Etihad Airways Cabin Crew Recruitment Process

  • ASSESSMENT 8:00am

We started outside the conference room.
It was 4 recruiters there during that day.
The recruiters gave us some papers to fill in.
The papers were about:

Have you worked as a cabin crew for Etihad before?
Do you have any tattoos?
Also about eye vision…etc.

When we were done with that we went and handed in the papers.
We also gave them a passport photo to a recruiter. Then a recruiter gave us a name tag and a number.

We stood in line…one by one we were called to go into the conference room to do the reach test which was 210cm…thankfully I manage to do it and I'm 5´3 (160cm)

After this we went outside and a recruiter asked us to go inside and sit in another conference room.

We sat in tables with 6 people in each I think…and as I counted we were around 30 candidates during this assessment day. Not many at all.
I had expected more than 30 people, but again its far better with less candidates than loads. Being in a small group give us the opportunity to stand out more and get noticed.

The ladies started with talking about Abu Dhabi and some info about the company.
After that they had a quiz. The question session was about what the ladies had talked about. Kind of a listening test here.
We had to answer the questions the recruiters had talked about in our group and we had to write this down.
After that the recruiters asked each table a few questions.

The recruiters were lovely and so easy going and so funny, which made the mood in the room pleasant and relaxed.

Now the group activities started.

Once again with the group in our table, we were given many words. We had to pair every word, 3 in each example like yellow, blue, grey, which is in the category of colors and we put that in one group.
They had ex diamond, gold silver and they also had hands, fingers, legs…ect
When that was done they surprised us with telling us now we had to create a story of all the words and everyone had to say something.
While doing so a recruiter was sitting in each table and taking notes, about us.

Here I noticed that its not about getting the story done or doing it as fast as possible, it was more for them to see how we work together. Seeing team work, communication etc.

That done.
Role play started.

Again the same group around the table we sat in, we was given these small papers about situations.
We had to play the role of a angry customer and a service provider who was going to deal with the situation.
Ex from the papers I got was like I'm sitting in a restaurant and I'm not happy with the food and I shall complain, while the next person was going to handle this complaint that I had.
2nd one was that I was a waitress and I had to deal with a angry customer ect ect.
We did this 2 and 2 with the candidates who sat in our tables.

That done.

Now English test started….

It wasn't difficult at all, very simple actually. It had very short parts.

1st part we had to read this letter and there was questions about the letter
2nd part was a text with missing words we had to fill in
3rd part we had to do opposite words …example light-dark ect
4th part was we had to fill in missing words again
5th part was a text we had to read and it was questions about it.

Most of these had multiple answers.

We took a long break after this. But we got tons of short breaks during the activities too.

Now the time was around 1pm I think.

The ladies came in and it was time for eliminations…

While we sat in the conference room one of the ladies called 9 names who made it to the next round..

Thankfully I was one of them!!!

Now from 30 we became 9….

5 girls and 4 boys

Those who were called could sit and the rest left. Those who left were eliminated. Those who sat passed this round.

To my surprise here, we found out that we had made it to the FINAL INTERVIEW
To my surprise we ONLY had one elimination, I thought there was two.
We all 9 made it to the final interview which is amazing and so surprising.

They congratulated us and told us we will be doing our final interview.
The final interview was the same day.
  • THE FINAL INTERVIEW

Now the recruiters told us about the training, and salary and what to do and don’t do in Abu Dhabi ect.

Finished with that we had to fill in 1 paper about references and another paper about what languages we knew.
During this point those who were fluent in Arabic or Russian or German had to leave the room and do a language test to verify that they really were fluent in those languages.
None of us knew Arabic but there was a few who did the Russian test and German.

Now we continued to fill in the security papers.

We all had to go outside and continue filling out the papers while one candidate sat inside with the recruiter to do their FINAL INTERVIEW.

We gave all the papers we were told to bring, plus passport photos and full length photos.

Now it was my time to do the interview and to my surprise I ended up with a very kind and easy going and funny recruiter who made everything easy and fun.
I really think if we have luck and end up with a easy going recruiter than we are super lucky. This increases our chance to connect better with the recruiter.

The questions she asked me was actually typical cabin crew interview questions.
Example questions:

Why do you want to work for Etihad Airways?

Why do you want to work as a cabin crew?

How do you feel about working with people from different Cultures and backgrounds?

What challenges would you face as a cabin crew?

Have you helped your co-worker without him/her asking?

Tell us a time you did something very good for a customer? And how did she/he react to it?

