Emirates and Etihad is OK
with having tattoos, as long as it is not visible when in uniform.
Qatar Airways have a zero tattoo policy. Regardless if the tattoos is visible or not.
But having said this, there are ways around it. Off the record so to speak.
Let's say for example that you have a tiny tattoo like this one below:
You really don't need to declare this tattoo. This tattoo can be covered by a bra. No one will ask you to remove your bra. So this tattoo on this location, you can hide this. This goes for Qatar Airways too. Even if they have a zero tattoo policy, no one will ever ask you to remove your bra. You can easily cover this tattoo with a bra. The same goes for example if you have a small tattoo close to your hips. You can cover that tattoo with a high waste panties. So there are ways around this.
Thanks for this awesome blog. Are visible SCARS a NO NO as well???
ReplyDeleteYour welcome and hope your well and happy :-)
DeleteAs for visible scars, i dont have much info about this..
BUT i have flown with crew who had visible scars here and there...one even had a visible scar on her face...
myself i do have a tiny visible scar on my eyebrow....and no one asked about this or said anything either....i didnt cover it either..
sorry i might not have solid info about this :-)
take care
Cabincrewdreamer, I have been reading your blog and it has been great! I have just been asked to attend an invitation only assessment day in a week's time. I have a small tattoo on my foot and after seeing this am freaked out! Is this an extremely strict policy? I mean, it's not like I would be barefoot on the plane. Thanks!
ReplyDeletehi dear....
Deletecongrats on getting ur invite for the assessment..wish u all the best dear
as for ur foot tattoo it depends on where it is exactly...but if its not visible when wearing ex court shoes than you should not be worried....cause no one really checks your feet....
but still the rules and regulations says we shouldnt have any tattoos on those areas.....just in case anyone finds out...
also u can cover ur foot tattoo with makeup ect....
i once flew with a cabin manager who had a scorpio tattoo on her foot which wasnt visible but if u would go closer and look in detail on her foot you would see it a bit, she would cover it with derma color makeup....
crew always have stockings on too, so this helps to cover a bit...little bit
but you should always be careful no one sees this, ex when u change shoes on the aircraft, cause on the aircraft you change shoes before the service to on board shoes, or ex during uniform fitting, you will try on shoes ect, so be careful no one sees that....
beside from these no one directly will see this tattoo of urs....if its small
good luck...wish u the best
have a lovely day
xx
Thank you so much for your response! I definitely feel a little better now :) I usually cover it with a band aid anyway because I get blisters on my feet. Do you think that I should declare it on assessment day, or just keep it covered up? If I were lucky enough to get through to training, do you think they would see it when they do the swimming test in the pool? Thanks again!
Deleteur welcome dear....
Deleteregarding ur tattoo...if i were u i would not declare it cause its so tiny and its kind of in a no no area..so it would be taking a risk of getting a rejection during the assessment if u declared it...thats my personal opinion ....
but u do what u feel is best for u
also during the ditching test in the pool during the training, u can always cover it with a band aid as u said.....no one would notice.....
and wouldn't suspect anything anyway....
have a lovely day dear
and good luck with everything....
xxxx
Dear Cabincrewdreamer,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information regards to scars and tattoos. Ive been invited to an Assessment Day and freaking out too....I have a small Light Pink tattoo on my wrist (cant been seen if I wear a watch) and I would like to know if they search your body for scars and tattoos as I read on another blog they do so and there is no point in hiding it from them. I can cover it with makeup and my watch. I'm busy in the process to get it remove (don't want to throw a great opportunity like this away) and I don't want to declare it. Are you really able to hide it?
hi dear Berenice!
Deleteso cool u been invited to etihad assessment, good luck!!!
when i did my etihad assessment in 2011, they told us to show them our nails/hands...we just reached out our hands/nails thats it....while wearing the jacket ect....no one told me to take off my jacket or anything....or they didnt search anything else...only looked......
i think sometimes they do this today too.....
i also have a tattoo which i didnt declared as its not visible while wearing the uniform....i kind of felt its not necessary to declare this
so dont worry during the assessment day, cover it with makeup and a watch....
good ur in the process of removing it though!
in abu dhabi, during the medical exams, u do medical exams in two medical clinics...one etihads own clinic...and one local hospital....the local hospital only take blood tests from u.....so there perhaps u have to take off ur watch ect....
in the etihad clinic they will also take blood tests and give vaccination...while u wear only a white t-shirt...
no one really search ur body, but if a tattoo is found or is visible to any doctors they will take actions upon discovery ect....
as a batchmate of mine had a wrist tattoo and she had covered it, still they had found out, as her wrist tattoo was big, so she got fired....
but u say ur in the process of removing it, so i bet the small tattoo u have will not be so visible even after 1 session of laser removal ect
so u dont have to worry about this
as for co workers on board etihad having wrist tattoos???
YES, 100% i have flown with 3 co workers who had wrist tattoos...that they had covered under a watch and make up....i even one day with a friend on a layover and she had a wrist tattoo done......lol......
she covered it under a watch and makeup..............
so crew having tattoos is something that is normal....but u just have to hide it.....cause no one will really see..until u show it....or someone report u for having one if they knew...ect........
good luck on ur assessment......wish u the best xxx
hi, currently i am on braces. shall i try for emirates interview on next week?
ReplyDeletehi dear
Deleteas far as i know of, emirates dont hire people with braces...you have to wait and when u have taken them off you can try and ur chances would be greater....i know a girl who went to ek od and one of the recruiters there told her to come back once they are off and try again....
this is what i know off :-)
have a nice day

Hey. I was wondering if you could inform me of the Emirates policy for scars. Would a scar around 4inches long on the inside of your ankle be a no go? it probably wont even be visible when wearing skin coloured tights.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
hi dear....
Deletefirst off read this pre.employment medical exam paper all ek crew get before they join...their is tons of info in there....i dont know if there is any info about scars or not but worth take a look at anyway...
http://www.docdroid.net/9t8e/pre-employment-medical-examination-form-for-cabin-crew-only.pdf.html
as for ur scar on the inside of ur ankle, and u mentioned that it wont even be visible when wearing skin colored stockings....so than i dont think u should be worried about that....
u dont even need to declare this...if its not that visible....
have a lovely day dear
good luck
xx
What attire do you wear during the swim test?
ReplyDeleteduring the ditching exam in the training, you dont wear swim wear...
Deleteu can choose to wear a t-shirt or a long sleeve shirt...and kind of yoga pants...thats it...
the ditching pool looks like this:

Hello, Im freaking out right now! I got the job at Emirates but I have a scar that i didnt declare cuz the RO said you didnt have to declare a small scar. The thing is that my scar is from a tatto removal, so its shaped like a heart and i didnt tell about it. Its on my foot, on the side so not very visible in shoes, you might se a bit of it. What do you think I should do now? Im thinkog of emailing them and tell them about it because I dont want to be sent back home from Dubai.. Or do you think that they will se it if i go there and not tell them about it?
ReplyDeletehi dear
Deletefirst off congratulations for scoring the job...well done....enjoy the victory
its not everyone who get the chance to work for ek....so well done....lucky u
as for ur tattoo on ur foot...dont worry dear
no one will ever know that small tattoo/scar of urs which u say wont be visible while wearing shoes.. (cabin shoes)
i have a friend in emirates who also had a tattoo on ur foot but it wasnt visible.. she told me they didnt check in that area...
no one will know unless u tell them
dont email them,,,cause these companies can sometimes make a big deal from nothing and blow situations up for nothing
the only time i can think of that u perhaps have to take off ur shoes will be during the weight control during ur medical exam
but its easy for u to cover that scar, with some makeup
or just put a bandaid on it....
thats the only time i can think of when the doctors tell u to take off ur shoes
so dont worry dear.....its not visible ur scar....so there is no reason for u to be worried!!!!
wish u the best in dubai/with ek....good luck
have a lovely day
xxxx
Thanks for the fast answer! I think if I put makeup on it, the makeup will be rubbed of by the shoes? If you have a bandiad can they tell u to remove it and show whats under?
DeleteAnd is it possible to get sent home because of a scar? Thats just mean.. I think if they as what the scar is from I will tell them that i did a henna tattoo that got infected, what do you think about that?
Thank you again fot your help, you really saved my day, couldn sleep last night cuz I was thinking about this.. haha
it depends what makeup u would chose on ur foot, ect there are water proof foundation or something called derma color i know people have used for their tattoos...which will last a long time.....
Deleteno i dont think they will ask u to remove ur bandaid, and be that suspicious...like that
it all depends on how big the scar is....these companies dont allow people who have ex big surgery scars ect...scars that would show...and would ruin the image ect....thats why they dont want people with visible scars
but its on ur foot and its tiny and not visible so dont worry about that dear
yeah the henna tattoos would be cool to say, and that it got infected.....
but i doubt they will even ask anything because its not on a place people would first look at
i fully understand ur worry/doubt about this scar ect....
but i truly cant find a reason for them to find this scar of urs, and if they would ever find it, that they would fire u or whatever....its not likely that this would happen
by the way i know a girl who had a tiny wrist tattoo which she covered up and hide under her watch and she is still working with emirates....
so dont worry dear
rest assure this scar of urs isnt something that would make them send u home
also emirates pay tons of money to bring candidates to dubai..and pay tons of money for everything....they wont easily send people home for nothing.....
take care dear
xxx
I am having a bit of a dilemma. I have a tattoo below the neck line on my back, which is being removed but still looks like a tattoo. I was wondering whether the fact I had a tattoo at all affects my chances even though it can't be seen when wearing uniform. I have an assessment day in two weeks and feel like im setting myself for failure once again just because of my tattoo. Even though its within the boundaries does it really matter at the end of the day? a tattoo is a tattoo...
ReplyDeletesome advice would be brilliant!
thank you.
Hi dear
Deleteas long as its not seen while u wear the uniform than ur safe and dont need to declare it...cause rarely will anyone check in that area....
and u even started the tattoo removal process....so i dont find any reason for u to declare this tattoo....
they might reject u if u tell them because of the position of the tattoo..even if its not seen while wearing the uniform....
but tons of crew have tattoos....i had tattoos when i joined etihad...i never declared any of them cause none of them were seen while wearing the uniform....even during the medical exams the nurse did see 1 of my tattoos but didnt say anything :-)
but u do what u feel is right for u :-) to declare or not to declare
good luck at ur assessment in 2 weeks
wish u the best

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI want to say your blog is great :D
I have some questions to you If you can answer to me :*
I have a tattoo in my back..but it s on the spine and back of the neck too....like the one that Victoria Beckam have it on her back ( I cant attach photo to show you, but you can check if you want to see how it looks)
I want s bad to be part of cabin crew at Emirates of Etihad. I m from Romania, so Emirates don't have AD so soon...but Etihad have it on 07 th July...I want to send the CV to Etihad, but I am afraid because my tattoo...
I ve seen some photos where some girls from Etihad were using a scarf(red or orange) in the uniform...but I really don't know if it can be seen while I m wearing the Etihad uniform.
Can you please help me with some info?
Thank you in advance
Good luck in your life
Wish you the best, kisses
dear ruxandra
Deletehope ur good dear
as for the question u had...i googled victoria beckham tattoo and saw the back/neck tattoo u mentioned...
i fully understand the interest/passion u have for this role....
first let me show u some pictures from my training and what we wore...so u get a picture of how it will be....(if u would cover ur tattoo)
this is during the ditching:
http://i57.tinypic.com/5pljj6.jpg
this is what we wore during the medical exams:
http://i61.tinypic.com/335d10x.jpg
this is what we wore during the training before we got the unifom:
http://i60.tinypic.com/qxkrb8.jpg
this is with our uniform on during our aviation health training:
http://i58.tinypic.com/xgl8hs.jpg
now u get a idea of what we wore during the training...cause thats the vital time when someone might find out about ur tattoo.....or not......
during the medical exams....u can of course hide the tattoo with makeup...but know everyone have to have the hair up in a bun...or if u have short hair u can hide it under ur short hair + the make up covering the tattoo...
when u go to the airport, u will wearing the uniform and have the hat on, with the scarf...so that can be hidden....
but during the service onboard u have the scarf
than i will tell u a crazy story which might give u HOPE
once i had a flight to london and i met this very cool co worker, she and i were into tattoos...so both she and i went and had tattoos during our layover in london....SHE INKED 2 things...she had a tattoo on her WRIST yes wristtttttt!!!! but covered it with her watch and makeup.....no one noticed of course....than she INKED a star back on her neck, way up....and she covered this with makeup...and she kind of had baby hair behind...so even if she had the bun and her hair up..the scarf and her baby hair covered it + the makeup.....
i heard derma color is good to hide tattoos/scars ect......
of course u will be able to hide this with makeup and the scarf...!!!! during ur job as a cabin crew....
IF u will be able to hide this during the training i dont know........
i attached for u the pics....of the stuff we will wear during various stages in the training....
everyone in emirates and etihad have tattoos...and everyone hide it...so thats no problem.....
but the main problem is to hide it during the training.....cause thats where the trainers will observe u and fire folks...ect if they find out.....
but during the actual job as a cabin crew no one checks like that and ur free....
if i were in ur shoes 100% i would attend any emirates etihad assessment or open day...DO IT....
Than if i were u and i got successful i would hide it...the best i could...and fly over.......
taking that risk...i would do that......knowing i might get caught.....
but know ruxandra that its not like the people there will do a body control or check people for tattoos...its not like that.....if people can hide it no one will know...if u wont tell anyone no one will know......its the time when its visible and someone see it.......thats the problem.............
cause i have tons of tattoos and i never declared the tattoos i had....1 of my tattoos were borderline visible while wearing the uniform...but still i covered it with makeup.......no one asked...i didnt tell anyone...no one saw.....i was fine................
so its up to u dear.....
if ur willing to take the risk
and of course everything we do in life is a risk...
but its those risks we take that most often make us win :-)
this is all i have to say regarding this dear...
and its up to u to do what u feel is best for u
....... :-)
good luck .....have a lovely summer
hugssssssssssss
xxxxxxxx
Thank you from my heart for your answer, it is so complete :D and very helpful.
DeleteI don t know what to say...your story is amazing...but the good thing is that you did the tattoos after all the medical exams and all...
From what I see....I couldn't wear that white t shirt at the medicals...because tattoo would be seen....
and if I cover it with make up...the t shirt will not be dirty from the foundation? :D This is the big dilemma...because I m sure it will transfer to the white t shirt...:(
so I guess that the only thing I could do to get the job is to laser remove it....but this takes a lot of time....from 5 to 8 or even more months...
DeleteLet s say they accept me...is there any change to say them I will join a little bit later??? Like 4-5 months? :))) so I have time to do some sessions of laser removal?
dear ruxandra....
Deleteur welcome dear...im happy to shed light on whatever i know..
but remember i already had tattoos when i joined etihad i never declared them...than i inked new tattoos during few of my layovers too...
as for the white t-shirt during the medical we wore...if u cover ur tattoos with makeup...even if u had the t-shirt on ..i dont think people would see...
there are some water proof makeup u can find...that doesnt smear off when wearing clothes....than the t-shirt wont get dirty....
and dear no one checks the t-shirts once u finished wearing it...everyone threw the t-shirts in a bag....its not u give the t-shirt one by one to one person...
during the final interview they will ask u for ur notice period and u can of course say up to 3 months i think.....
also u dont need to laser remove the whole tattoo....if u feel u need to do a laser removal...do just the neck part...no need to erase the tattoo on the back cause thats not visible while wearing the uniform....just perhaps the neck part.......
there is always ways to whatever we want in life......we just need to find the roads....and tricks...to make it happen
and if u want this badly enough dont let ur tattoo stop u!!!!
take care dear
xxx
ty again for your quick answer :D
Deletebut...what reason you think would be strong enough to convince them to join after 3 months? :D cause obviously I cant tell them I need to laser remove my tattoo :D
and by covering my tattoo with waterproof make up , you mean to cover the neck area or the whole tattoo? :D
thank you again
PS: you have a FB account? I would like to add you to see photos from your layovers or why not to become friends :D kisss have a good day/night :D
hi dear....
Deleteabout the notice period, its not like you have to explain for them...if they ask u can say its either work/studies or personal matters....the candidates have right to have a notice period of 1-3 months of notice period....it might even be longer....
as for covering ur tattoo...yes i mean only cover the neck area...cause no one will see the rest....
if u feel safer in covering the whole part do so too.....but know that no one will see the tattoos in ur back once wearing the uniform...
its only the neck part u should think about.....
wish u the best dear
have a great day
xxxx
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI seriously need an advice for this plssss. I got an offer from Emirates and my DOJ is in August. I do not have any tattoos but there is this scar on my right upper arm which is under NO OK area and its very visible. I did not declare as i was too afraid got rejection during interviews. After FI, I started off the laser treatment to get rid off even before I got the result but the scar is very deep in redness although it has been 3 laser treatments but the redness and the visibility is still there. I don't know what should I do about it really. Should I give up the position?
If they discovered it during training or medical I will get to sent home with no exception right? I have come this far and I should not give up however it cannot stop me from thinking if I got rejected and sent home from Dubai. I cannot imagine that happen on me. Gonna lose my current job, money and time and everything basically. I can't afford that. I have read a blog online from current emirates crew and she was saying the same thing as well. We will asked to remove our coats for skin check in medical centre... Is that true? Please please........ I need to hear from someone so badly. If anything I can do I am more than willing on doing it as long as they don't eliminate me... :'(
hi dear hope ur doing well
Deletewow first off congratulations for scoring the job with emirates well done....i hope u can enjoy this victory
what emirates mean about they dont allow people with scars is mostly those who have big surgery scars that are very deep and not good looking perhaps....
i dont know how visible ur scar is...or how big it is...but i doubt this would cause any big issues....its not a tattoo so u can be calm.....they are way more strict about tattoos....
of course u shouldnt give up this position....
what many crew actually does is to cover these scars with makeup...or this so called brand DERMACOLOR...dont know if u heard about this....
u started with laser treatments u mentioned so im sure this will be fine....
during medicals i think its ok actually its not like the do a body search and search for tattoos and scars during medicals....its more during the training...if the trainers find out.....i never heard that actually that they do a body search/ skin test...during medicals....
its only qatar that does a body/ skin test lol
but lets say they find out and think its not acceptable...u will than have a meeting....than they decide what to do....its not like they fire people left to right just like this....
emirates spent a lot of money on people coming over...so they wont fire people that easy as others believe...
i have a friend who joined emirates 1,5 years ago and she had a wrist tattoo which she had it removed by surgery...and yet no one discovered this...or saw this and it was actually a big wrist tattoo...the surgery left a scar too...she i still working there....
i understand ur worries/doubts and fears about this...but at least its not a tattoo...so feel relaxed if possible that its not a tattoo...
but u know everything in life is a risk....and in order to change and do what we want in life we need to JUMP and make that jump...and risk stuff.....and there is no way for u to find out than just to go...if u declined the offer of course u will regret this and think WHAT IF?
myself i have tons of tattoos and i never declared this when i joined etihad...and no one found out...during the vaccinations the nurse even saw one of my tattoos but nothing happened....again risks in life....
i really doubt this would be a issue actually....
try to focus on something else and not so much about this and try not to be so worried...even if i know its difficult to not be worried.....try to relax ur thoughts.....
wish u the best dear
have a lovely summer
take care
xxxxxxxx
Ahh that's so sweet of you!!! Thank you so much for your lovely words. It meant alot for me really. I have just made an appointment to undergo a surgery called Scar Revision since the progress of laser treatment is quite slow. Well, I would do anything that I could to make it look better for now. The scar is actually quite bad , the redness quite stubborn. Hopefully the surgeon will does a good job and the recovery will speed up! Thanks again dear! appreciate your reply. xxx
DeleteGood luck dear with everything, and i hope everything will work out for u and u can relax and focus on other things wish u the best take care ♥
DeleteHi i have a assessment day with Emirates and i have a small tatto on my lower arm...do u know if i cover it with long sleeve shirt if they gonna ask me and look at my arms??I dont wanna say ive got one as i getting it removed...or should i just not even go to the AD??
ReplyDeletehi dear hope ur good...
Deleteregarding ur tattoo
no during emirates od/ad/fi they will not ask u to take off your jacket/shirt to show anything...they wont do a check either...all they will ask u is if u have any tattoos...if u do they will ask u to point this out in some kind of tattoo declaration form...
and in ur case u should 100% not declare ur tattoo...cause thats on a NO NO area....and ur getting it removed too...so NEVER declare the tattoo!!!
if u get the job...lets say from final interview to doj....it takes many months....so during this time u can have a laser removal.....so u will work this out im sure....
but never declare this tattoo...cause i know few people who declared their tattoo which was visible while wearing the uniform..and they told the recruiters IM GOING TO HAVE IT REMOVED...but the recruiters told them
have it removed first...than come back...so they got rejected.....
but 100% u should do this assessment and see how far u go...!!! u wont lose anything by attending....
what i advice u// and what i would have done if i was in ur shoes......is do ur assessment and see how far u go.....if u make it to FI...and later on get ur golden call...start ur tattoo removal process :-)
good luck dear
have a lovely summer

