week or so he got a rejection email .. so this got me worried even more..

Appreciate any advice or help you could give,
      Best Regards!

      Imad,

    3. hello dear imad
      i hope u are well
thank u for ur kind words
and big big congratulationssss that u made it all the way to final interview....
i advice u to read this when it comes to emirates status changes:::

      https://flygirllulu.wordpress.com/2014/12/13/final-approval/

and read her blog..her blog is very informative...and u can also see whats ur next status change too....
as there will be many more to come....
these airlines always need arabic speaker crew onboard...so fingers crossed this will be one positive journey for u to date of joining....
as for status changes and being worries about that and rejection ect....there is really no guarantee until u get the golden call of course....then of course changes might happen after that too..i feel with these airlines and all the changes...we can breathe once we are on the plane flying to dubai heheheehe
but i understand worry/doubt and fear is natural when it comes to these things dear imad...
try not to worry much, because it will drive us crazy... :-)
but anyhow ur the perfect age for the company though..they love to hire young candidates like urself....
and they always need arabic speakers onboard as i mentioned earlier...
      wishing u all the best
      good luck dear imad

You have been a great help ,, still waiting for any new status changes in hopes of finding that " Joining Formalities In Progress " line once i sign in haha

However, i got a call from the other 3 guys that made it through with me to the FI .. unfortunately they received a rejection email around 2 days ago .. so all 3 of them were rejected .. which got me more worried now .. im constantly checking my status to see whats going to happen now, since all of them got Application Unsuccessful and then received their rejection email..

what a horror movie im living in now.. specially after the news he gave me

Anyways , hoping for the best and will keep you updated :)

I got a question for you tho, so you are now working with Etihad ? If yes , wish you all the best and thank you once again for your informative blog :)

    1. hi dear
      hope you are well
i assume ur asking about the cabin crew job and not other positions in emirates... :-)
regarding being 30+ and scoring a job with ek as a cc....while emirates do prefer to hire younger candidates....its not impossible to score the job when being 30 years old either...but its more difficult to get this job being 30+
but i advice u to try, at least u can try, if u have the opportunity to try.....TRY..... :-)
im not saying completely NO because ek do hire perhaps a handful each year as i heard, (30+)
but i wont say YES either as i heard its very difficult for those 30+........
like a lottery it seems :-) we just have to try :-)

as for status changes, it has happened and happen a lot that their is a mixup with the status changes on the portal...nothing to worry about...when the recruiters or the folks at the HR office makes some changes they will change it too....
also they are so busy at the ek office that it happens sometimes they miss to change a status ect....but there is nothing to be worried about, because any important emails or whatever will be emailed to u ...or they will contact u in some ways....
also each candidate has unique timeline for whatever it is....for some it might take longer for the process for some faster ect....

Thank you for attending the recent selection process for the position of Customer Service Professionals.

We are pleased to advise that you have been shortlisted to the next stage of our process. We have managed to fill all our current vacant positions, however, we anticipate vacancies in the near future. We would like to retain your application for further consideration once positions become available.etc etc

I have some questions in mind
    1) HOwcome i got the email so early ...i mean they said 2 weeks..
    2) is it a positive email , is there a better email than this like a congratultion or something?
    3) what are my chances of getting the job?
    4) why are they saying no vacancies when they had interviews ?

ON 29th they also made me answer the Microsoft office online test .

    Awaiting your reply .
    Thanks
    Melrose

    1. hello dear melrose
      hope ur well dear
while i dont have much knowledge or info regarding other positions other than cabin crew, i will still try to see if i can help in anyway....
this email u got, it seems u have been successful for the next step...but been put on a HOLDINGPOOL...and it doesnt matter if u got this email so early ect...as each individual has a unique timeline...some get news after few days, some after few weeks, and some after few months.....but indeed this email is POSITIVE....i think ur in this holding pool, u and some others i assume...and they are waiting for the next step....but they probably want u to know that it might take a long time....but ur still in the game so to speak....at this point its not 100% that u will succeed in getting this job....because it can go either way from here....but this isnt a rejection email...because i know how a rejection email looks like...as i applied other jobs in ek myself and gotten rejection emails ect...someone wrote this about ek jobs and the process of the whole hiring process ect, which i found informative i will copy and paste for u:::::::
´´´´some roles are one-off, and are opened and closed in a short period of time. Others are regularly repeating roles, and the recruiter may have difficulty clearing all applicants from the role as applicants are of sufficient quality to be considered, and the hiring managers often want to keep candidates for the next selection process even after the current hiring batch is completed. Roles can often be delayed for a variety of reasons--some within their control some not. At the end of the day they are only able to progress candidates to the relevant statuses once the business has given them a clear instruction to do so´´´´
hope this makes sense to u dear....
but all u can do at this point is to wait for further instructions...and have faith the next step will be positive.....
also i advice u to check this page:::
      http://www.expatforum.com/expats/dubai-expat-forum-expats-living-dubai/115361-emirates-dnata-jobs-thread.html
a very informative page about ek and people that applies for other roles than cc....
wishing u the best dear...hope i could be to some help for u
good luck...hope u hear good news soon
      xxx

  63. Hi CCD! Thank you for a wealth of information that makes the nerves of this journey easier to bear!! I submitted my application on the Emirates website with hopes that I will be invited to an AD taking place on 16 July 2015 in a town close to mine. Is there enough time between then and now for me to get an invitation??? Is it necessary for me to keep submitting my application to get it attended to?? I have put my address in BIG, BOLD LETTERS when filling out the online application as the next venue :) :)

    1. hello dear
thank u for ur kind words
yeah there is enough time to still get a invite from them...plenty of time left....as its more than 1month left...i know people that applied 2 weeks before and got a invite within 2 weeks before the od/ad....
if its a open day than people can show up without an invite...if it says invite only than people have to apply to get a invite...
so i dont think it will be any problems....if u dont get an invite this time...re-apply again when they come to ur city again....
wishing u the best dear on 16th july...
      good luck

  65. Hello, CabinCrewDreamer.

I came across your blog and found it absolutely helpful. I have a question about the submission status.
My FI was on the 9th of June and I was told to wait for a reply for 4-6 weeks, but my submission status has been "Unsuccessful" even before the FI and it hasn't changed. I haven't received any emails or calls either. If you can't help me then please tell me who can, or any group i could join to get advice...
    thanks anyways

    1. hello dear
      hope ur well
so ur status was unsuccessful before u did the od/Ad/fi...and after its still unsuccessful...u say.....
but i think the timeline for this varies a lot from candidate to candidate....
      wait a bit more....and see how it goes...cause u should 100% get a email..specially once u done a final interview...
wishing u the best dear...all we can do is to wait...
      good luck

  66. Hello!

I see that in the online application it asked us if we know anyone who work for emirate, if we hv cousin that work in EK as CC for a long time, will that be more advantage? Or it just doesnt matter. Another question would be, the email i received from EK saying thank you for applying with us and if not hearing anything back within 6 weeks please assume that your application was decline.... But reading comments above it seems like they will sent you rejected email? Rhank you so much for youe time.

    1. Hello dear
yeah why not write that you do have a cousin that works for emirates....but noly add your cousin if you know for sure your cousin have a positive file with ek...and doesnt have any warnings or anything like that....ect...
if your online application gets rejected, u will see on ur portal...the status will change...either that or u get a email...
but sometimes people do attend open days...regardless if they applied online or not....
if ex ur status wont change or no emails will be sent to u..i advice u to attend a open day anyway :-)
      good luck dear
      wishing u the best
      xoxo