How would you deal with being away from your family when working as a cabin crew?

What challenges would you face in Abu Dhabi?

Tell us a time when you have successfully worked with a team?

Then she told me that NEXT WEEK they will email us if we are successful or not.

We were finished with the interview.

After the interview we completed those papers and handed them in and went home.

Now the only thing I can do is to WAIT
Until next week to see if i get the successful email or not....
Exciting and scary :-)

  7. Hi Dear... :)
Thank you so much for the best wishes thank u...
I finished my final interview and logged in and Gave to the good news..
whatever you have written in your blogs I followed them blindly and did my best make up,wore my best attire, did my best hair style and went booth the days(assessment and on the final day interview
)I was so excited and not at all scared and nervous when I was giving my interview.

Yes but on assessment day when I was given a slip I was so damn scared and nervous..
There were around 124 candidates who were came for assessment day..and were sitting in 3 different rooms..after the 1 round was over the agency people started handing over the slip and I still remember they talking with each other that none of them had made it in this room..I was heart broken after hearing this ..They started calling out the reference no. for the slip and when my turn came the missed my no. and started calling out the no. after me...I got confused..
Then later My no. was called and here we go I got a congratulation slip...yayyyyyyyyyy
u won't believe I was the only candidate selected in that room..I was really happy and thinking finally my hard work is paying off :)

All the round went very quick they rejected majority of crowd in first round...

In second round of Group discussion one situation about some passenger veg meal not uplifted situation question was asked and everybody was trying to proof their point to be the best well i kept quite and realised that one the recruiters was noticing me.finally when every one spoke then the recruiter who was noticing me asked me to speak somethng.so I spoke a summary of what every one discussed .
In third round when we were given the paper to write the pattern was similar to what u have mentioned...They lady came and told us to fill up the black page also but half after writing in the ruled page for the easy .she repeated it once again ,suddenly ur listing skill test what you mentioned in the thread stroked in my mind..and the people who didn't do it were rejected..

funny I also happen to like the topic my favorite holiday spot ,so I was just writing and writing untill the half blank page...lol

Finally On my final interview I was so excited that I just wanted to enter and start it..Both the recruiters took very less time and completed my interview in 2o or 25 minutes..I inquired from receptionist about how much time every candidate spent inside and she said manimum 50 minutes...I don't know whether this is a good sign or not????????????????..

so I asked my friend who I flying with EK she said it is a positive sign..as per her they must have got clear about you so it is a good sign...Let See what happens?

But again I want to say I have a very strong positive feeling again this time that I will get through(again too early to say this)

I am glad to bring back the positive news:)
Trust me I will never forget this day...

Yesterday I appeared for Qatar airways interview(their was only one round the final round for experience cabin crew) so waiting for the mail from them also...

    Lets see what happens..

Once again Thank you for sharing the blogs....I followed them blindly...GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS..Helping a needy is like increasing your list of good deeds.God bless you my frnd ..I am happy to know you... :)

surely will be more than happy to let u know my Result...
    Take care...oxoxoxox :)

  8. dear flyinfish....

thank you for sharing your experience with me..during the emirates process...
when i read it ...i did remember back on how i felt..being nervous and happy and all
but making it to the final interview felt sooo wonderful...
and u got ur slip....during those moments its like u won something....

about the interview u did...it only took me 20min too i think..but i dont think this gives us a answer yet..
i have had friends who got the job with 30min, even 10min, and even 1h 10 min too...

but its good your keeping ur options open and applying for various airlines and doing various interviews...the more the better....

now lets see what happens...but this waiting game is horrible though....but if ur lucky they will call u early....

but the most important is ur trying to reach what u want...and thats all it counts dear...
    well done again!

ur so sweet.. god bless u too and i hope whatever u wish for...will soon come to u...
remember if its meant to be its meant to be...
but i hope u dont need to wait more....

    1. Hi folks, I am also applying for cabin crew positions in all of the discussed airlines but please beware that working for Qatar doesn't seem to be bed of roses. Please google "working for Qatar Airways" and you will find many testimonials talking about "bigbrothersich" conditions. Also, I have read that you cannot apply for Emirates job one year after leaving Qatar. Fingers crossed, I am attending next Qatar Airways assessment day but I am not planning to take the job if I am successful.