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI got accepted as a male cabin crew for Emirates. My OD/AD/FI were last month, and my DOJ is in four weeks. I don't think I have time to do a tattoo removal service before my DOJ because it's so soon. My tattoo is of medium size on my upper forearm. I'm not sure if I should declare it, or cover it up with makeup and fly to Dubai to risk being sent back home. Do you think they'll find out during the medicals or training? How intensely does Emirates look at our arms/skin? I think I can cover it up pretty well, but I'm just really nervous. Also, are the tattoo requirements different for men and women in regards to the arms? Does it all just depend on how well you can cover it up making it unnoticeable?
hi dear hope ur doing well
Deleteand big congrats to u dear for scoring the emirates cc job...+ that ur a male too..i know how difficult it is to score this job when ur a male...because they dont hire many males ect...so lucky u....and well done.........
regarding ur tattoo....
its a tricky situation....
the thing is when u work as a male crew onboard you guys will wear long sleeve shirts so no one will see ur tattoo...so when it comes to the job itself...ur safe...
BUT
during the training you guys will wear these read shirts during the first weeks before u guys will wear the uniform....
http://i48.servimg.com/u/f48/11/18/24/85/000110.jpg
these read shirts i have attached above...
so if the trainers see ur tattoo...i dont know what they will do....
during the medicals its fine i think...
i heard that emirates dont control or do a body check for tattoos during the medical exam.....
its during the training people should watch out because the trainers will observe you...although no body check will be done....
its during the training that most people with tattoos will be fired...because the trainers saw the tattoos...
but i do believe its more strict for the female crew...regarding visible tattoos...cause they will wear short sleeve ect on board....
i actually know few male crew in emirates who have tattoos....still works there.....1 of them even have a long sleeve tattoo LOL...but its fine cause the male wear long sleeve shirts onbaord.....
but 100% i assume during the training when wearing those red shirts....no tattoos should be visible.....
if u can cover ur tattoo with makeup and it wont be visible while wearing that red shirt during the first weeks in training than ur good to go.......
so its up to u dear...
but if i were u...i would 100% go...and take the risk....even if that risk would meant being sent home......
in life we need to take risks....if we never took any we would never go anywhere or achieve anything...
i hope it works out for u dear...and hope u will be able to cover ur tattoo....
sending u all the best luck in the world....
take care
have a lovely summer

Hi Dear,
ReplyDeleteI just read through your post and especially the question and answer form.
First of all THANKS for answering all these questions with such complete answers, it does not happen often enough.
And secondly my question:
I also do have a tattoo and as many above its a foot tattoo. It is an about 7cm long quote and black. It is visible in most balerina flats, but I do own a few pair of shoes which cover it up quite well. Also I can easyly cover it up with make up, especially when wearing tights ;) Pluss I am doing laser treatment at the moment so that should make it even easier.
Never the less I am super nervous because of the pool exercise and what would happen if they find it. I know that they can and probably will send me home for it. I was just wondering if thats the case. Will I have to pay them back any money, for the flight, training etc.
Thank you so much for this and all previous responses!
sweetyy hello to u
Deleteand thank u for being so kind....appreciate ur words dear....i try to help as much as i can....if its to any help than im happy...although i wish i could do more :-)
as for the tattoo of urs, u mentioned....the thing is during training and when u work as a crew on board u will wear court shoes: ex here:
http://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/images/products/zoom/1337089570-38197200.jpg
something like this.....
i have worked with few co workers who had tattoos on their foot as well....i even flew with a CABIN MANAGER who had a big tattoo on her foot..but she told me she cover it with makeup and the stockings...if she didnt tell me she had that tattoo...i would never had seen it or guessed it....
anyhow what i mean here is if u can hide it ..there will be NO PROBLEM
a lotttttttt of crew have tattoos...
also u already started with laser removal so i doubt this tattoo of urs would be discovered by any during training or work...
but as u mentioned it might get a bit tricky during the ditching session...thats the ONLY moment i can think of where u need to hide ur tattoo 100%
i heard a brand name derma color is good when it comes to covering up tattoos...
see if u can find makeup that is water proof ect.....
but the thing is during the ditching, u wont wear swim wear...u will wear ex yoga pants...or t-shirt ect
ex here a pic from my ditching session...
http://i60.tinypic.com/984wif.jpg
so what i mean here is, it will distract the trainer who is holding this ditching session....i doubt this trainer during ditching will scan every single candidate for tattos...when she or he is having a educational ditching session....
those candidates who get caught...isnt when trainers scan or observe in detail like zoom in on each candidate looking for flaws ect....
if the tattoos catch the eye of the trainer than yeah it will be a problem than
so during ditching...u guys will be in the water....and having various clothes on...so a lot of motion happening....
its not like u guys sitting in the class room...and the trainer will check u guys out....
so thats a positive thing....u guys will be in a lot of motion that it might be a bit difficult for the trainer to spot ur tattoo....
anyhow if trainer discover ur tattoo....u will be called into some kind of ´´disciplinary meeting´´ thats what they call it lol
and i dont know what goes on during such meeting....but if they send some candidate home...yeah there will be some amount of money to be paid by the candidate...but i dont know how much........
anyhow during this ditching session...if possible find some large long yoga pants ect....
if you guys are standing in a group during the ditching ..try to stand behind some girls...to hide urself...a bit...and still look natural ect....
so try to find some tricks like this....example once on the rafting boat....try to sit in the raft in a way ur legs would be crossed ect.....
i understand fully its tricky and stressful situation for u......

Somehow my earlier reply got lost, so here it comes again J
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your prompt and so complete answer, you don’t know how much it helps J
I am honestly “only” worried about the ditching tests. You never know whats going to happen. You might do a brilliant job in covering the tat and then someone steps on your foot and smears it and all the sudden it’s clearly visible. I therefore want to take as many precussions as possible but also be aware of what is going to happen just in case they DO find it.
So lets go to the questions:
1) You stated earlier you know someone who got sent back home, do you think it would be possible to get into contact that person and hask how much it is exactly that you have to pay back
2) When at the doctor for the weighting test. Do you think if I wear socks underneath my shoes they would make me take them off?
3) Regarding the yoga pants. Are those pants I bring from home or are those pants they provide. I for example already of a bunch of bulky pants that could probably hide it quite well, also there are those dancing pants with a strap to go underneath your foot. I could simply bring a pair of those ;)
Again, thank you so, so much for your support and have a lovely weekend.
Hi dear...
Deletehope ur well....
no worries dear and im happy to help in whatever way i can...
as for the questions u have::::::
1) You stated earlier you know someone who got sent back home, do you think it would be possible to get into contact that person and ask how much it is exactly that you have to pay back
yeah someone from my batch had a wrist tattoo and the someone in the training found out...so they fired her....but i have no contact with this batchmate of mine unfortunately...and i have no idea how much is the cost to be paid by the candidate when they get sent home...cause i never known anyone THAT close that would share this with me...i only knew friends of friends..or that batchmate of mine...but i wasnt close to her........
2) When at the doctor for the weighting test. Do you think if I wear socks underneath my shoes they would make me take them off?
Perhaps if u would ask the doctor if u can wear a sock than she might get suspicious... but i remember when we did the weighting exam...the doctor was more focused on setting the settings on this scale and looking at that screen ect....we both did....so if u cover it with makeup....im sure it will be ok....
i had tattoos when i joined etihad..i never declared them...one of my tattoos was borderline on a big no no area..like on my arm/shoulder....one of the nurse saw this tattoo when she did the vaccinations on me....but nothing happened.....i dont know if i was lucky or perhaps the doctors in the medical clinic doesnt care about such stuff.....and perhaps its THE TRAINERS on the training that we should be careful for....
3) Regarding the yoga pants. Are those pants I bring from home or are those pants they provide. I for example already of a bunch of bulky pants that could probably hide it quite well, also there are those dancing pants with a strap to go underneath your foot. I could simply bring a pair of those ;)
during the ditching they tell us to wear long pants..and t.shirt...and no swim-wear ect...dont know if u looked at the pic i attached for u ...from my ditching with my batch and the stuff we wore....
here u can look again:
http://oi60.tinypic.com/984wif.jpg
its like whatever clothes we want to wear...as long as its t-shirt or long sleeve shirt and pants....so u can wear whatever u want....but no jeans of course.....mostly yoga pants and t-shirt would be fine....
no worries dear whatever questions u have send them over and if i can help 100% i will....wish u also a lovely weekend and be safe
take care
hugssss
hi Im going to an open day on Saturday and I have a small cherry tattoo on the inside of my wrist which I can cover with a watch, I will be going wearing the watch but will they instantly turn me away when I declare it or will they be okay with it providing I always wear a watch? I also have a small line of writing on the back of my neck but towards the lower part and a collar covers it will I have to declare that one also? Im worried and im racking my brains outtttt !!!
ReplyDeletedear olivia..... 100% emirates or etihad will not pass u if u declare this tattoo of urs.. when it comes to wrist tattoos they are super strict about this
Deleteit doesnt matter if u would tell them u would hide this with a watch ect....
so i advice u to never declare this wrist tattoo...
but if i were u, i would still attend either ek or ey open day....and see how far u go.....
regarding the tattoo on the back of ur neck...again this one is a no no too....so i advice u to not declare none of ur tattoos
i have known girls with tattoos in a visible area and they declared the tattoos and the girls even told the recruiters they wouldnt mind removing them before their date of join if they would be successful BUT the recruiters told them to remove the tattoos than RE--APPLY again.......
so if people have tattoos in no no areas....i advice everyone not to declare them.....
u should 100% go attend....and not declare ur tattoos....
than if u get successful i advice u to laser remove ur wrist tattoo if possible...cause with other tattoos its possible to hide or cover up with makeup...but in the wrist area....it wont be possible to hide...cause during the medical exams in dubai/abu dhabi....they will ask u to remove ur watch or bracelet or whatever folks have..for various medical exams.....
ex u guys might have to do a chest xray ect ect and no watches or jewelery are allowed ect......
it goes for both ek and ey......
but go and attend dear...and see how how it goes.....
i know a friend of mine who had a wrist tattoo...didnt declared it...anyhow got successful and got the job...than she had a tattoo surgery thingy....so she had it removes.....
cause i assume with laser it might take ages...and have a slower recovery time....
wishing u the best
good luck on saturday dear

Hey. First of all I would like to say huge thanks to you. Your answers are so helpful! Only with your help I feel ready for my coming assesment day! Could you please answer my question as well? I got rejected last time on etihad assessment day because I declared a tattoo on the back side of my neck. Now I've been invited ahain. I ordered special make up to cover it. It's not visible anymore. But if they know where to search they will find cz make up is a bit visible if you look straight forward on that place. So my question is:do they keep papers from previous interviews or I can go there without any fears as a newcomer telling them I dont have a tattoo? Thank you a lot. All the best wishes for you :*
ReplyDeleteHi dear
Delete10000 hugs for u lovely for being sooo kind...appreciate it...
regarding ur question.....if i were u i would not declare this tattoo of urs...as u noticed it seems they arnt accepting of candidates with tattoos on that spot u had ur tattoo because they rejected u...
anyhow i dont know if etihad save their previous papers from various assessments or not....
BUT even if u would not declare ur tattoo during ur coming assessment...the recruiters cant assume u have a tattoo or not...cause they wont do a body search and even if they would ask u ....u can simply say u have had it removed with laser......
i doubt they would remember every single question they asked the candidates and to whom and where....they travel all over the world and come across tons of candidates both online and on assessment days.....so i doubt they would remember every single detail ect....
also i doubt they have the time to go over every single detail from previous assessment days and double check with coming assessment days ect ect.....
of course u can tell them NO I DONT HAVE ANY TATTOOS...cause how would they know if u had it removed or not.....
these recruiters do tell candidates to GO HOME AND REMOVE UR TATTOO AND AFTER ITS REMOVED RE-APPLY AGAIN.....
there is no way for them to know who is who cause there is tons of applicants ect
anyhow lets say if that situation would come that the recruiter would recognize u and say perhaps: I REMEMBER LAST TIME U MENTIONED U HAD A TATTOO? DO U STILL HAVE A TATTOO ?
than just say i was in the process of removing it and i took the time to remove it and not its removed ect
:-)
i doubt they would ask this....but just in case this ever would come up.......
so go there without any fear .....there is tons of candidates who doesnt declare their tattoos and got the job
im one of them...i have tons of tattoos but never declared mine....
wishing u the best dear
and good luck on ur coming assessment day...

Thank you so much, Cabincrewdreamer! You gave me hope.