    2. Hi :-)
Regarding Qatar, there is some good and some bad....
i have friends working for Qatar who loves it and is very hard working and it works well for them...
so something that might not work for someone might work for another person...
I have also heard negative stuff about Qatar but i think everything in this world is a challenge and if your up for it you can do it, doesn't matter what we do...
      :-)

  11. hello My Dear ... :)

After you mentioned I read ur post ....awww u leaving now.
Well I also left my flying and resigned on 31st may,12 ,I was working with Kingfisher Airlines for past 4 yrs .. If you have heard of this Airline?
I can totally relate to you and empathize the situation.I know how difficult it is to give back ur stuff specially the uniform that u won't be wearing that anymore...
ur Id card,SEP flying license ( its hard when I gave them back I clicked my pictures with all of the things which I no longer be wearing or carring for flights....

But trust me I also did the same I had choice either to push it or pursue somethng that gve u joy...I was borred with domestic flying ,splly after my friends joined Qatar,EK,Singapore airlines ....
So I also finally decided to leave whether I get through anywhere or not and I am enjoying this period...U will also ..

Happy to hear that u didn't push it and took a quick step for ur dreams..

Here is the mail I got the mail from Qatar Airways

    Dear XYZ,

Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been recommended for the position of Cabin Crew with Qatar Airways.

Please read this e-mail carefully and completely as it contains the necessary information for you to successfully complete the recruitment process.

The next steps in the recruitment process are the following:
    1) Confirm the reception of this e-mail
    2) Complete the pre-employment medical examinations
    3) E-mail a valid passport copy

So I thought about it over and over again and after taking feedback from my friends who are flying with Qatar I send them a mail stating that I will re-apply for this position after 6 mnths.Waiting for the reply ..lets see what they have to say ...

I knew if I would have joined I would hve cum back in six mnths only or may be more early. So I am trying to have some patience and
Re-apply for Emirates after six mnths ...

I am happy atleast I made it till finals for EK where I always use to get rejected in 1st round and EK considered me ,told me to reapply after six mnths rather than 1yr wait period...so to me that mail was less of a rejection mail and more of a positive mail which gave me some hope..

I am in touch with almost every candidate who made it till finals, amongst whom some of us have got regret mail and its been almost 2 months those left out who are still waiting ...How it is possible that none of us got through?

I heard EK due to some technical issues in A-380 they are sending their 380's back and the crew of 380 are getting trained for main fleet ,so the training college is full...I dunno what is with EK ?what r they up to I hope till the time I have to apply they require crew :)

So I am following the path which I think is the best..
    good luck to you Dear..
I wish you luck and pray that u get success in life and carrer..

    god bless u too

i see so u also resigned your job, but well done for doing that for 4 years, well done..
    amazing....
and i totally agree with you with what u said, about either we push through or not we are still enjoying this new beginning...
the thing is we can only push to a limit...we all have our personal limits right...
funny as we resigned almost the same days too lol

as for u getting qatar congratulations...and im happy u fallowed ur heart regarding u wont take this offer but will reapply later if u wish to...but i heard its very difficult to get a job offer from qatar so well done dear!!!

even if u wont take up on the offer,,,,that they liked your cv and everything else...must be a huge thing...and a confident boost for u right?
    im happy for u dear....

    1. Cabincrewdreamer,

How long had you been with Etihad before you resigned? I'm still in training at the moment but I've already realised that this is not the place for me. I was in a different place, personally, when I applied for the job and now it's come to actually being here, I know it's not what I want anymore. I'm just wondering about the financial element of leaving before the 6month probation period is over?

Any information/advice you could give me would really be appreciated. Part of me doesn't want to give up because it's not my nature, but a bigger part of me is telling me that I shouldn't be here!

    2. Heyyy Elle Bee!

Well i was with Etihad almost exact 1 year.
To be honest i dont remember the rules about resigning within 6 months of your probation time.

But i understand how you feel, when ur heart isnt in it anymore, why torture urself to be there...i understand totally...it is really torture to do something we no longer want...

But i know many people who resigned during the probation time and even like you during the training time too....but im sorry i cant advice u or have info about this....

But good luck on whatever you choose to do....but at the end of the day FALLOW UR HEART!

hey I have heart that even Ethiad's interview is also not the piece of cake...

Even I had this passion that I can only pursue if i become a crew with EK or ETHIAD ...
Recently their is some problem and issues happening in EK coz of their 380's so they slowing down their pace of recruitment ...

I just hope their 380 issues solves quickly...

yes I truly agree with you..WE SHOULD REMAIN POSITIVE....if you are positive god will make way for you and that way will lead to you dream....

After facing rejection I now want this job even more...