DeleteHelp needed!!
ReplyDeleteI got to my final interview and I read you cant have tattoos including eyebrows. I have mine semi permanent and they look very natural I still have hair as well I did it to enhance them, do you know how strict they are? the recruiter saw me face tp face and never mentioned them. I don't want this to spoil my chances.
hi dear....
Deletethe recruiters would never invite u for the interview or pass u through to the interview if they didnt approve of the way u looked...so ur safe...
and i bet ur eye brows looks super natural and the recruiters didnt notice...
there are tons of crew who draw their eye brows....so they perhaps thoughts u draw them....
but in my opinion ur safe....as long as u made it to the FI...it means they made the decision and were totally ok with how u look ect.....
so dont worry about that dear...but dont mention this to anyone...i mean the fact u ink ur tattoos a bit....i feel there is no reason for the company to know this..... :-)
wishing u the best dear...and good luck with everything
have a lovely saturday

Hey! I'm in the same situation! I have my join date and I'm very worried! Is there any point that you are asked to remove all of your makeup so they can check? Do they check for tatooed eyebrows ? .. When getting your medical are you still allowed to wear makeup? Help please! I'm so worried it's going to ruin my chances thankyou xxx
Deletehi dear lisa....
Deletethere is no need to be worried dear...u guys will be wearing makeup at all times....no they dont check for tattooes eye brows or anything...but as long as ur eye brows look natural ur good to go....u guys will be having a grooming session where the grooming manager will check ur makeup and nails and hair ect.....whatever she might think doesnt look good she will advice u guys....but even during this session everyone has to be wearing makeup....during medicals and everywhere else...to and from the training...or to and from the medicals...ect ect..makeup has to be on at all times....
there is nowhere i can think of related to the training or work where they tell u to remove ur makeup ...
even during the grooming session u guys will be wearing makeup on...perhaps remove some blush or remove the lipstick to try on various colors or blushes ect....
so dont worry about that dear..
have a nice day
xoxoxo
Hi darling,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all thank you for all this great information you have shared with us it's certainly made me feel so much more relaxed about going along to the emirates open day next week! I have a quick question for you; I do have a small Arabic word written across my wrist, it can be covered with a watch which I will be doing for my open day next week! If I was lucky enough to get a position with them would you suggest starting laser removal ASAP? Many thanks! Xxxxxx
hiiii dear hope ur well....
Deletethank u sweety for ur kind words....
wishing u all the best on ur ek open day next week.. may u return back with good news....
as for the wrist tattoo u have....yes go do ur open day/ad/FI covering ur tattoo with a watch and makeup ect....
than wait for the golden call and ur date of joining...once u got those THAN i would advice u to start with the laser removal....
if ur tattoo were somewhere else or not visible ect....than i would advice u to just hide it and not even declare it ect.....as i have friends who have tattoos who joined emirates without declaring it....but it wasnt visible ect.....
also the timeline from Fi to date of joining with emirates is sooo long...can be anything from 2months to 5 months ect...so u would have plenty of time to do the laser removal.....
good luck dear next week ❤
take care
xoxoxo
In the medical can you wear makeup? Is there any time you have to have your makeup removed to show your face ? .. What is the chances of them noticing my eyebrows are semi permanent ? I'm so worried! Any help would be amazing! If I don't have to take my makeup of at anytime infront of someone I should be okay! Thankyou and well done with all your answers xxx
ReplyDeletehi dear....
Deleteat all times the minute u step ur foot outside ur accommodation u have to wear makeup....regardless of what u guys will be doing u guys will have makeup on to and from the training or medicals or working ect ect.......even during the ditching makeup has to be on....there is no stage where they tell u to remove ur makeup to show ur face or whatever it is.....
ex during the grooming session u guys will be having,,they wont tell u guys to remove every single makeup u guys have....but perhaps u will remove ur lipstick to try on various colors....or remove blush to try on a new color ect ect......
other than this...nothing too extreme...
have a nice day xxx

DeleteHi dear
Deletesorry it was a bit difficult for me to read this ´´ text language´´ of yours :-)
as im not used to this and dont write in this way :-) myself,
but from what i could understand from your message is that you have a visible tattoo on your arm....and you dont want to remove it...
well i dont know how big this tattoo is...and exactly where this tattoo is...
but if its a tiny tiny tattoo and you would be sure you could hide this with makeup,,,than why not try that?
and knowing the risk would be there for you in case someone finds out and would fire you ect....
but there is this brand called DERMACOLOR...and few of my co workers in etihad used that to cover their tattoos...and from what i saw it looked great and i didnt notice their tattoos...
so you either risk this and hide it with makeup....or do laser removal once you scored this job :-)
its a risk with everything....but if we dont try we would never know right :-)
wishing you the best
have a nice day dear

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am really interested in pursuing this career. I am going through a career change, leaving the corporate world and going after what I have always dreamed of doing. While I understand why this rule applies, learning of the strict NO visible tattoo policy is very disappointing. I have a small tattoo on my foot, about the size of a 50 cent piece. Unfortunately its in the middle of my foot so I don't think the shoe would cover it. Theatre make-up and stockings I believe would. Just wondering if they are at all lenient when the tattoo is small and discreet and/or make up can be applied to cover it.
I am particularly interested in applying for Emirates airline.
Thank you so much for your help xx
Hello dear
DeleteYayy for you that you made this decision to change your path and go to the aviation world....always positive changes :-)
as for your tattoo on your foot, yeah thats a big no no and i advice you to NEVER EVER declare this to regardless airline...cause than your chances would be zero...
what i advice you is to use makeup and than you have the stockings.....thats pretty much what you can use...if you dont want to laser remove it...
but of course there is HOPE for you!! i once flew with a cabin manager that had a massive tattoo on her foot...which was visible....but she had covered it with tons of good makeup and the stockings...i didnt even see it until she told me and pointed it out...and i didnt even notice the tattoo much either until she cleaned a bit of her foot.....
there are tonsss of crew that have tattoos in ek....but most folks dont declare this kind of things...IF they can hide it
but if you feel you can hide this foot tattoo very well...than GO FOR IT!!!
but again dont declare this to the recruiters because they will not give you a chance at all...as they are super strict with this
go and try your chances....
wish you the best dear and good luck!!!
take care

Thanks very much. This was very helpful :) xx
DeleteDuring the medical do girls wear stockings?
ReplyDeleteSorry if you have already answered this! Thanks for all your help, I've read this blog like 10 times through my Emirates recruitment process!!!
Hi dear Tasha...
Deletehope you are well
no worries dear you can ask whatever you like :-)
in etihad when we did the medicals in the etihad clinic we could not wear stockings....but we did wear stockings at the local clinic in abu dhabi...during the 2nd medical exams...
now with Emirates....i dont know dear...i would assume they would not let the candidates wear stockings during the medicals because during some parts you do xrays ect and they even told us to take off our bra during this xray in etihad/abu dhabi during our medicals because of the ´´chest xray´´ we did...
i assume in emirates there should be something like this too :-)
not sure though... :-)
good luck dear have a lovely friday

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, so helpful.
I know you have answered this question a million times, but i have to ask again just for my own peace of mind. I got invited to a recruitment day next week in toronto and am very nervous. I have two visible tattoos; both on the left arm, one on the inner bicep (roman numerals), and one on my outter wrist (2small starts). The one on my upper arm would be covered with the uniform and the one on my wrist, if worn a watch, would be covered. Both tattoos are easy to cover with makeup as they are not big. I am not going to declare that I have these tattoos, as they will absolutely not hire me. But it is okay to not declare and just cover them right?? Sorry to ask again, i am stressing out a bit and really really want to work for Emirates. Thank you so much !! xo
hi dear hope ur doing well
Deletewanted to wish u all the best next week on ur ek assessment...fingers crossed u score this :-)
as for tattoos....100% u should never ever declare these 2 tattoos of urs...because its in a no no area....
as for ur tattoo which is located on the inner bicep of urs, i assume its not a big one and u can simply cover it with makeup ect...and when you work the shirt the cabin crews work with, it will pretty much cover ur tattoo....
i doubt anyone would even look in that area either...around ur inner bicep i mean....
as for the tattoo on your outer wrist...this one might be a bit tricky....yeah u could cover this with makeup and the watch....what im thinking of is when u do ur chest xray during the medical exams....than people have to take off all watches and jewelery because of this xray.....so this makeup has to cover it well .....
its a risk of course....and knowing if anyone catches these tattoos of urs.....u would be sent home.....
but if i were u i would 100% take the risk....WHY? because i know tons of friends who work for emirates who had a tattoo before joining and didnt declare it but yet they got away with it.....so ITS DOABLE...
because its been done before
its not like they will examine ur body for tattoos.....those who got sent home because of visible tattoos...has been that they either told them during training...or anyone saw it during the training....
a lot of the cabin crews in ek has tattoos....both visible and none visible......they are good in hiding...ect
but i think u should go for it....and hide it well....and dont tell anyone.....its been done by many before...and i cant see a reason why u wouldnt be able to do this either.....
i did this too with etihad...i have tons of tattoos and i didnt declare any of them...1 of them was in a no no area too.....but no one saw anything and i didnt say anything....and i was good to go......
i dont know if u read in the above comments that once i flew with a co worker of mine and she and i went to a tattoo place during our layover and she INKED HER WRIST....lol..she covered it with a watch on our flight back...and since than she has been covering this wrist tattoo of hers hehehehe.........
but yeah with everything there is a risk...and i knew the risks too but i thought who cares lets do this heheheheh and it worked......
so try to think positive dear and go for it....and see how far u come... :-)
wishing u the best dear
take care
good luck

Hi!
ReplyDeleteWoww! you are doing a huge effort to help people ! really many thanksss !! I will join Qatar airways very soon , I did not declare that i had a surgery because of polycystic ovary, because i still have cysts in my ovary. It is not a dangerous illness but incurable, it cannot affect my work or my daily activities. so my question is:
will they ask me to take off my clothes during the medical examination in their clinic? I have just a small scars inside my naval . and 2 small scars on my belly . I am afraid they will send me home because i lied .
Waitnig for your opinion and Thank youuuuuu again !
hi dear
Deleteaww thank u so much dear for ur sweet words and kindness :-)
congratulations for ur new job at qatar....wishing u all the best...
doesnt matter what airline we work at, as long as we get the chance to be a part of that world..is a blessing in itself.....so thats awesome....
dear im sorry u had to do that surgery and go through all of that.....
regarding if candidates take off clothes during medical exams in qatar.....well i heard that some say they do..some say they dont....
myself i dont have much knowledge regarding qatar/cc...so i dont know this 100%....only rumors...so i dont have the facts about this....because i heard some say they do...some say they dont.....
but i assume they would never know u had this surgery because its not like they can find this via ur blood or via xray.....
so ur safe in the sense of no one will ever know...unless u tell them
none of these scars of urs would be a issue if qatar wouldnt ask u guys to take off ur clothes...during medical exam....as its not a visible thing while wearing the uniform....
as for the scar inside ur naval...i assume u can hide this wearing a large underwear :-)) that would go up to ur naval :-))
and i dont even know if anyone can see this scar inside ur naval.....if no one knew what this was or knew about this...
the scars on ur belly., i dont know......they might ask...they might not....
if i were in ur shoes, and they would ask me what these belly scars are...i would be telling them....that i had a ´´ innocent surgery´´ during my childhood heheheh
and create this ´´fake innocent childhood surgery´´ heheheheh
or something else....lol
emirates/etihad are a bit less strict....while i know qatar is strict...and they can blow up something small to big....
and i assume if they knew about ur surgery they would not hire u at all...qatar has their own regulations/rules...regardless what our own doctors would say...in our own countries...
ex etihad/emirates fire people for depression/ not hire candidates....regardless if the candidates have had depression 10 years ago or whatever...thats a big no no in their world....
so something that doesnt make sense for us....and is ridiculous ...they have this as their rules...in these middle eastern companies..
as for ur surgery... there is no choice than not declaring it...like u did...which i would do too, if i were in ur shoes.....
i assume with all these jobs,,,,comes a risk....and knowing we could be sent home....ect
ex i never declared my tattoos when i joined etihad....no one saw it and no one knew...so i was safe....but when i joined...i went over there knowing its a risk and that i could be sent home....
BUT i went anyway.....and it worked out ok...thank god...........
so i assume u would join qatar knowing there might be a risk in this...and u might be sent home....
nothing we can do about than just JUMP AND DO IT...and see how it goes...
thought i would just share some of my thoughts about this :-)
good luck with everything dear...and i hope u will join qatar with no issues
if u ever have the chance..please update me once u pass the medicals and everything in doha ....i would be happy to know....everything went well for u....and may u have the best time of ur life with qatar :-)
have a lovely day dear...and think positive :-)

Hi dear, please advice, is permanent eyebrows make-up strictly not allowed? It looks quite natural yet during grooming lessons somebody may take a very close look and see. But in general it looks nice and stylish, not too much and fake - it looks good on me. But I am afraid, but during FI noone said anything but now I am worried when I had read the info it is not allowed at all. Please advice...
ReplyDeletehi dear...
Deleteif u made it to the finals and no one mentioned this to u, than ur eye brows looks natural and u dont need to change anything.....as long as it looks natural...but yeah its not allowed to have ur eye brows inked like that.....but its ok to have it as long as it looks totally natural....
i have flown with many etihad crew who had eye brows like that and they looked natural but they didnt tell anyone....in emirates i have a friend who has her eye brows inked like that too....looks totally natural as well...
but they dont accept this because some might not know whats the ´´natural´´ look...some might ruin their eye brows and think it looks natural...so they dont allow this because of this
but dont tell anyone and u dont need to worry because obviously the recruiters thought it looked natural so thats ok....just dont tell anyone....
good luck
have a lovely day dear
xxx
Hi thank you a lot dear! Yes during final I recruiters were sitting close to me and noone mentioned anything yet I am afraid professional grooming manager will see it during grooming lessons and will ask me to wash out to see :( and they will send me back home for this :( In general it looks good, not to strong, but it may be noticeable that it is a tatoo :( I don't know I am so afraid maybe I shouldnt go there at all not to be send back home ...
Deletehi dear...
Deletethe fear/doubt u feel is natural..and we all feel fear/doubt for various reasons when we join these companies...its such a huge thing...
but dear u cant let this fear/doubt STOP u from fulfilling ur dream!!!
in life there is tons of risk we take...but if we didnt take those risks we would not go anywhere....
ex me..i had tons of tattoos which i didnt declare for etihad when i joined...i had doubt/fear too...they would find out...but they didnt find out and it was ok...
but i went to abu dhabi knowing there was a risk for me being sent home...
but i assure u dear that when u start flying or even in ur batch u will see there is tons of folks with eye brow tattoos....we had tons in etihad as well....
but if i were u, i would still take the risk and go....this is just such a huge opportunity to pass....
wishing u the best dear
have a lovely day
hugssss
Thank you dear, you are like a blessing from the sky and I really appreciate your prompt replies - you are a good person! I hope I will cover it a little and nobody will make any problems ... I will stress till the end but I know ... it's worth it. The last question I have dear is when exactly is the grooming day? In the middle of whole training or at the beginning? Thank you a lot dear.
Deleteno worries dear...thank u for ur kind words..ur soo sweet....
Deleteregarding the grooming in ek, it seems its week 4...in the training
take good care of urself dear...and have a lovely night
god bless u xxxx
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI have a vertical word tattoo on the side of my wrist, it is not tiny that you can hide with just a watch, but is not huge either. I was planning to hide it with make up and a watch on the assessment, however I am a little worried of the medicals, if I were to get the job. Do you think that make up alone would be sufficient? Would they see it when they are taking blood? I know you said you had a tattoo during all this process, was it hard to hide? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be dishonest, but I wouldn't like to miss an incredible opportunity either, thank you!!
hi dear
Deletehope ur well
if u declare your wrist tattoo either to ek/ey they will immediately reject you...so the choices u have is either remove the tattoos or take the risk and hide it with makeup...
they take wrist tattoos pretty serious...a girl hide her wrist tattoo and somehow they found out during the medicals and she got fired
the thing is during the medical exam u guys will be weather a t-shirt and they ask u to take off ur watch ect during xrays ect....
BUT the thing is as long as no one sees it...no one will know...its not like they will examine everyone ect.....those that got fired for tattoos was when the trainers or the people at the medical exam saw it...
as long no one sees it...and u can hide it....u have a shot...
but know that if u do decide to go....its a risk with that.....
yeah i never declared my tattoos...all my tattoos was not visible while wearing the tattoos except 1, 1 of my tattoos was borderline visible...but still i didnt declare it... the tattoo was on my shoulder/arm...so while wearing the t-shirt during the medical exams..no one saw it...
although 1 nurse saw that tattoo when she took my blood but she didnt say anything....other than that no one saw it....
so i was lucky....in that sense perhaps ...i dont know.....
but dear know that if u ever declare this wrist tattoo of urs, its a immediate no from them....
i once flew with a girl who had a wrist tattoo..she hide her tattoo with her watch and makeup.....but i dont know if she had that tattoos before joining or after....
also remember when working the crew will be wearing short sleeve shirts...both ek/ey have this....so if u can hide it with makeup...and ur sure no one sees it....than go for it....
so its up to u dear.....although everything in life is a risk....
but in my case of course i had to take the risk....even if the risk would meant me being sent home...
there are tons of crew having tattoos...both in ey/ek.... :-) people just hide it :-)
but if i were u, i would not declare it, and go and see how it would be...knowing i could be sent home....
:-)
wishing u the best dear...good luck with whatever u chose to do
:-) do what feels right for u
:-)

Hello!
ReplyDeleteI've always dreamed of being a FA but was stuck in a corporate job that didn't let me follow my dream. Over the years, I've got myself inked - One one my ribs, lower back. inside of my upper arm, upper back almost touching my neck, and a word on my wrist. I know I can cover it with makeup and the one on my wrist is narrow enough to be covered by a watch + makeup. The question is, should I apply at Etihad/Emirates/Qatar? Will my tattoo restrict me even if I manage to hide it during training and ditching?
hello dear
Deleteregarding the question u have about tattoos and these middle eastern airlines......one airline u need to cross off your list because of ur tattoos would be qatar...they are beyond strict and will go above and beyond to observe and detect and search for tattoos...so with the tattoos u have u wont be able to work for qatar...
but there is chances for u when it comes to etihad and emirates though...
during emirates medical exams it seems the candidates (both male and female) will be wearing black pants and red t-shirts...u can see the t.shirt here:
http://nisrene.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/img_0204.jpg
if u know ur tattoos wont be visible while wearing this red t-shirt than thats 1 step towards ur dream...
than we have ur wrist tattoo, during some of the xrays they do during the medical exam in etihad and emirates they tell u to take off every metal thingy...even ear rings and watches ect....
so if u know u can cover ur wrist tattoo without having a watch covering it...than ur even closer to ur dream for etihad and emirates....
myself i have tons of tattoos and when i joined etihad i never declared these tattoos...1 of my tattoos was even borderline in a no no area....
but i made it..and no one knew...no one saw them ect....
cause during the medical exam in etihad u will be wearing these:

again a white t-shirt....
than u will be wearing this when u work onboard:
http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/dXwrjEuDPfc/hqdefault.jpg
so u get a idea of how it will be....
BUT at the end of the day...as long as people can hide their tattoos they will be fine....
i hide my tattoos and no one saw them or anything and i was good to go....me and a co worker once during our layover went and had some more tattoos heheeh so yeah there are tons of crew in etihad and emirates that have tattoos....
the question here is if ur tattoos is visible while wearing those t-shirts....even having makeup on to cover them...if they would be visible....
so its up to you to see if this will work out for u or not...as u know where ur tattoos are and how big they are ect...and u seen the t-shirts now....
but im sorry u wont be able to apply for qatar though....as they are super strict with tattoos...i even heard people saying they ask u to take off ur clothes so they can examine ur body ect...for tattoos
but etihad emirates dont do this thank god... :-)
also think about Flydubai :-) they can also be a option for u if ur interested in that :-)
i hope this has helped u a bit :-)
good luck dear and i wish all the best for u

Hi cabindreamer,
ReplyDeletei'm a male, waiting for EK recruitment event, i got 2 visible tattoos on both forearms. In man uniform i think they wouldn't be visible but as i can read from recent posts, EK recruiters would sent you home if you declare tattoos at all but why???
when you apply online in requirements list there is just: no visible tattoo on UNIFORM and not "no tattos at all".
my tattoos are medium size and they are hardly can be covered, but i repeat in man uniform they wouldnt be noticed.
Is there more tollerance for Men ???? There are so few infos on web about men cabin crew.
Thanks a lot
Hi dear
Deleteregarding tattoos in emirates..
1st check this blog post made by a male ex cc in ek...about tattoos...informative to read....although its from year 2008...still worth reading....
http://sodwee.com/blog/2008/06/tattoos-emirates-cabin-crew/
than i read this from cabincrew.com forum....a person that commented this about tattoos in ek: she made this comment this year 2014...
----------------
Hi I am not over there with EK yet but I have my joining date and therefore my candidate portal which has all information about image and uniform standards and under the male section of tattoos it clearly states 'Tattoos or any type of marking whilst visible in uniform are not permitted. This includes on the arms, hands, neck and face.'
-----------------------------
than read this as well:
http://www.cabincrew.com/forums/long-sleeves-tattoos/43412/1
------
Yeah i agree with u dear that there arnt much info about male cc in ek.....
anyhow if u know ur tattoos would not be visible while wearing the male uniform....than i suppose u can declare ur tattoos...and chose ´´no visible tattoos on uniform´´ in the online application form....
but i know we have this fear/doubt when it comes to tattoos and ek....because they are so strict when it comes to tattoos....
anyhow i wish u the best dear...good luck with ur upcoming recruitment event
take care
xxxxxxxxxx
thanks so much :)
DeleteUnluckily my tattoos are both vertical and they are very closed to wristle (not in wristle), and i think it will be very hard assessors will admit them :(
I will try anyway....
ur welcome dear and we should ALWAYS try...our chances....see how it goes....good luck and may ur 2014 end with success and happiness and may ur 2015 begin with success and happiness...take care xxx
DeleteHello and happy new year :),
ReplyDeletehope your having an amazing start to your year.
Firstly, thank you so much for your help in answering all the questions raised so far as well as giving us incite as to what to expect through the application process. The information is extremely helpful as well as useful.
I have a question... I know you have already answered quite a few questions already on tattoos and it has become sort of a cliche lol. Although its great i'm not the only one in this boat. Well the question is.. I have two tattoos and would you believe, they happen to be two wrist tattoos (which is depressing considering I'm interested in applying to Etihad as well as Emirates). One is about 1 centimetre long and the other... well is about 2.1 inches long :o. I don't intend on declaring either of them as I know and you've confirmed they'd immediately send me packing and I really want and dream of being a FA for one of these companies. I intend and know I can cover them up for the AD and once I receive the golden call (God willing) hopefully begin the tattoo removal process which I also intend to cover up with make up in not complete or done when going through to the Medical.
Do you think this is a good idea as i really want this or do you think it is way too risky?
Also I'm 22 and have had no work experience... dropped out of uni (in December 2014) as I decided this is what I wanted to pursue. Do you think this is a problem? Although they do say 21 and over for cc application.
Thanks in advance for your response :)

hello dear nekay
Deletehope ur doing well
and thank u dear for ur kind words....
100% ur making the right decision by not declaring ur 2 wrist tattoos..cause thats a HUGE NO NO in the aviation world...specially with ek/ey.....i know a girl that had a small wrist tattoo and asked about this during her assessment and they told her to go home remove it and than re-apply again...and i dont know if u read my comments...somewhere that i had a batchmate in etihad and during our medical exam they somewhat found out about her wrist tattoo and fired her asap....
ur plan to cover it up with makeup during the initial assessment/interview ect....until u get the final golden call/doj than start the removal process is an awesome idea...than of course hide it with some extra makeup until its vanished completely.....some candidates that wrote to me about this..and told me their plans did indeed succeed...by doing exactly what u told me u want to do dear nekay...
u say ur 22 years old...that indeed is a GOLDEN AGE when it comes to these airlines....its like being in the best years of ur life being 22...because thats the age these airlines lately is looking for....so thats a super positive thing...
u mentioned u dropped out of uni....if possible dont mention this in ur resume or anything...just show them ur completed high school certificate/diploma...thats all they want....people dont need to have a degree from uni to get this job...only high school diploma is enough....because if u do mention u dropped out...thats not a positive thing in there minds...so if possible keep this detail out from ur resume....and dont mention this.....
u mention u dont have any working experience...i will share with u some info that i know worked with many i been in touch with that didnt had any working experience....what many people do is they might know friends in some customer service jobs...ex hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, fast food places ect....and these friends that worked there....helped candidates be there references....faking ´´ possibilities´´ for them...if u understand what i mean...ex they wrote that this or that person worked there for them for about 6 months or so....ect.....this can only work if u have good friends that can help u out....having connections can go a long way......i know it works too cause people have emailed me about this and they succeeded indeed.....so this is 1 way of creating 1-2 jobs that u can put in ur resume.......just a piece of info i thought i would share with u....
Deletealso in ur resume, if u dont write anything, after ur high school....they will ask u about it...ex what did u do after high school...and of course u dont want to mention that u dropped out of uni...so perhaps add some classes u did....or these ´´fake´´ jobs....cause these airlines will never double check these jobs...only the references u give out...
and the pic i saw with u covering up the tattoo..WOWWWW im impressed....its like the tattoo was never inked in the first place....thats awesome.....
anyhow dear nekay...may 2015 be one of the best years of ur life and may success happiness and positive events play out in ur life...wishing u the best with this cc dream of urs...may u soon fulfill it
good luck and take good care of urself dear

ReplyDeletedear check my reply above :-)
DeleteThank you so much for your quick and helpful response.
DeleteThe reason i dropped out is because I wanted to differ my degree until I had opportunity to apply for a cc position as it would be easier now as opposed to later. As i was afraid the chances would be limited as i grow older... i'm also using this time to build my portfolio before eventually returning to complete my course.
As for the Jobs what happens if i'm not able to find someone that can fake my reference :o does that mean i'm screwed?
hello dear
Deleteur welcome...whatever questions u have let me know...if i can help..im more than happy to share some info....
regarding if these companies would reject u if u had no working experience.....i doubt it...because if u look at the qualifications they seek for those that apply with the job ad...they dont mention that u have to have xxx amount of working experience or xxx amount of this or that....the only stuff they want candidates to have are the requirements they write in there website...which isnt much.... :-)
all candidates have to have is a completed high school, no visible tattoos, able to swim, being able to work with people and handle people...english skills ect....
yes ur right about the chances being limited as u age...specially when it comes to etihad/qatar and emirates...
if u wont be able to find anyone that could help u out to ´´fake´´ references or jobs...what i would do if i were u..to cover that gap...in ur resume would to add some ´´fake´´ courses/classes....
although i know 2 good online study sites that some of the classes are for free...so u could take one of those and put it in ur resume...
https://www.udemy.com/
and
http://alison.com/
...so check those sites.....
its just during the interview if u have any gaps in ur resume they will question u about it...thats why its good to cover those gaps...if they ask u...u would have a valid answer to it....
hope this helps dear.....
take care
xxxxxxxxx
can they reject me for not having any work experience? :(
ReplyDeletethanks again xxxx
Deletecheck above dear :-)
Deletehi as i have a borderline tattoo i was wondering what exactly has to be worn during emirates uniform fitting and medicals. i can cover my tattoo with a specific bra i have but is there any specifications when it comes to the underwear a girl must wear for uniform fitting and medicals. any advise would be great.
ReplyDeleteHi dear
DeleteHope ur well
from what i know is during training u guys will be wearing black pants and this red tshirt
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nsQgseQdQj0/UfLkW-gZHRI/AAAAAAAAAH0/_Odj0DJFMhU/s1600/994194_513533928719768_1961809734_n.jpg
u can see the pic above...im sure u seen these too....
u can wear a black cardigan over it too
during the medical exam, these black pants and the red-tshirt will be worn as well
until the uniform comes...u guys will be wearing the uniform after few weeks when the uniform is finished...
its up to u what u wear under that red-tshirt...u can wear whatever u like under it...the same goes under the uniform...
but as far as i know, no there isnt a specific underwear/bra females has to wear...the candidates chose it themselves....
have a lovely day dear

Hi!
ReplyDeleteThis blog has been extremely helpful and I really appreciate you taking the time to read and answer ever question. I know you have gone over many locations of tattoos and I have done lots of homework on the do's and don'ts for Emirates cabin crew. I was immediately accepted to invitation only assesment day on January 31, 2015 and am extremely concerened about a tattoo. I have a dime sized tattoo on the webbed skin between the thumb and pointer finger on my right hand and was wondering what you thought about me getting away with covering it with Dermablend makeup. This is my only visible tattoo and I'm losing faith reading these other blogs. Is it worth even going to the final interview? Thank you in advance!
hi dear
Deletehope ur well
thank u for ur kind words dear
if i were u dear, i would 100% attend this emirates ad....100%
and all while u would cover this tattoo with makeup...
if u can cover this tattoo only with makeup and it would look natural and all covered up...if i were u i would totally go all the way and not declare this of course....and wouldnt even bother having it laser removed...
but if u feel u wont be able to cover it that much...only for the ek recruitment process...than cover it with makeup only for the hiring process and once u get the 100% final approval u got the job...start the laser removal treatment...
there are tons of crew with tattoos in ek...both hiding and declared...
its all about tricks to hide tattoos if possible.....
i would 100% take this opportunity !!!
dont let this tattoo stopping u from getting what u want!!!
its not like the company does a body search or check every inch of ur body.....those that gets fired or sent home because of tattoos...are those that the trainers or medical folks found out about their tattoos....by either seeing it or whatever
as long as no one knows...or u can hide it...u can get away with it....
of course it depends on the size of the tattoo too or where it is ect...but still
i know this brand dermacolor tattoo cover thingy seems to work like magic
anyhow dear good luck
and hope it works out for u
take care

Thank you so very much! I really appreciate all of your advice. This has put my mind at ease. Good luck in all of your ventures and God bless you.
DeleteHello Cabincrewdreamer!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for those amazing and precious informations.
Actually Qatar Airways is recruiting and I have a cutting scar on my forearm. The scar is about 2cm. I have tried dermablend, it doesn't totally hide it.
I was planning to wear long sleeves, but now I am reading through out the web, I don't know if I will go.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you xx
Hi dear
Deletehope you are well
What i would do if i were you I WOULD 100% GOOOO
of course you should go, dont let your doubts about this scar stop u from going....
if its not a big scar u dont need to declare this and just go and hopefully no one notice....
if anyone ask, just say i thought this wasnt a big scar to declare...
because what i think these airlines mean about declaring scars is surgery scars...like big noticeable scars... that might be visible and not look good in a shot sleeve shirt when u work on board....
they dont mean small cutting scars...i have tons of scars from everything...and i never declared any of that as its very small...
its ur choice if u like to declare this or not.... :-)
anyhow u should totally go though.....
wishing u the best good luck

Hi there! I have two tattoos, one of my ankle and one on my back. I will cover the one of my ankle and won't declare it but should I declare the one on my back? There will be open days this weekend in my country (Qatar Airways)
ReplyDeleteThank you and amazing blog :)
Hiii dear
DeleteAbout the back tattoo of urs, i would not declare this if i were u, its not visible while wearing the uniform....
and hopefully u can hide ur ankle tattoo well....
good luck dear on ur open day this weekend with qatar
hope u hear good news

Hi dear my tattoo is actually on my inner bicep. the red t shirt would cover it I think but I don't think the short sleeve shirt ladies uniform will cover it. is it necessary to take off the jacket during flight?and during swimming lessons is it possible to wear full sleeve Also I currently have a job in Dubai so if I don't declare my tattoo but they some how see it will I have to go back to my country?
ReplyDeletehi dear
Deletehope ur well
here is another pic of that short sleeve shirt the crew wear onboard
http://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/e15/10990573_567546443347715_524773137_n.jpg
yes all the crew do take off their jackets once its time for service....then they will only wear these:::
http://www.ausbt.com.au/photos/view/maxsize:640,480/50ad429a2b744fa69b824183767f2254-galley-in-use.png
u can watch this ditching test the crew does during training..and u can see here what they wore::::
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi2Jz0Al0fE
mostly they tell u to wear either long sleeve shirt, or tshirt and yoga pants or pants of some sorts....
there are tons of people having tattoos working for ek, most people try to hide it as well as they can.....if they see it, yeah unfortunately people do get fired....and they will take away your visa and u have 1 month before u can fly home....
but once again most people try to hide their tattoos....
anyhow good luck dear, and i wish u a lovely friday
take care hugsssss kissessss
Hello dear,
ReplyDeleteI have a question, although you probably already responded to this more than 100 times, but I really need your opinion about my own case.:) Btw, I passed all for Emirates...and I have a tattoo on the back of my neck. I don't have time to remove it with laser, so I decided to try surgery. I'm interested in what the situation is with scars in Emirates? Do you know somebody that works there and have visible scar? I will put some corrective makeup on it, I somehow hope that it is easier hide scar than a tattoo ink.:/ What do you think? I also have a bob haircut, so maybe that will hide also a little bit of a scar...I'm so stressed out right now. Thanks in advance for your response. :*
hello dear i hope ur doing well
Deleteregarding tattoos and surgery...actually a friend of mine had a wrist tattoo and she had a surgery done on her wrist to remove it...she has a tiny scar she told me,,but not something no one noticed...she is now working with ek and has done it for few years....
and yes tons of crew have scars ect...they even have tattoos working with ek...all while they hide it..
also your tattoo is on the back of your neck, so its not that visible...so i would not be so worried if i were you...and as you mentioned, with some makeup it will be completely gone....
+ u have the bob haircut...so ur all set to go...+ ur planning to do the surgery...
i would not be worried if i were u dear...as u are planning to do all these necessary things to remove and hide this tattoo...i would advice anyone doing the exact same things u mentioned you will do :-)
but i understand we do have worries as we are humans ect.....
yes these airlines are strict when it comes to tattoos and scars...but with visible tattoos....also with deep surgery scars ect...tiny scars here and there, thats ok...as we all have them....
wishing u the best dear
good luck
xxxxxx
Thank you sooo much for your words of support and for the quick answer.:) I will remove the tattoo, hide the scar, and hope that everything goes well.:) Thank you again!: xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi i found your blog very interesting and helpful so thank you on behalf i think of everyone ^^ . My story is quite different from everyone else's i have read on this page. I am going to be a ground operations Supervisor for ey and i know for ground staff they are way less strict when it comes to tattoos. Anyways i have my half sleeve tattoed and it wouldn't be visible through the uniform as womens shirt and jacket are both longer than when the tattoo ends. Plus i have a stupid tiny thing i can definitely cover with make up and staff but still i would have no problems with the training i am only worried about medicals . Any suggestions? Do you know anything about ground staff? Thank you for your help
ReplyDeletehello dear....
Deleteand thank u so much for ur kind words dear...appreciate it... :-)
first congratulations dear for getting the job as ground operations supervisor for ey...thats great and i hope u will enjoy the job...and the new journey ur about to start soon...
yeah i would also assume like u mentioned too, that EY would be a bit less strict about tattoos for ground staff....
i dont know if they asked you during your interview if you guys have visible tattoos/scars or not....
and if this question is written in your pre-employment medical papers....
as for us crew, this question was asked 4 times...
once during the assessment, 2nd during interview, 3rd on the pre-employment medical papers and 4th during the medical exams in abu dhabi.....
i dont have much knowledge about tattoos/scars regarding other positions than cabin crew....
but i assume as u also mentioned that u guys on ground your uniform is longer...the shirt and the jacket....so its covered...while working...
as for the medical exams....thats a bit tricky..but i dont think they will fire you guys for tattoos that is not visible while wearing the uniform and working...that would not make sense to me.....
sorry dear that i dont have much knowledge or info regarding ground staff and tattoos
but i hope u will have a smooth medical exam and everything else and this tattoo of urs wont cause u any issues.....
congratulations again for this job...
wishing u the best dear