I work on the ship so every time I need to go to another country to apply because they have an interview during my vacation! Now Im going to Barcelona in a week to try for Emirates again! And I wont give up if they refuse me again! I wont even feel bad! I know I can do it, it's just a matter of time! Thank you for everything! I can tell how amazing person you are....

I totally understand you and know how it is to be in your shoes regarding the rejections and trying all the time...
but remember if u never tried you would regret why u didnt try
i know its frustrating, cause u give all ur energy and time and money into this.
but one day u will get it and all of those hardships would be worth it!
see the rejections as a roller coaster ride, when one is done, YOU HAVE TO JUMP IN A NEW RIDE AGAIN...

  16. Hi Dear Cabin crew,

How are you doing with your flights, now you are not a cabin crew dreamer anymore, am the one right now :)

Really i like this page soooo much because it presents all information i was need to. it is so kind of you to help people with providing such information.

If you do not mind i have one question i need an answer for it as soon as possible.

I have just finish my probation period with Qatar Airways as an Food and Beuvrage Service Agent, they had hired me as a cabin crew but when i came here everything changed, now am going to start applying for cabin crew jobs focusing on my LOVE Etihad Airways.

the only thing am worried about is that i worked only 6 months (am still working under qatar airways up to now, am in my 7th month) if i will get the chance for an assessment day, will they REJECT me because of that ?????
By the way i have a diploma of technician specialised in trade and another one for cabin crew, my first job is this one with qatar airways.

Pleeeeeaaaaase if you know something about my situation let me know as well as soon as possible, am going to apply now and since am living in Qatar they may call me for the assessment days for september.

Thank you very much for advance
    God Bless you.

  17. Dear simed…
Thank u, im well hope you are doing well too!
    Thank you for your kindness…
As for your situation, well during my flying time I had a lot of ex Qatar crew co workers who worked with etihad now…and they had no issues as what I heard from them moving from Qatar to etihad…but I have heard a lot about moving from qatar to emirates cause they have a 1 year ban or something…don’t know what that is about…

But you can read more about this in this link I saw:

    http://www.cabincrew.com/forums/is-it-able-to-move-from-qatar-to-ek-or-ey/46013/1

I actually don’t see a issue here and I remember when I spoke to my coworkers who were ex Qatar crew they didn’t mention any difficulties, but everyone mentioned difficulties going from Qatar to emirates…
Of course u should apply for etihad…don’t let your worries or whatever stop u!!!
As long as u finished ur 6 months in Qatar right….and I see u probably have a great resume too….so I don’t see any issues!
Go for it!!!! As this is ur dream airline right….i wish u all the best dear…good luck!!! Be safe and god bless u too!!!

  18. Hi there, your blog is amazing and absolutely inspirational. I went to an Emirates open day where around over 300 people turned up, I didn't get noticed at all plus the recruiter person didn't seem too nice at all. However, as a sort of a back up I did apply for Etihad Airways on their website and to my surprise I got an email inviting me for an assesment day in Abu Dhabi. I live in europe but thought I might as well take up this chance and fly to Abu Dhabi, see the city as I have never been there before and do the assesment day. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is what I say! I just hope that they are a nice friendly bunch of people as I am a little nervous going all that way and I am totally out of my comfort zone. The assesment day is in two and a half weeks time! Can you give me any words of advice? I am male too. Is Etihad prodminately female crew? Do you think this may go against me?

but the fact u had a PLAN B which we always have to have in life is AWESOMEEEE...congratulations for completing step 1...obviously they saw something interesting in ur application...!!! and now ur invited!!! FUN AND EXCITING...

if u have the opportunity to fly over to abu dhabi than of course u have to do this....
and whatever result u will get...will be meant to be...but u will see the city though which is cool..and if u have time:: dubai is only 1hour away so u can visit dubai too... :-)

All you can do is to do your BEST...than your work is done,, than its up to whatever it is to see how far you will go....
the main thing is you should be proud of yourself for trying and doing your best!

etihad do hire a lot of female crew but they have to mix it up with male too....so of course u have chances here...during my flights there was always at least 1 male crew too...

during my final interview there was 4 guys ..and 1 of those guys was in my initial training batch as well...in my batch during my training we had like 4-5 boys i think...

at the end of the day they choose those who they think would fit their ´´vision´´
they might hire more women but of course they want males too...to complete this vision!!!

advice: (this is my personal words, it might not be the perfect reply but it is what i think worked for me...and what i saw/ learned during my process )

well the no 1 biggest advice i always give people during the open-day..assessment day and interview...is always BE CONFIDENT...that confidence will show and the recruiters love people who are confident, understanding and professional...with confident i dont mean to be ´´over the top-look at me- im the best´´
      be soft yet strong!
Like act, walk, talk strong, which shows this person can handle any situation!