Hi !
ReplyDeleteI found your blog very interesting and helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience to us about being cabin crew. I will attend Emirates Assessment Day this week. I have tattoo on my hip that It's not visible while wearing the uniform. Do you think that I should declare about it on my assessment day?
Thank you in advance for your responses.
Dear i got your email, i have replied back to you :-)
Deletexoxo
hey awseome lady . thanks a ton for taking the time to reply to everyone i imagine that must be hard . i got few questions and i asked all of my friends in etihad and they all said whatever kik... i have a forearm tattoo and going to an asssessment very soon after i recieved the invitation booked the first assessment .my plan is " i will not declare any tattoo i have i will honestly lie haha / however wondering how would they know . i will cover it all with make up but still worried aboiut medical test and if i pass i heard that i will be a t-shirt for training and i don wana put make up everyday . what do you advise and what would you recomend .
ReplyDeletehello dear...
Deleteif u can hide it well...and it will look natural after all the makeup and stuff...than ur good to go...we can always try...and take that risk,.
i had a tattoo when i joined etihad which i did not declare that was borderline in a no no area....but no one saw it...i didnt declare it...i was good to go...
its not like etihad will observe u for tattoos, or look for tattoos...or examine ur body for tattoos :-).....those that get fired and get sent home...are when someone saw the tattoo randomly....
but good that ur not planning to declare it though...
during medical exam , yes there will be a t.shirt u guys have to wear...than on board as u know the shirt will look like this
http://iconosquare.com/p/1019636127874259660_304901637
but if i were u, i would take the risk and do this...and go to abu dhabi and see how it goes...but knowing if they find out during the training they might send u back....
cause i feel once u start working..no one really cares....yes we need to cover our tattoos while working...but its not that environment as it is during the training...
u have no other choice that cover ur tattoo with makeup...everyday....
but u do what u feel is right for u dear
good luck on ur etihad ad...wishing u the best dear
i feel sometimes we need to just jump and take that risk and see how it goes.....in life risks is a part of it :-)
have a lovely day

Hi, I have a small tatto on my inner upper arm. About the size of my baby finger. I also got accepted the job as cabin crew with emirates. I heard in the emirates medical exam, they doctor/nurse examines your skin to mark down if you have any scars or markings? I can cover it up with tattoo make up but I'm nervous they will notice it is camouflage make-up In the medical exam when I arrive, if they examine you thoroughly. Please let me know what happens in the medical. Thank you so much in advance :)
ReplyDeletehi dear....
Deletethe size of your tattoo does seem to be very tiny...so if i were u, i would cover it with makeup and not mention this to anyone....
i actually never heard that emirates do examine your body for scars or tattoos...the only company i heard they do so is qatar...not emirates...
during the medical exams in dubai they will probably do tests like: blood tests, vision test, hearing test, getting vaccines, weight check, chest x ray, normal check up and urine test ect.....
good luck dear and i wish u the best
hugssss
Thank you so much! Thank god, I'm a bit less panicky now as I was going to try get it removed. Can't wait to read more of your blog, great reading :)
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for all those previous reply. You were very helpful and amazing with all those advices. I hope you can enlighten me with my problems.
1. I have 2 tattoos on my back (both below the shoulder blades), its not visible if i wear clothes that are dark colors but when I wear white specially if the shirt is kinda thin, it kinda bleeds out and has shadow that can be seen since the ink is black. should i declare this since its a go area?
if i dont, it might be seen when i wear white tshirt. what will be the consequence from hereon? im torn between the two.
its in an area that is a go, but if i declare it, they might take it against me and not accept me. if i dont declare it, someone might see (through the shirt) and i might get fired even though its in a go area since i lied.
please please help me on this. thank you very much. and more power to your blog. :)
Hi dear ARA
Deletein regards to the 2 tattoos u have on ur back...i would not declare them....cause they arnt visible while wearing the uniform...and u can always wear a thin white t-shirt under ur uniform when u start to work,,,i mean 1 white top under ur working uniform..,no one will really see ur tattoos on ur back....not even the doctors during ur medical exams...cause no one really asked us to take off our shirt...
and if ur a girl u can always wear a bra/shirt thingy...under ur uniform too...in case u dont wish to have a tshirt under...
this goes for etihad and emirates...with qatar i dont know.....
but this is what i would do...u do what feels right for u dear :-)
good luck dear...

Hi. I have a scar on my right arm, under the elbow. It's about 2.7 inches, and i know that Etihad uniform has gloves, but if i don't wear them, the scar is visible. I know the company didnt say anything about scars, but i am really worried. Should i declare it at the interview ? Because i suppose that sooner or later, somebody will notice it.
ReplyDeleteHi dear...
DeleteIt depends on how deep and visible ur scar is...what these companies mean that they allow scars is ex surgery scars...very deep surgery scars..thats not allowed as it would be visible.
If you can cover ur scar with makeup and it wouldnt be so visible....or if u feel ur scar isnt so visible anyway and its tiny..than i would not declare this....
etihad is more strict with tattoos...
anyhow if i were u, i would not declare this...
myself i have a scar on my eye brow...and even if i could hide it with makeup...there were times i would forget during my flights and no one said anything....and my eye brow scar is visible...
so i dont think u should worry about this and 2.7 inches is very tiny too...not that large or big....
also scars is ok...its not like tattoos...even if someone saw it..they wouldnt think much about it...cause we all are humans and we get scars all the time...ex scars from being kids...scars from falling down...or whatever....everyone have scars of some sort...so i wouldnt worry too much about this....
so once again if i were u, i would not declare this :-)
but u do what u feel is right for u :-)
wishing u the best dear....
have a lovely day

My scar is there because i broke my arm and I needed surgery. It's not deep at all, it's just a little bit light colored than the rest of my skin. That was 10 years ago but it's still visible. The question is: It's possible for them to send me home if i don't declare it ?
DeleteHi again...
Deletei actually have never heard of anyone being sent home because of a scar....
i have heard other reasons as medical issues or tattoos or whatever....but never a scar.....
Also these companies pay a lot of money to take a candidate all the way to Dubai and they pay for so much, so they wont fire someone easily...the reason of them firing someone has to be something big....
i even know a guy who works for ek that removed his wrist tattoo with surgery and he has this deep scar from it....yet no one thought anything about it...or fired him or anything....
just thought i would share this with u :-)
have a lovely day dear
xoxoxo
hello I have been reading all these posts but I'm still very worried about my tattoos. I am going to apply for emirates however I have 4 tattoos, 1 on my wrist that is about 1cm by 1cm, 2 on my foot which can be covered by shoes and makeup and 1 on my back that is only words but quite big. if I were to be successful should I not delclare any of my tattoos? I can easily cover all with good quality makeup however I am extremely worried about the training and medical and someone finding out.
ReplyDeletehello dear
DeleteHope ur well :-)
I would not worry much about any of ur tattoos except the wrist tattoo that u have...the rest can be hidden with various things....
there is no need to declare the back tattoo as it is not visible while wearing the uniform...the tattoos on ur feet as u mentioned u can be covered by shoes and makeup and i would not declare this either.....
100% u should never ever declare the wrist tattoo...as a batch mate of mine declared her wrist tattoo and got fired for this...
if u can find a good makeup u can easily hide this wrist tattoo....and not declare this
in emirates its not like they examine the candidates bodies for tattoos....they will ONLY react if they see anything that would be visible...out of the blue....its not like the go around and check peoples skin ect....
but if u know u can hide this wrist tattoo with makeup so well...that if someone would check ex ur nails...they wouldnt even notice this wrist tattoo than ur good to go
cause during the training the grooming manager during one of ur grooming lessons they will go and check ex nails or watches....because having a watch is very important and having nice nails too....
than if no one sees...there is no problem.....
soo many ek crew have tattoos...as long as no one knows...and its not visible.....but its not like anyone is checking either
it will only be a problem is it shows somehow.....and if candidates with tattoos are smart enough to hide them...there will be no problem......
i dont know if ur a male or female...but the females wear stockings too..so that hides ex ur tattoos on ur feet too......if ur a female :-)
but 100% i would try this and attend a ek od/ad and see how far i would go...than of course 100% u should not declare any of ur tattoos....
declaring ur tattoos would mean being eliminated from the od/ad getting hired ect...
sometimes in life we have to take risks...thats all :-)
and without risks we would not win or find new places right :-)
wishing u the best dear
have a lovely day

ReplyDeleteHello Dear,
I have been reading your blogs for quite a long time and I would be glad if you can answer some of my query.... I belong from a poor family were i never got support for studies or anything I have left my schooling on 10th Standard and started working to support my family financially even though I'm the youngest child at home but its always me who have to take decision to save everyone. I joined correspondent course to complete 10+2 and now pursuing B.Com 2nd year . I'm 26 yr old in between I also have to did job as receptionist and also completed training in aviation and hospitality from a private institute. I was selected for 5* Hotel chain in F&B and worked for a consecutive year. I always wanted to be a cabin crew so I did everything possible i could, saved every penny to pay aviation training fees. But failed to get in due to scar in my left wrist which is hardly visible, i got married two years back my husband is a chef and even he got surprised as for last a year even he didn't noticed the scar nor my any ex employers.
I'm really very upset i tried everything available in market but nothing is helping, i have my family responsibility my parents are dependent on me now even i'm not doing any job as i'm only applying for Cabin Crew position . I also have very soft corner for deprived animals, I had 13 cats all are rescued from different places and 3 dogs presently I have only seven cats, I had to leave others as its becoming hard for me to feed them and bear there medicine expanse, my financial condition is going down so i think i should forget about my dream job and join some other firm......
Last 11 years what ever i did no matter whom ever i helped its all useless now i don't believe that hardworking, loyal, nice people ever gets happiness in life.....I hate the one created me....and i hate life.

DeleteHope ur well dear
wow god bless u dear for everything u been through and all the struggles u have had in life...u are indeed sooo strong...well done...for being sooo strong!!!!
Sweety always think positive....its very important to think positive...other wise we would go in this dark state of mode and thats not good...
said this....wow im impressed by ur life story....ur an ANGEL...who help others and put others 1st.....
u have done so much....but know life could be far worst....cherish ur life dear...even if its not as good as u wished it was....it could always be worst....
I had this batchmate in etihad, who came from thailand and she told me she came from a very poor family. She told me she tried so many times with various airlines and didnt get successful...until she became 29 years old and she tried with etihad and she got the job....now she is helping her family all while working in etihad......
You didnt mention what airline u applied for, that rejected u for that scar....
Anyhow u are still young, i was 27 years old when i joined etihad....in etihad they are more welcoming with various ages than emirates....qatar is ok too.....
anyhow i advice u to not declare your scar....if this scar is not visible while wearing a uniform....ex the skirt u will be wearing...its above the knees...so it wont be visible....if i would be u, i would not declare the scar...if its not that visible...also makeup and stockings will hide it too once u start working....
God bless u for doing so much for others, giving so much from urself....BELIEVE there is a success coming ur way even if its very difficult to grasp it now.....
Some people are lucky to get things easier in life while the rest of us has to work hard for it....and it takes time too......
Im deeply sorry dear, for all the pain and hardship u have gone through.....but keep doing good...cause i assume ur a nice person who likes to help...and do not give up...
with these cc jobs....i feel its mostly about luck....who gets the job and who doesnt....its like a lottery....we keep playing until we get it.....
U owe urself to not give up...and keep thinking positive dear.....i understand there is a lot of darkness, hardship and obstacles along the way....but know the VICTORY is worth it all!!! even if it would take u years to score it....
believe in ur ability dear...and i hope and wish someone would notice u and give u that ticket to success cause u are totally worth it....
sending u love light happiness ur way dear.....thank u for sharing ur story with me....
god bless u

Hello, very good morning thank you very much for your time and support, its the first time i shared my life with someone so clearly, in real world actually except my hubby nobody even knows my painfull side, and sometimes even he don't understand as he is a blessed soul with a good family and career. I have tried in domestic airlines and have forwarded my cv to Emirates and etihad but till now i guess they have not seen it, you know last week there was an interview i was prepared for it wen i reached the venue i found girls wearing normal casual dresses with untide hair and one girl had bad acne marks in face, a gentlemen came out of the interview room called some people along with those 2 girls and they were selected for final round, so i was wondering that professionality and seriousness doesn't matter, is it that to get this job i have to be known to someone personally or have to have references to achive something. Don't you think its not fair.... I really don't say that just give me the job what i want is atleast know me see if i'm capable of what is required than decide, just a scar doesn't matter, but they don't even see your CV which is worst, and in another airline i was selected after the GD and they told they would call me in 48hrs for finals but they didn't i waited for a week and then cqlled them to ask about it they said that I'm rejected but no reason was mentioned. Anyway I'm not gona give up coz that's not my nature i'm gona do anything to get this scar cleared for that i'm leaving today for chennai to meet an dermatologist lets hope he can help me with it.... i can only pray for strength from Jesus
ReplyDeleteLovely Devika....
DeleteOmg i have tears in my eyes reading your words, you are indeed an ANGEL....god bless you and and may success and happiness always be around u dear.....
Sweety, i have few ebooks/pdf related to cc, worth reading....if u wish to have these send me your email address so i can send them for u OR...use the contact me form to your right and send me your email address via that...i would love to share this with u...as it can help u ....and give u some insight....in the cc department.....
No one can really understand your journey or pain, if they havnt been in your shoes....so sometimes you might feel your all alone in this boat.... :-( but know u arnt as there are soo many in ur shoes too...
When it comes to these emirates/etihad/qatar jobs...the secret to be successful with these jobs...thats the million dollar question we all ask ourselves...i will tell u my honest opinion on this as i have done 1000 ek od/ad/fi...and also qatar and finally etihad....is that of course having a good resume....be groomed and have the right clothes ect....and have a good communication skill...be confident...smile a lot....
ect counts.........but than i feel its ALL ABOUT LUCK.....i have seen the worst candidates be successful and scored these jobs...and i have seen the perfect candidates loose....i feel sometimes being there in the right place and time...and have a bit of luck...does it all....
even saying the right things....do the right things...be as perfect as it possible can be....it still wont be enough.....
sometimes these recruiters when they go to these cities and recruit...they have a quota....sometimes they have to hire a certain language speaker....ect or a certain age group...or nationality....ect ect...than its out of our control......
we all have our opinions on this.....and this is mine.....we just have to try and than its not in our control anymore.....
u dont need to register for open days for emirates....if u see they have a open day near u JUST ATTEND....than if people make it to the FI they need to register ect....
It is indeed unfair...how these middle eastern companies recruit....it doesnt make sense....there is no logic...but our job is just to not give up...and keep continue....until we score it....
i dont know if u read my story but i tried this for 3 years....3 years filled with rejections..i tried with so many airlines...until one day i got successful.....people told me to give up....and it isnt worth it....ect.......but if we have a fire inside our hearts WE JUST CANT GIVE UP....
Good luck dear with the dermatologist....
I can see the fire in you dear....and dont let anything stop u....keep knocking on those doors...until someone opens ok!!!!! cause u are sooo worth it!!!
thank u once again for sharing ur story dear....it warmed my heart, knowing there is a girl like this who has this determination...and this fire...and ur sooo strong too!!!! u should be so proud of urself dear......so keep knocking ok :-)
god bless u dear
have a lovely evening

ReplyDelete...... pls help
Dear hope ur well....
Deletethe scar u have on ur back...its not visible while wearing the uniform..and i cant think of any doctors that would ask u to remove ur shirt or anything like this...and its small as u said....
what i would do if i were u, is not to declare it...
but u do what u feel is right for u
good luck on ur ek od :-)