Thats the difference which helped me pass this one i think compared to other times i got rejected, cause i wasnt confident and wasnt secure in myself and stuff like that....

remember always to listen when doing the group tests and say words like: I UNDERSTAND, THATS INTERESTING..like ´´act´´ your are a understanding person..and listens to others...

During customer service group tests say words like: IM SORRY I WILL HELP SOLVE THIS FOR YOU, I WILL DO MY BEST TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR YOU
      ect ect

Never raise your voice during tests even if they say to you guys to ´´act angry´´

If you are good in acting than put those acting skills in act..cause even if you are not that person ..BE / ACT that person they want to see!
      thats 100% true...seriously...

Hope all of this can be little helpful, but again you know what is best for you when you enter that room!

GOOD LUCKKK its not long now until you will try your luck and i hope you will get this!!! hope you can come back with good news....
I mean at least you are trying thats in itself is amazing...so well done....
      GOOD LUCK AND TAKE CARE

  19. Greetings, any tips for male applicants? I really don't have a perfect pair of teeth. Will this be a hindrance with my application? Thanks!

By the way, thanks for sharing your experience. It's really giving me courage to apply as a cabin crew even if I stand only 5'5" tall/short.

    Best Regards,
    Ralph

    1. Hello dear Ralph!
      Hope your well!
I dont know what you mean by perfect teeth, but you would never know that answer if you would never TRY!
you have to apply and do the open day/ assessment day and see how it goes....i cant really say what would be ok or not..cause to be honest during my flights, i have seen people with various teeth...some made it...some didnt...

but go and try, you will regret if you never tried!
as for male applicants, of course males have chances too...like the females...
the tips and advices i have written above, is the same regardless female or male...

Well dear as for your height:: i will tell you im 5´3 (160cm) and i had a male in my batch during my training who was shorter than i was...
and he made it and he is flying now!
the same goes for females...so dont let your height stop u!

as for the tattoo question u had below, because you are male and you always wear long pants on board so it wont be visible while wearing your uniform right...so no issues there...

the question here is: should you be honest and tell you have a tattoo or not? thats your choice....
but i have had both females and males having tattoos on their legs but it wasnt visible while wearing the uniform of course...so thats ok..as far as i know.....

again, its a lot about luck actually, cause i have had batchmates and flown with co workers who perhaps didnt have all the things they say in the ´´etihad dress code - look code´´ ´´book´´ that this is how you should look like or be...people were so much different - than etihad wanted us to be or look like........although when etihad hire people of course they go after a ´´check list paper´´ but again if your lucky, you will slide through even if you might not have all that from that check list ,,,
cause i think we are only humans, and we are not perfect of course!!!

ex: i know for a fact!!! that one of my batchmates who didnt reach enough during her reach test and the recruiter was ´´ so kind´´ that she let her go..and passed her...

so we never know......but if we dont try we will never know :-)

GOOD LUCK DEAR......GO AND TRY YOUR LUCK! WISH YOU THE BEST!!

  20. One more thing. I have a tattoo on my leg. It's not visible though. Will this affect my eligibility?

  21. Thank you do much for your reply! I'm sorry if I got you confused regarding the "perfect teeth". What I meant was that I need to have braces in order to fix. That's how ugly it is. Haha! Anyway, I'm reading your blog and it's really nice that you're having fun traveling. That's what I like the most. As for Abu Dhabi, I was born there and I'm very keen to be back there if the recruiters will invite me for an interview. By the way, it's also a good thing that you're able to update your blog. Aspiring cabin crews like me need this kind of encouragement. Thanks again dear! I'll submit my cv soon after I finish it.