Hi Cabin Crew Dreamer, you are such a kind soul for answering everyone's questions with so much patience and sincerity. Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteI will like to ask, is the new etihad uniform for female cabin crews allowed to wear pantyhose/stockings? as i have a 2 cm scar on my leg below my knees, but it could easily be covered with make up and will not be visible in pantyhose as i have observed. That is my only concern so far.. i have submitted my application recently to Etihad and i am anxiously waiting for an invitation, hopefully. Wishing you a lovely day wherever you are, xoxo
hi dear
Deletehope ur well :-)
thank u dear for ur kindness....
yes 100% everyone have to wear stockings when they wear the skirt ect...its actually a MUST...for the cc in etihad
and 100% u can easily cover this scar with makeup and stockings....so i would not delcare this if i were u....
i hope u get an invite soon...wishing u the best on ur ey ad...
good luck
take care dear

Hi cabincrewdreamer, I have 3 tattoos and one of them is on a No area. It is 3 cm above the right elbow, it is little and stylised. Do you think I can hide it? Should I declare any of them? Thank you a lot and have a nice day
ReplyDeletehi dear...
Delete100% u can not declare this tattoo of urs, the one on the no area...because its in a no area and they wont accept this....they will reject ur file....the rest of ur tattoos....its up to u if u wish to declare them or not....anyhow for this tattoo that would be visible while wearing the uniform...and that is if u wish to continue this...u can always hide this with makeup....if u think it wont show even with makeup on.....i think why not....
in life we always have to take risks... :-) and it is with risks we WIN :-)

Hi there :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a tattoo going down my spine starting at the bottom of my neck. It's thin small writing and cannot be seen from a polo shirt but when I look down the top word peaks of the top of a shirt? I have an assessment day coming up and wondering if I should declare this tattoo. It's that thin it cannot be seen from underneath a shirt, even without a vest on underneath but I really want the job and have prepared so hard I don't want this to be a factor in me not. Ring successful. I can send you a picture if you like to your email?
Thanks in advance :)
Adara xxx
Hi dear adara
DeleteHope u are well
regarding ur back tattoo...
look at this ordinary tshirt:
http://i62.tinypic.com/t6bka1.jpg
if u would wear a tshirt like this and if ur tattoo would be visible in ur neck area than they will not approve it....
they are very quick in not accepting tattoos...that are visible...even if a tiny bit would be visible and the rest wouldnt....
what i would do if i were u, would be not to declare this and once u get this job....u can always put makeup on the part that would be visible.....if that would be visible...
there is no way someone would see ur back tattoo....because its hidden under ur shirt...and no one really ask for u to remove ur shirt....even during medical exams...u have a shirt on....
i heard dermacolor is a good brand for hiding tattoos ect...
anyhow i wish u the best on ur ad dear adara....good luck
hugssss
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI am planning on trying my best with Emirates, but I am now concern about my ankle tattoo. I have a tattoo on my ankle (to cover a scar that I had before). With stocking, or pants, shoes and makeup, I don't think it will be a problem. But I still worry about it. So I Would like to ask if I should declare about it when they ask or just keep it to my self?
Thank you very much. I'm so happy that I found your page, you are such an inspiration!!
Chear,
xxo
Hi dear...
Deletethere was this girl who attended a open day with me once and she had a ankle tattoo...she did declare this to the recruiter on our open day.....and the recruiter thanked her for coming and told her they dont approve of her ankle tattoo...and her tattoo was very tiny...anyhow she was sent home and could not participate with the rest of us during the ad ect...i felt so bad for her,,,,cause she could easily not declare it and covered it with makeup..but she didnt know....
and ankle tattoos are on a no no area too.....
so what i advice you is 100% do not declare this...as this will mean a rejection for u..
u can easily hide this with stockings, makeup, shoes ect....
this is what i would do if i were u....
there are tons of cabin crews in ek that hide their tattoos...if they can hide they of course they do it....
have a lovely day and i wish u all the best on ur emirates dreams...

Hi ive been having a good read through all the comments as im looking to apply for Etihad but being put off by my tattoo situation! I have a few tattoos one being across my foot and up my ankle but ive already booked in for laser removal for this one as believe this may be a problem for most airlines regardless so this should be ok but i have one on my wrist just a symbol which could easily be covered by make up but just concerned about the medical exam and tests in the swimming pool like how much do they check? Are they likely to touch my wrist and rub the make up off? Do they go out of there way to look for tattoo cover ups and is this derma colour you speak of waterproof? Lol sorry just want to be clear Also as for tattoos that are in the 'ok go' area that wont be visible whilst in unform, if somehow during the medicals/ swimming pool tests etc they happen to see one of my tattoos thats in an ok area for example the one down my spine through a wet white tshirt - because this is in an ok area would they just accept this and not say anything to me or do they not really want tattoos at all and fire me for tattoos that wouldnt be visible under uniform? Hope this makes sense lol thank you in advance! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteHello dear Natasha Holly :-)
DeleteHope ur well
regarding ur tattoos....first i have to say that i have tattoos myself and i didnt declare any of them....because it was not visible while wearing the uniform...1 was borderline visible but still i didnt declare it.
And it was fine, and it didnt cause any issues for me...
well done for taking the step to do the laser removal with ur ankle tattoo. i dont know if u read my above comment about this girl who also had a ankle tattoo and this was a big no no. with ur wrist tattoo u can easily cover this with makeup and a watch. if ur wrist tattoo is tiny and u can cover it with makeup, than u can do this. during the medical exam, 1 of the tests they will do is the xray and u have to take off any jewelery watches ect...but its only a xray assistant who does the xrays....not the main doctors.... during the ditching test u can wear a long sleeve shirt and yoga pants...so no one will see anyway....the trainers wont be near u in that sense to see details....
there is no way anyone will touch u....or check for tattoos....or examine ur body for tattoos...
they might ask u to show them ur nails...cause during one of the classes a grooming manager will come and we all had to show our nails...and i think this grooming manager also check our watches too, ex if its according to standards...cause we arnt allowed to have whatever watch...everyone have to have a watch that is of standard according to etihad ect....
this derma color,,,i dont know much about this...google this...but a lot of crew told me they used this....i didnt have to use this as my tattoos was covered under the uniform...so i dont know if this dermacolor is waterproof or not.
but during the training there is no one that will examine or check u for tattoos....IF they see tattoos randomly yeah there will be a meeting about this. Depending on how the tattoo is, they will act upon that. But again ex during the ditching, u can easily wear a black long sleeve shirt, and white yoga pants or dark or whatever....we were not allowed to do the ditching exam in swim wear, thank god for that.
So u do what is right for u....and u know i write this a lot....but in life we have to take risks...to WIN...how else would we win right..... :-)
wishing u the best with etihad dear...and good luck
have a lovely day

Hello dear,
ReplyDeleteI am very very upset Since last so man month I have been applying for Indigo Airlines, 1st they rejected my application cox i was under weight and needed to gain 3 kg,second time again due to the scar which is hardly seen third time got through for the pre-final round ans was asked to Visit Gurgaon Indigo Headquarter for the finals, the air tickets was done from company itself and after introduction round was asked to seat for next round but later in evening a lady informed around 30 candidates that we not selected, again applied attended walk-in at Kolkata and again they provided air ticket to visit Gurgaon for Pre- final this time they were suppose to conduct GD round but in more looked like intro round which is done in walk-in already. Waited for the entire day at their office and later in the evening they informed that i'm not in as according to their HR person my communication is not good. So I was wondering if its the communication issue they must have informed the very first time only right. I don't think one needs that much time to judge one's communication skill.
I have applied for jet airways twice first time they simply rejected me for scar in arm which is hardly visible as i already told you, they don't even go through the CV and the scar it cannot even be seen in the uniform.last month again applied and got rejected due to 2 small pimples which occur due to heat and pollution as you might know in India at Kolkata humidity is too high and my hometown is Hills Station where I have spend my last 23 yrs. I reached the interview venue 2 hr prior as its 3 hr journey from my place so I didn't wanted to get late, out there the venue manager he didn't even allowed to enter as the time for interview started at 10.00 AM so had to wait outside. The bad part is a girl who have a multi-colored star tattoo in her left arm which is easily seen around 2 cm size got through which she explained that she got laser done a week ago,the total area was swollen. I'm really getting upset because its all looks like gambling only known person gets it or win it. I think I should quit now as I have already wasted enough time and money for this job application its not worthy ....... And as i'm in India I don't see any way to apply for Etihad ,Qatar etc, more over its quite long that i got chance to go for swimming so not confident about 50 m challenge also........ I quit good bye dear
Hello lovely Devika
Deletehope u are well
i am so sorry dear that u have had
all these rejections going on.
But i think its incredible though
that u passed so many staged for indigo
airlines...not many people pass those stages
and come so far as u did...so be proud of those
achievements.
regarding the scar u mentioned and that jet airways
rejected u for that. if i were u i would not
declare this scar u have dear.
anyhow i understand u are frustrated and lost hope and u feel angry about all those rejections.
But i dont know if u know my story but it took me 3 years and 3 years filled with rejection letters before 1 company could hire me. I went through so much pain and so many tears but i just didnt give up. i pushed through...
this world is not fair 100% not fair....yes this is a game, but we need to play it...IF THIS IS A BURNING PASSION in our hearts.
for me there was no way of quitting and giving up...because i just had to get this job regardless company. i thought if others can do it so can i....
also i knew it was like a lottery game, its like we buy a new ticket each time we play.....and truly this was burning so brightly in my heart...
after 3 years...i got it...3 years is a very long time.... :-(
but i got it at the end...+ 100 gray hairs hehehehe
so dear, if this cabin crew job is a burning fire inside ur heart...if this job is something u truly want to succeed in and score, U SHOULD NOT GIVE UP....
yes its painful..yes there is a lot of effort, money, time in this...which we throw away....but its an investment in our future...
i dont regret anything...i dont regret the 3 years i went through all those rejections and pain :-)
cause it was all worth it at the end.
i know its draining and we just cant do this anymore....but i know u have some fire in u still...if u still can endure it..CONTINUE....continue this battle...i call this a battle....cause its a struggle and a battle....no one really understand this UNTIL they go through this themselves....
dont expect anyone to understand ur journey dear.....cause if they arnt in ur shoes they wont understand...but know i understand !!! and i listen to ur words....
and i wish u could push more...little bit more.... :-)
but if u feel enough is enough and u cant just do it anymore....than say goodbye.... if u feel there is still some batteries left in ur heart and soul....keep going :-)
anyhow my dear.....know u have done so much....u should be proud of urself!!!!
ur a winner...and i hope u succeed!! with all my heart i hope u will succeed!!
wishing u nothing but the best!!!!!
have a lovely night dear
good luck!!
and thank u for sharing ur experience with me...know ur not alone

For this Job even my marriage is at risk as my husband scolds me every time by saying I'm only wasting money and time, and I did mistake my leaving Hotel job.
ReplyDeleteEven he have helped for everything i needed for this job but its all became hopeless......I'm really scared
Dear Devika :-) i am so sorry you are having a difficult time in your life at this time in your life...all roads seems blocked and a lot of people doesnt believe in your dreams ect....but STAY STRONG....when we want something AMAZING and when our hearts fall in love with a passion....than it doesnt matter with the NOISE in the background....IGNORE the noise in the background....the noise will always be there regardless....so STAY STRONG ok...and follow ur heart...there is a purpose behind this drive of yours that is making u follow this path of ur dreams.
DeleteA lot of people didnt support my cc dreams either, and i had a lot of negative folks around me at that time.....but it is our lives and our dreams that matters......keep your head up high and stand proud ok!!!
one day that door will open up for u :-)
good night dear devika

Heay dear, I seriously don't know what to do everything seems hate me.
ReplyDeleteAs I'm born in northeast India my height is small, i can reach only 208cm.
That's the reason i was applying for domestic airline. A new brand came so i was really happy because I have worked with the company brand at 5* Hotel. So i applied and got call for the interview which was just a day after at Delhi so i did everything and left same night so that i can reached delhi stayed at hotel and appeared interview next day. Got through the initial rounds. They wanted immadiate joining and i was very happy coz i got all minimal requirement to become a cabin crew. And i believe i look good. Well after that in the final round they asked me to stand next to a lady from their team and according to her they said i'm short well i told them that they can use a measurement tape coz i'm 157cm the minimum height required. Still they didn't believed me and simply rejected me. I couldn't stop my tears and i cried i requested them that i have worked with the same brand so they can consider me as i have food and beverage service experience. Still they didn't listen to me at all.
Tell me what i should i do now......
sweet Devika...
Delete:-( omg this is crazy....that u made it through all the rounds yet they rejected u because of ur height...and ur height is even approved....but still they didnt believe u...sooo crazyyy....what the helllll
:-( im sorry dear....
but im sure if u do etihad u will reach, as their reach test is 210cm...and one of my batchmates was 157cm when she joined us....
but im sorry dear.....i know exactly how it feels to get rejected like this...all these blocks infront of u....
its a test u keep getting...which i got too during the time i applied for these airlines....
but did i give up? no
and u shouldnt either :-)
but it is so very unprofessional of these folks who didnt believe u were 157cm....if this team didnt believe u, than u shouldnt even work for them!!
as its very unprofessional from them!!!
this doesnt make sense to me....weird....
what a crazy company than....
ignore them...dont even re-apply with them again....
also dear...i dont know if u have thought about Flydubai or not....
if not check this airline out....they are good too
apply online and see how it goes....
i have many friends who worked for them
also dont take these rejections personally dear....i know how difficult these rejections are...it is very easy for us to take them personally....but try not to!!!
good luck dear....and think positive....
sometimes the best things out there is the most difficult to get......
it will all be worth it!!!
good night dear

Hello, i have been ready most of your blog and i must say thank you, you are so nice to give each one of us a answer ......i have also few question for you :) you have been so clear that tatooes can be covered with make up etc.....i have a arm which go through the no area but i have seen in one of the pic you put on:
ReplyDeletehttp://iconosquare.com/p/1019636127874259660_304901637
That the girls wear a 3/4 sleaves shirt so my tattoo will be all covered up right so i wont have any problems ?!
i do have also a big tattoo on my lover back which wont be a problem but would i need to declare it?
Also during the medical when they do the x-ray will they ask you to take the shirt off? can you just wear a t-shirt ? i just wonder if i can get a way around it without declare my tatooes ? also i have been invited to an AD it will be in a moth time so as every body i want this job so much although i am worried as i am 36 years old and i will soon be 37 soon i do look younger i am quite lucky as i am bless with a good genetic but still i am nearly 37 years old ......as u said its just lucke right there is not a good card :) anyhow thank you so much for your time dear
sending hugs and love
Hello dear Cristina
DeleteHope you are well :-)
Regarding that kind of tattoo you mentioned....yes 100% u will be safe while working on board with those shirts the etihad crew is wearing...BUT what i am a bit worried though is during the medicals...cause during one of the medicals we had to wear these white t-shirts...i will show u::::
http://oi64.tinypic.com/wurz4k.jpg
and if any tattoos are shown while wearing this t-shirt and the doctors notice the tattoo they will ask u about it....
so i dont know exactly how big ur tattoo is....
as for the lover back tattoo of urs, this one u dont need to worry about as its not visible while wearing the uniform...and no need to declare this either...as i doubt anyone will see ur lower back.....
during the xray we wore that white.tshirts i showed u...and no we didnt have to take it off....
as for the age, etihad is much more welcoming with 30+ than emirates or qatar is...u have a greater shot at etihad now while being 36...than if u would be 37....at time of application.....
wishing u all the best on ur AD dear soon....good luck
i hope u get positive results...
have a lovely night
xxxxxxx
Hello Dear,
ReplyDeletethank you so much for your reply....well that withe tshirt you show me for the medical will def cover all my tattoo it seems baggy enough to hide it and maybe i could put make up on or could i wear a white t-shirt under that white blouse ? my tattoo is quite big but its about 4 fingers before my elbow. From the pic u just send me it seems that the t-shirt is just 2 fingers above the elbow right? but can you wear undergarment under that t-shirt?
Thank you so much for all your help! are u still fly or you just got another type of job?
sending love and thank you again
Hello again dear Cristina
DeleteThank u for being so sweet appreciate it :-)
Yeah 100% u could hide the tattoo with makeup, under that white tshirt. And you can wear a white tshirt under the white shirts u guys will be wearing during the first weeks of training, but while doing certain parts of the medical exams, u could perhaps wear a tiny white top or something under it....
I dont remember exactly now the measurements with the tshirts and the elbow ect, as this was 4 years ago :-)
While doing certain medical exams such as xrays ect we arnt able to wear anything under that white tshirt, ex they told us we have to take off bras that have wires....but if we perhaps have a sport bra on thats ok :-)
No worries dear whatever questions u have let me know, if i can help i will :-) and no im no longer flying dear :-)
wishing u a lovely night dear...
take care
oxoxoxo
thank you soo much

Hi! I have read most of your answers here and you are just so kind to respond to all of them so quick! I myself also have a question…
ReplyDeleteThere is an open day for Emirates this Saturday and I would like to attend. However, I think it would be a waste of time because I have a number of tattoos and piercings. My ‘visible’ tattoos are on my back, belly and foot. The one on my back is a text that is readable from a distance so not that small. Nevertheless, I think this should not be a problem because your back or belly is never open when wearing the uniform. It’s the one on my foot I am worried about. I have a black rose on top on my foot that is in no way invisible. I could find dermacolor make-up to cover it up, but I still think I should declare this one because it would be visible during the training in the swimming pool (if I would ever get that far). I also have a nose piercing, a stretched earlobe of 8 mm, two piercings in my ear, one in my tongue and four in my belly. I am prepared to take all of them out, and change the stretch for a plain black jewel that resembles an earring, as it takes some time for the hole to heal again once it is taken out.
My question: despite all of this, should I still try and attend the open day, or would it be one big waste of time? I also plan to have another tattoo right under my breasts this year. It is a large design, but invisible when wearing the uniform so it should be okay, right?
Thank you in advance, and sorry for the long text!
Hello lovely Manoe
DeleteHope u are well dear
Regarding the tattoos u have on ur back and belly...if i were u i would not declare these because its not visible while wearing the uniform and its a small chance anyone will see ur belly or back anyway :-)
the black rose u have on ur foot, i actually once flew with a cabin manager who had a huge tattoo on her foot which she covered with makeup ect...and under the stockings it wasnt even visible...she told me she had hide it when she joined and no one saw it.....
ex during the ditching exam, if u use a water proof makeup to cover ur foot tattoo....u can easily hide it and no one will see....specially with emirates...once u start working it will be easy for u to hide it under stockings and makeup..and than u have the choice of wearing pants....
100% u can NOT declare this foot tattoo because thats in a no no area and 100% they will reject u or ur application...so dont even think to declare this dear....!!!!!
i once attended a emirates open day and one of my friend came with me, she had a tiny tiny tiny star tattoo on her foot, which was so tiny, she declared it and the recruiter told her she could not continue the open day/assessment as her tattoo was not allowed....
the nose piercing u can hide with makeup....
its ok if u have many piercings in ur ear..me myself i have 6 in total but when i did my open day/assessment and final interview with emirates...i only had 1 set of ear rings....and she recruiter did see or noticed i might have other ''holes''' in my ear...but thats ok....
the one in ur tongue...u can take this out....during ur open day ect...no one will see right :-)
and the once in ur belly....no one will see anyway.....
as for the stretched earlobe, this is the only thing i think might cause some issues for u....i dont know how to cover this...BUT i did see this pic online:::::::::
http://bodyartforms-gallery.bodyartforms.com/Hider%20Plug_1.jpg
this person have this thing inside this stretched ear lobe...perhaps u could have this inside...than have a big diamond ring in that too? heheheheehe
but as for the tattoo ur planning to do under ur breasts....no worries about this one...as no one will see this one too
myself i have many tattoos and i never declared any of them....1 of them was even borderline visible....but it was ok...
i even know tons of friends in ek who have tons of piercings or tattoos....all of them are hiding it....
if i were u dear, 100% i would attend this open day on saturday!!!!!!
u can hide all of those stuff u have dear...but the only thing i dont know what to do with..is the stretched ear lobe...but perhaps u know better than me how to hide this or find solutions to this to hide this :-)
I just think none of these stuff should stop u from getting the job u want...because i know tons of folks both in etihad and emirates who have tattoos and piercings....that work for these airlines....
we just have to be smart enough to hide these...
as i mentioned 1 purser had a foot tattoo and she showed it to me and told me she hide it....
:-)
this is the info i have for u dear....
do what feels right for u...and i wish u all the best dear
GOOD LUCK!!!!
hugsss
Thank you so much for your information! I feel so much better now :D I'll hide it with make up and I'll wear stockings on top of it so it will be invisible. As for the stretched earlobe.. I'll try to find a solution. It will be difficult to find a skin-coloured jewel because I'm brown skinned, but I think I'll just put a diamond one in, and put a fake one in my other ear so that it will look like I have one earring in both my ears. I will let you know here how the open day went :) xx
DeleteYou are welcome dear and good luck and yes plz do update me on your open day, fingers crossed u get positive results...wishing u a blessed day today hugssss
DeleteHey! Just wanted to update you..
DeleteUnfortunately I didn't make it to the third round. I think it was because my skirt was too short (it didn't reach knee length). Anyway, I will apply again in six months, cause I really really want the job! Thanks again for your advice and hopefully I will have positive news over 6 months
Dear Manoe, im happy to hear ur determined and will not let anything or anyone stop u from getting this!! it is people like u dear that will succeed cause u wont give up!!! i wish u all the best dear hugsss
DeleteHello Cabincrewdramer,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all congratulate you about this good job helping People to keep up their dream, I hAvé been chosen for Ek and i would love to help People too that way...i think Thats Just wonderful. Thx darling :)
My issue is that i Have a very tiny scar in my lower lip of à piercing i didnt déclaré it because i hide it with an spetial product from hollywood called 'Dermaflage' is soooo good People if you might need it Just get it :)
Im à little scared, would love to know your opinion about my risks of being fired if they got to know I hAvé it, cuz i hide it pretty good but it is Just in my face and you know...Thx hun.
Have lovely flights! :) hugssss
hello dear
Deletethank u for ur kind words dear
and congrats dear that u got the job with ek...such an awesome adventure u will begin soon....
first off i want to say awesome that u found a product which could help u hide this scar u have....2nd if u passed all the rounds and made it to the finals with ek....that means ur good to go...cause the recruiters observe u a lot...and if they couldnt see anything during ur recruitment days...i doubt anyone will see it during ur training...hide it always and u will be fine....i doubt ek will fire people for anything small....its not like emirates aims at hiring robots with flawless skin and faces right...we all have something in our faces....so i doubt anyone will notice this scar of urs dear....just keep hiding it.... :-)
ek pays a lot of money to recruit u guys and bring u guys over to dubai and they wont easily fire someone just like that....it has to be something big for them to fire someone....
i doubt they would fire u for something like this if they ever found out which i doubt they would....
i wouldnt worry about this if i were u dear...keep hiding it with makeup and all...and u will be fine....
wishing u the best dear and good luck
and congrats once again :-)
hugssssssss
Your are so Nice! Thank you!! You can find that product on internet guys.. See you in thé air, wish you thé Best of luck and happy flights!!!! Xxx
ReplyDeleteHi how are you doing l have been reading all the blogs you such a sweet angel thanks for your time to answer all the questions, may God bless you, , know you have answered all the questions , l got an invitation with Emirates but l got a tattoo on my arm which l did 3sections of laser but left with a bit of ink so what must l do need your opinion.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Tilly....
Deletehope ur well
by the way your name ''Tilly''' sounds so nice :-) sounds very positive and nice :-)
in regards to ur questions...100% DO NOT declare ur tattoo...u already begun the laser treatment and there is no need to declare it....also when u make it to the finals....with ek....it will take perhaps 1-3 months before u join....while u wait u can continue ur laser treatment...
this is what i would do if i were u dear....because if u declare this tattoo 100% u will get rejected....
no need to tell anyone specially when u already begun the laser.... :-)
wishing u all the best and thank u for ur kind words dear...
god bless u and good luck with emirates...and have a lovely friday and weekend...hugsssssss
Hello dear,
ReplyDeleteI think it took me 30min to read all the comments :')
I first came to see what you say about tattoos and now I feel less stressed about that. I've got 2 on my wrist, I did my 4th session of tattoo removal, and I will keep going until it's gone, but I won't wait for them to be completely disappeared to go to an AD, make up will do the trick!
But I have one question though, not related to tattoos. I have stretch marks on my legs and thighs, even with stockings you can see them if you really look at my legs ... Have you ever seen cabin crews with stretch marks? Is it ok, or do I have to find very thick stockings and good make up? :/
Thank you in advance for your help!
Cheers from France :)
Hello dear
DeleteI hope you are well :-)
100% ur doing the correct thing with not waiting until ur tattoos are gone to attend an ad...as u already begun the process of removing the tattoos and with makeup u can cover the rest too... :-)
about stretch marks....we all have them...i had them too when i worked with etihad...and i know 4-5 friends of mine who is working with emirates who have them too.....
usually with the right pair of stockings they wont be so visible...also with etihad and emirates skirts, they are long enough...as the skirts are made to be knee length...
as for stretch marks...100% i would not be worried about this, as this isnt something these airlines are strict about..or even would consider this to be a issue for them....this is a human thing...we all have them...more or less.....i have read both etihad/emirates medical papers of what is allowed and whats not...and stretch marks arnt included in those..
i think u will be fine with stockings...and the skirts or the pants....as in emirates u can choose to wear pants or skirt...while in etihad u can only wear skirts...there is few flights u cant wear pants though....
u didnt mention which airline, but i assume ur talking about either etihad or emirates...so i wrote about both just in case :-)
But 100% dont worry about these dear....and well done for removing your tattoos...so u can relax knowing u dont need to worry about tattoos ect....
good luck dear....
wishing u a lovely night
oxoxoxo
Wow thank you so much for your quick answer! I was thinking of Emirates and Etihad indeed :) I feel better now that I have a clear answer about that (impossible to find on boards or specific websites). Have a lovely night too dear :)

Hi!
ReplyDeleteWhat about scars on my hand? It's large and i can't hide it with makeup. Is it a big problem to be worried about?
Thanks in advance!
hi dear
Deleteregarding scars on ur hand...it depends really how deep the scar is and how big it is or where it is located ect....
there is various scars...some are not that visible so we dont need to declare it...some might be visible and big and perhaps we need to declare those.....so its up to u dear...
although of course we all are humans and have scars in various places in our bodies...so these recruiters are aware of this...and some scars are ok to have....
ex these tiny scars...there is no need to declare these cause they are so tiny...:::
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9c/Very-minor-scar.jpg
or

...
while these scars are the scars these airlines want u guys to declare...and these kind of scars might reject candidates ect...cause these are deep and might not be hidden...with makeup ect...

Hello, this is a great blog and you're such a gentle person!
ReplyDeleteI will be in the interview within a 10 days, and I am getting a laser operation for my tattoo in my arm. It's middle-sized but somehow still black. How long does it take to go to Dubai after interview? Coz I wonder If I will have time to remove it completely. I guess I need like 2-3 months more. Or do you know any different surgery to make it faster? and do you know some technics to hide it, I mean like some special coverage or creams?
With love, from Turkey :)
Hi dear
DeleteI hope ur well
thank u for sweet words dear :-)
I think u will manage to go through with ur tattoo laser procedure in time...cause the joining time with emirates takes a veryyyyy long time
it can be anything from 2months to 6 months....
also whatever will be left from the laser treatment u can cover with makeup later on in dubai....
i know this brand called dermacolor....a lot of crew use this to cover scars and tattoos...very good...so check this out...
but i think u should not worry at all about this...as again it takes a long time to join emirates....
wishing u all the best in 10days...good luck dear
have a lovely day

Hello Cabincrewdreamer ;)
ReplyDeleteI've got a strange problem...
As a child I was really alive, everything interested me, I was 7 years old and I was on my grandfathers farm, he has a lot of machines and he left me unattended, and I've put my finger into working machine and it just cut my tip of finger! (2.5 cm).
Now it doesnt looks disgusting or something.. it looks fine but it is just shorter than the other fingers.
I know that I don't have any chance in Emirates or Etihad but what do you think about smaller low cost airlines?
Heres attached photo:
http://postimg.org/image/b052xsv5b/
Greetings from Sweeden,
Matthias ;)
Hi dear Matthias
DeleteI hope ur well
i did see the photo u attached and it looks normal to me...its like as if its a finger without a nail...so i dont see a problem for these airlines to hire u....
but personally i dont have much knowledge/info about this kind of things...and how the recruitment team would consider candidate with such finger.....
But 100% dear Matthias i think u should at least TRY and attend an open day with emirates...cause i see they often come to Stockholm and recruit...or in Oslo...or Copenhagen....so u have a lot of choices here...and if i were u, i would attend an open day...and ask the recruiters what they think about ur finger and if that would give u a chance.....
cause we would never know UNLESS u try....if i were u i would 100% try.....
cause we never know....
as for the other low cost airlines...i dont know dear...as i dont have much knowledge in this area....but again try and see how it goes....
i know tons of people with various situations and they tried their luck with these airlines and got lucky and got the job....
I wish u all the best dear Matthias...and good luck...
also soon new year is here so i want to wish u a lovely new year that is soon coming our way...may ur 2016 be filled with happiness..
have a lovely night

Hi, I am a male and just had my final interview with emirates. Everything went so well, I am super confident of getting the job - only one problem that stands in my way and thats my tattoo's. I'd lie if I said I wasn't worrying about it!
ReplyDeleteWhen asked on the AD did I have any tattoos that would be "visible in uniform" I said no, as the male cabin crew uniform is a suit and my tattoos are completely invisible in it, although they are in the "no-go" area. I declared my tattoos on the application form before the final interview as Ive heard if you dont that can be grounds for dismamissal once you get to Dubai. During the final interview my recruiter flicked through my application form and made absolutely no issue of it, but I am still worried as everything else went so well. I am waiting anxiously to hear back if I am successful or not. But I am so scared that this is going to be the reason for me not getting the job.
What do you think? Is it that strict? I wonder, because why would they give you space on the application form to declare your tattoos if they were completely unacceptable?
Hi dear
DeleteI completely understand your worries regarding the tattoos of yours. It is ok to have tattoos in emirates but as long as its not visible while wearing the uniform. Ex lets say you had a tattoo on your leg, that would be ok for males because males only wear pants while working and even during the training, so they would be ok with that. But for females a tattoo on the leg would not be ok ect....
Ex during the first weeks of training you guys will be wearing these kind of red tshirts as you probably know:::
https://nisrene.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/img_0296.jpg
and i doubt it would be ok for female/male to have tattoos on the arms, while wearing this tshirt and it would be visible ect.....
so it all depends on where the tattoo is....
I dont know where your tattoos are, but as long as its not on your arms, than i would not worry about it, as male uniforms are pants and long sleeve shirts ect. and during ur training if ur tattoos arnt on ur arm, than it wouldnt be visible at all...
also now emirates know u have tattoos ect, and if they approve of all the next stages u have to go through and u get the final approval at the end of the stages,,,than ur good to go.....than u dont need to worry about ur tattoos/tattoo :-)
so this is my two cents about this.... :-)
congratulations thought that u made it to the final interview with emirates...thats a big thing and well done...
wishing u all the best
and good luck with everything
fingers crossed it all will go well...
good luckkkk
:-)
Thanks for your awesome response! I am nervous :( haha! :)
Deleteur welcome dear...and being nervous or having doubt/fear is only natural...we are humans :-)
Deleteof course with a big step/adventure like this...we would feel like this....regardless what the situation is :-)
have a lovely night dear
:-)
Hi. I really need some help and guidance. I am looking forward to become a cabin crew & will apply in the next 4-5 months 'cause I am studying now.
ReplyDeleteI have a black infinity symbol tattoo towards the inside part of my wrist. Previously I thought I could cover up with makeup, but reading few comments here, there are chances of getting caught. Then with a heavy heart I thought I should go for laser removal. But I am confused that after the laser removal, the tattoo isn't completely gone and there is a kind of patch still left. So will I get accepted with that? Or even if I hide that with make up will it be acceptable? What should I say in the interview? Is it a good idea removing it?
I have my laser removal appointment tomorrow I am not being able to decide. Please help me.
hi dear...
Deleteregarding tattoos...when it comes to tattoos on wrists....
its a very sensitive thing for these airlines...usually regardless if we remove them or not....they are very critical in regard to this specific area...
i know a girl who had her wrist tattoo removed and during her recruitment event...she didnt declared it...and she told me even after the laser removal...it did show little bit...but she tried to hide it with makeup...anyhow she got the job with emirates and she never declared this tattoo..even after having it removed....
and i agree with her...and i would give u the same advice...
never ever declare a tattoo on the wrist...even AFTER having it removed...
cause it causes a big issue...in the medical process u have to send pics of ur wrist...even after the removal and someone in HR have to make a approval about that..so its a big headache...
i feel there is no need to declare a tattoo that we are planning to remove....
it is very simple to hide ex scars/tattoos...or marks with a brand called DERMACOLOR....google this...
when i worked as crew a lot of crew used this cream to hide their tattoos...and i saw few of theirs and it was amazing how no one really saw anything.....
100% u should remove the wrist tattoo if ur plans are to score a job with etihad, emirates or qatar....
so its up to u to decide.....
and its great that u will apply in the next 4-5 months cause it takes time for a tatoo laser removal...and its perfect i think...
cause once u get successful to make it to the final interview with either these airlines....it take approx 2-6 months to join....
so 4-5 months + additional 2-6 months....u have plenty of time to remove this wrist tattoo...
it takes several sessions for a tattoo to be removed...yes it might be a mark left from that....but it can easily be covered with makeup.....
anyhow just know that if u decide to declare ur wrist tattoo or even mention this during ur recruitment...even after having it done with laser....it is still a risk for u to get rejected....so i dont advice to declare wrist tattoos...even after having it removed.....as its a area these airlines doesnt approve of...
so this is my advice for u dear..
do what feels right for u
and i wish u all the best
good luck with everything
hugssssssssss
I have a scar on my wrist, because of an accident. During a big argueing with my boyrfriend, i hit the wall with a candlestick made out of glas. it accidently cut my wrist. I was sent to the hospital, so they could sew me, and then they wrote - without my permission og even approval on what they wrote in my Medical journey(!!) - that i have done it tomyself - but that i under the circumstances seemed find.
ReplyDeleteYes of course i was fine! because i did not wanted to take my own life!
i have never suffered from a depression or neither went to a pschologist. which they can also see in my Medical history. so i hope that they can see, that i am a generally happy girl and have always been!
but unfourtenately i cannot change what it says in my Medical history, though it is not the truth!
i am going to my final interview NeXT week, and ofc i will mention this. but i am so afraid of getting rejected because they think i did it to myself. should i be worried?
Hi dear
Deleteregarding the scar on ur wrist, it depends on how deep it is or the size of it or the shape. if i were u, and if this scar wasnt so visible or big or noticeable i would not declare this. cause easily such scars can be covered with makeup.
We all have scars, ex when we were kids we fell ect ect. i had tons of scars, even on my eye brow and i never declared anything.
i have a friend in emirates who removed his tattoo with surgery on his wrist, and he had a scar after that, and he didnt declare it and today he is still working for emirates.
the scars these airlines doesnt approve of is scars like these:::
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20140409/thumbnail/yta2e6et.jpg
which is visible and doesnt look nice. like deep surgery scars ect
but scars that looks like these:::
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9c/Very-minor-scar.jpg
or
https://www.asds.net/uploadedImages/20785611_ml.jpg
or
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/28/ae/06/28ae06712a5f26372ba3b8074a79cf8f.jpg
can easily be covered with makeup....
a lot of crew used DERMACOLOR to hide their tattoos and scars. These last scars i showed u arnt so serious, and its scars we all have more or less.
so it all depends on how ur wrist scar looks like.
if ur scar looks anything like those pics i showed that isnt so visible, if i were u i would not declare it.
regarding our medical history, its illegal for companies to go back and get our medical history. so regardless what u have had in ur past, these airlines will not find out.
ex when u join these companies u write a pre-employment medical paper, which u fill in about ur medical history....and when u come to the part about depression ect u will not declare it....
than when u join the airline and do the medical exams, u will again fill in a medical form, and once again u will NOT declare any mental illnesses or anything. those papers will be the only papers the airlines will look at.
the reason why im saying u should never declare that u had depression ect, even if i know u didnt have it, but the doctors just wrote it ect....its that its immediate rejection if one declare depression or any mental illness ect.
its a big no no for these airlines in regards to mental illness.
u can even read a story about a girl who declared she had depression and lost her job:::
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/may/26/lost-dream-job-emirates-depression-mental-health
so dont worry that these airlines will find out ur past medical history. in regards to etihad or emirates
so in regards to ur wrist scar, i would think twice and hard about this before declaring such thing, as they are very sensitive when it comes to wrist tattoos/scars.
anyhow do what is right for u
and i wish u the best on ur interview
i hope my respond has been little bit helpful :-)
take care dear
oxoxo
Thank you for answering!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure they wont demand to see my medical journal? i have always thought that was something they needed to read just like the dental medical history?
well my scar is three inches long, i tried to take a picture of it so i could share it here and hear your opinion, but i don't think i can do that?
I think that i will mention my scar, because i don't want to feel sick to my stomach and be worried about getting sent home from dubai - if i get the job.
can i opload picture in this commentforum?
Hi again
DeleteWhen i joined etihad no one saw my past medical papers from my home country, only the papers we all signed and filled in ourselves and the doctors on that day. And i have friends who joined ek and told me the same thing.
you can use this site to upload that pic of ur scar and share the link here::
http://tinypic.com/
i wouldnt mind taking a look at it :-)
Take care dear :-)
Thanking you for taking your time Again!
ReplyDeleteI have oploadet a Picture. usually it is a Little red, but i have tried to cover it up with some makeup. It does not look that bad with makeup on. But i think i still want to declare it... cause i dont want to take any risks...... or should i just not do it... i dont know..
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h5jhqe&s=9#.VrGpF7kUW1s
Hi dear
Deleteno worries, i will always be replying here :-)
Thank you for uploading the pic dear. Although what i wish i could see is this scar without makeup, cause if you are going to declare it, the recruiters might want to see it on the spot, and than its not a good idea to cover it with makeup, and just leave it without makeup.
My first impression when i saw it, is that it does not look as if u have done this to urself, it does look like an accident to me. Usually those who harm themselves, their scars look like this:::
https://nikitatay.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/dsc01150.jpg
or
https://nikitatay.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/dsc01140_2.jpg
i know this because i once worked as a nursing assistant and saw these kind of stuff.
So to me if i saw your scar i would not believe you did this to yourself.
Also in this pic of urs, u have covered it with makeup and i didnt even notice it. ex if u would not tell anyone about this and no one knew, no one would notice or mention anything about this.
It does not look deep to me, or weird looking ect, because some scars are very deep and doesnt look good.
If i were in your shoes, i would not declare it, because im way too scared of the risks of getting rejected, specially when i know i can cover it with makeup. When i joined etihad i had tons of scars and tattoos and i never declared any of them, and covered them with makeup ect, and no one noticed and no one said anything and i was good to go. I didnt declare it because of my fear of rejection.
BUT said this, since you feel the right thing for you is to declare it, i feel its best for you to declare it and see what happens.
Also i want to add 1 more thing, as a crew we ALWAYS have to wear a watch at all times, its a MUST. The grooming manager sometimes check if we have a watch or not and during the training they check if we have a watch or not, the reason for this beside of knowing the time is, ex if a emergency happens onboard, and we have to time something ex heart beats or whatever it is ect, thats why we have to wear a watch. By this i mean with wrist scars like this, at the end of the day when we are working no one will even see a scar like urs. (makeup + a watch)
Im just sharing some info for u, but you are doing the right thing in declaring it! I think u should 100% follow ur gut feeling :-)
But this is my personal view :-)
Sorry i rambled on about a lot of stuff, i tend to do that sometimes heheehe
GOOD LUCK once again
have a lovely day
oxoxxo
Here is the scar without makeup:
ReplyDeletehttp://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=uW4M4OjFxsYjno7Hbmqgfoh4l5k2TGxc#.VrJikDbhCRs
as you can see - it is pink.....
Are they really THAT strict about scars?
And if they check if i am wearing my watch, they might someday see that i have a scar?
i am very much in doubt of what to do... but what fun is it to be hired, if you constantly walk around are afraid of getting send home.
but i would also hate losing the opportunity because of this small thing i can cover up with makeup!
Dear Lissa
Deletethank you for the photo without the makeup. These airlines are very strict about tattoos/scars IF they are in a visible area while wearing the uniform.
The image i posted in this blog post about areas which is ok and not ok ect. And the wrist area is a very sensitive area for these airlines. the reason for this is, that the passengers can see this area, and these airlines are very much into image and they want their crew to have a ''clean image'',,, they think a crew with tattoos/scars visible to the passengers, would not give out a nice image ect.....
Ex if this scar was on your stomach these airlines would not blink an eye or be strict about this because its not visible when u wear the uniform ect.
But because it is in a no no area, they will think twice before they approve or not.
And the checking of the watch, which i mentioned before, there will be 1 time during ur grooming class, where the grooming manager or the trainer might go around and check if you guys have the correct watch on. it is not like they come 1mm close to your watch and check, its more like a person standing next to you to see if you have a watch. And at this point you will show the grooming manager/trainer your watch holding your hand up, and your scar is under your hand. and you will show this side of your hand:::
https://dwquailgolf.com/golf_gps/images/Expresso-GPS-Watch/Expresso-Golf-GPS-Watch-arm.jpg
the same goes at the airport when the grooming manager does sample tests of the crew...they might pop up once in a while to check how crew look like, as everyone have to dress the same and have all the stuff ect. they randomly check crew....
and this grooming person at the airport might not check ur watch at that specific day, sometimes they check if we have a belt on or if our makeup is on point, or if our hat is correctly ect and perhaps she might want to see if we have a watch. although she might not check all of those things at the same time, because there isnt much time when we are at the airport on our way to the briefing room. so its more like a 30sec check with the grooming manager....
ex i think i mentioned this, but i have a eye brow scar, and i always hide it with makeup and on one saw it and said anything. the thing is, my eye brow scar is visible if someone would check correctly, cause even if i hide it with makeup, i mean there is no hair in one of the side lol...
so what i mean with this is, its not like these airlines does a body examination as if we are in prison....heheeh
while they are strict, they arnt prison strict lol
also someone told me that usually when these tattoos are found, is when a trainer/doctor during training sees it if its out in the open...
not like they do a body examination or something..
also these companies pay a lot of money to bring u guys over, and all the fees they pay for u guys, they wont easily fire someone....if they would be so strict than they would pay tons of money and fire people left to right, that doesnt make sense and these companies would loose money over this....
it has to be something major for them to fire a candidate...
i know first hand 2 of my batch mates who got fired during my training...1, was a girl who had a visible wrist tattoo and she declare it herself, while being there...she got fired...as her wrist tattoo was big...
2nd than a candidate in my batch didnt pass his medicals there, ex there was some blood issues he had and he got fired because of this blood issue.....
so 2 major problems...which is understandably....
i also know people who had issues but the airline gave them chances to correct this so they could continue to be in the company and fly...
ex there was this girl in my batch who had bad acne, and the company gave her medicine for it to become better, after few weeks, her skin became better so she continued...
also i want to share this story with u.. during one of my layovers me and a co worker went and had some tattoos done, and while i had a tattoo done on a hidden place in my body , but my co worker was more brave and had a tattoo done on HER WRIST..yes on her wrist...a tiny one though...lol she hide it under her watch and with some makeup...
Deletetoday she is still working with etihad 5+ years now.
:-)
what my point here is, there is soooo many people hiding stuff and it all depends of course of what it is, but we do have a private life over there and its not like we HAVE to share every single detail about us to these airlines. i know stories about this with ek and ey as well :-)
anyhow coming back to this pic u showed me, now when i see it like this, without makeup, im torn. Im afraid this scar of your might be in the risk zone, for them to not approve it.
I fully understand you being in doubt and not knowing what to do.
Also i understand as a newjoiner to a company, we have fear of the unknown. We dont know how things works ect.
But i want to add that as time goes we get used to the company ect, that doubt/fear will no longer be there.
I fully understand your worries/fear in regards to this scar of yours. ex if u declared it ur in a risk of loosing this job, and thinking what if u could hide this and still get away with this.
so two choices leading to one PATH of who knows what :-)
we all makes choices, and we make the choices we feel is right for us at that time ect.....
sorry i ramble on and on heheheheh
my god this post is like a mini book heheheh
I hope i have given you some insight to this....
But i wish you all the best dear on choosing whatever you choose to do.
Please update me later on what u chose to do, and what the results were..
:-)
have a lovely day Lissa
Thank you for answering - again!
ReplyDeleteWell... i'm sure that i want to declare it... i don't want to stress myself about getting sent home.
i will just cover it up with some makeup during my final interview, so it doesn't seem so pink.
but i will share my answer from them, when it come to that point :-) !
Do they get us to remove our watches during the interview?
ReplyDeletedear abbey,
Deleteduring my etihad and emirates recruitment process, no one told us to remove our watches.
GOOD LUCK :-)
Hi cabincrewdreamer! Greetings from Brazil!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the Open Day by Emirates in 10 days. I've been preparing myself for it, but i still have one major doubt: this tattoo that I have in my biceps.
https://fbcdn-photos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfl1/v/t1.0-0/p206x206/12742733_10153965417489310_155348468684694607_n.jpg?oh=3527bf71f0e37cde83303917fd293dce&oe=57297A79&__gda__=1466796690_8addac64e3a985ef55877182fd875d1f
As you can see, is a small one, in the inner portion of the biceps, almost at the armpit area. I've been worried about it, so I got an appointment at the dermatologist to start the removal procedure this week. My questions are: should I tell them about the tattoo, even if I'm gonna remove it? Is it in a no go area or not? Regardless, I'm removing it - my mom hates it haha. AS you can see, if I stand normal, even if I turn my arm, it don't appear at all

The other one is a triangle in my chest - I think that's not a problem right?

Obs: my hairstyle is no longer side shaved. I got normal hair now haha =)
Thank you for all the infos you've been sharing, they're helping a lot! Obrigado!
Hi dear Jonas
DeleteI hope you are well
wanted to wish you all the best on your emirates
open day in 10 days!! good luck...
regarding the tattoo of urs, thank u for sharing pics of them so i can see, its easier for me to see than imagining it via words.....anyhow the tattoo on your bicep...
there is absolutely no need to declare this tattoo
because u are in the process of removing it
and i doubt anyone will see this area anyway...after the removal...
well done for starting the process...
the triangle tattoo is no issue, you can declare this or not doesnt really matter....u do as u feel.
but if i were u i would not declare not even the triangle one
cause no one will see this and it wont even cause any issue what so ever...it will only give more paper work for u...ex if u declared the triangle, the recruiters might give u some papers to fill in regards to this triangle tattoo...also later on u might have to take pics of it and send it for them so they know....
but again my personal opinion about the triangle tattoo is that i would not declare this at all.
anyhow if u have further questions let me know
have a lovely day and i hope u will succeed soon!
take care oxoxxo
Hello, is so great see how u help everyone here and ansewr witch questionar, congratulations u are really helpful person.
ReplyDeleteI wonder to know if is some problem to have a tatto on the clavicle? Like Rihana have on her clavicle.
Or if is possible cover that without get problems.
Thanks so much. big hugs !
hi dear
Deletethank u sooo much for ur kind words, i love helping out, if i can 100% i will.
:-)
in regards to having a clavicle tattoo, i actually loveeee this area for tattoos, cause it looks so nice :-) personally i have a tattoo in this area
but unfortunately its kind of borderline area...cause this is very close to the collarbone area and thats borderline not acceptable.
but 100% it is possible to cover this and not declare this and no one will even notice. cause i have a tattoo in that area and i covered it with makeup and i didnt declared it and i was fine...
the only time someone might see this area is if ex when the nurse is doing the vaccinations for u during the medicals...but if u cover it with makeup the nurse wont even notice....which i did.
If u decide to declare this, ur in a risk of getting rejected as this is a borderline acceptable/not acceptable.
what i would do if i were u, i would of course not declare it.
Than u do what feels right for u dear
this advice is only for emirates&etihad!!!
not qatar :-)
Hope this helps dear
have a lovely day
oxoxo
Hi dear thanks for answer!
ReplyDeleteIn fact I going aply for Emirates, I imagine that area may not acceptable. I have try cover with dermacolor, but doesn't cover very well. Do u have any other suggestion for make up, I tought buy Vichy Dermablend but I font know if really works.
Another curious...Are u cover the tattos when u go outside Aline or with another colleagues. Sometimes I think how I go to the beach or party with colleagues or even Alone, and I have to cover that, or not. Thanks so much to help everyone here, u are a amazing person!
♥ awww you are sooo sweet, god bless you ♥ thank uu
DeleteRegarding dermacolor, actually a lot of crew i flew with in etihad used dermacolor to hide tattoos/scars. and i know 2 crew in ek who also use this brand. this brand is the only brand i know of. i didnt knew about vichy dermablend, but try it and see if it works.
just want to add that a lot of crew have tattoos heheeh and almost all my friends had tattoos..so the only time we worked we would cover our tattoos.
but when we were off duty then we didnt need to hide our tattoos. obviously none of us had crazy visible huge tattoos, but we didnt feel the need to cover them when we didnt work.
example a lot of crew buildings have pools and we all would enjoy our times and we didnt even worry about someone seeing our tattoos. cause no one really is bothered about rules and stuff like that off duty lol.
its not like we felt worried or had fear someone would see us when we were out and about in regards of tattoos.
ex i knew a girl who had a tongue piercing and one on her lip, she took them off when she worked and always had them on when she was off duty.
also even if someone saw u having a tattoo, this person dont know ur situation, this person doesnt know if u declared it or not, or what is going on......and if a person would actually be crazy enough to take note of someone elses tattoo and tell the airline about this, than this person is MENTALLY ILL heheehe
and i didnt really come across anyone being like that heeheheh
but yes while working we need to be careful!
i dont know if u read the story i wrote to someone else here, but i once flew with a cabin manager/purser who had a big foot tattoo, she even showed it to me. told me she covered it with makeup and the stocking. LOLLLL
so yeah we all have our things, and we just have to be smart enough to hide it and just go on with our daily lives :-)
have a lovely night dear take care
hugssssssss
Woooowww, yes I just tought may someone tell, but thats ok then. Yupiiiii!
ReplyDeleteAgain, thanks to help everyone here u really suport and make the people believe on their dreams!
Hope and wish all the best for u!
Big hugs for u God bless u dear!