    1. Hello dear Ralph!
You are so welcome, im happy to help,
as for your teeth, i understood what you meant, and i have actually flown with people who didnt perhaps have the straightest teeth ect...
but i dont know how your teeth looks like, so i cant really reply on this question...but all i know is you have to give it a shot...perfect teeth or not..u need to give it a go! and see if u get this or not...
and keep me updated regarding ur application..good luck!
fun that ur from abu dhabi,,,than i guess u miss the charm of abu dhabi? i know i do...
i dont know if you have read updates about me from my blog, but i resigned etihad 5 months ago so im no longer flying...and no longer living in abu dhabi... :-)
about encouragements well we all need drops of ´HOPE everyday i feel...without hope where would we be i wonder..but i like to share all the motivational things with everyone, who chooses to read, cause seriously life isnt easy...
even if we fulfill our dreams and get that ´´golden´´ point..or achieve the highest achievement we ever thought...´´life still isnt easy´´ and we still will go through bad days...

as for your tattoo question, to tell or not to tell..., this question a lot of people ask me...and i ask people too,,,what they think about this....
cause i have tons of tattoos myself...
well this is up to each and one of us to decide what is best for us...

along the journey from open day until the final medical exams in abu dhabi...they will ask you 4 times either on paper or verbally, DO YOU HAVE ANY TATTOOS?

during open day we have to write it down yes or no...if we have any tattoos....what i did was i wrote no...during final interview they will ask u again and i said no again...
during medical exam days in abu dhabi they will ask verbally and i said no..and finally we had to write it on paper during the final medical exam days in abu dhabi and i wrote no..
the reason i did that was i was soo scared if i said yes, they wouldnt approve of me...
although all of my tattoos was not visible under the uniform...but 1 of my arm tattoos was just veryyy close to be visible while wearing the uniform..
but i got lucky and got away with it....

i chose to hide the truth and say no,,,,what you choose to do Ralph is up to you....

i have had batchmates who had tattoos, and were honest and told the truth and it was ok...
i have had batchmates who had tattoos and no one knew about it...and no one would find out...but she decided to be honest and unfortunate she got fired.....

well we all choose whatever path we want to take...and whatever we choose, i guess is meant to be, if you understand what i mean.....

hope this gives a light to what you were thinking about....
do what is ok for u!!!!!

sorry to give you a headache from all my writing heheheh
anyhow good luck on ur application and we will see where this journey will take you than :-)

      take care

  23. I'm speechless right now! Haha! Thank you. I mean it:) you're right. If i pass then that would be great. If not, at least I tried. If I lie about my tattoo is there a swimming test? They might fire me if I lied to them only after having find out that I really do have a tattoo. I guess I'll just be honest then. Haha! I'm scared but not to the point that I'm going to back out. Thanks to you, Im more of excited thanks scared I guess.

Yeah, been to Abu dhabi last 2010. My dad's an aircraft engineer there so I get to fly almost every year. I stopped going there when he retired from work though. Abu dhabi's a nice place. Btw, if you don't mind me asking, why did you resign from etihad? If you don'tt want to answer it, it's ok. Do you have kik messanger or whatsapp?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Ralph!

as for the swimming test, when we do the swimming test in the pool we are not allowed to wear swim wear, we only wear t-shirt and long pants ect..or long sleeve shirts or pants...so its possible to hide tattoos of course...but again fallow your heart and choose whats best for u...

cool that ur dad is an aircraft engineer wow, lucky u than you could travel to abu dhabi a lot than...cool job your dad had...
i agree abu dhabi is a very nice place, so charming, i truly miss it...

i actully dont have whatsapp or kik messenger or any of those chat apps´:-)
and no problem at all, im a very open person so im ok discussing about everything :-)

As for why i resigned, well when it comes to traveling and all the destinations and layovers, and the abu dhabi lifestyle and friends...I LOVED IT SOOO MUCH....

but to work as a cabin crew with a strict company, it was very difficult at times...the work load on some flights we had was too much for me to handle...
and i just felt i couldnt handle the pressure/stress, and after a while i stopped liking my job, and didnt wanted to go to work anymore, i think i lost the passion,
once the passion is gone, than why go to work ?
why do something we dont love?
there is nothing worse than go to a work place we dont like anymore, or feel unhappy...
thats why i felt 1 year was enough for me and i got what i wanted....

im truly blessed though for everything etihad gave me...cause its truly a ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE...
etihad do indeed give you EVERYTHING AND MORE...
but it wasnt for me at the end.....
      :-)

that was that.....have a great night dear Ralph :-)
Hope you get the chance to return to abu dhabi and work and get a chance with etihad as well :-)

    2. Do you think this is related to Etihad and work conditions there or it could to an Emirate's cabin crew member as well(for example)???

      Delete
    3. as for the working conditions with emirates, i think its pretty much the same...
      not much of a difference....

but what goes on in emirates in regards of what i have written here about etihad...i cant reply on this...as i never worked for emirates....

the only thing i know is from stories from my friends who works for emirates...and the stories i been told is pretty much the same as etihad when it comes to working conditions...

as for how the training goes in emirates...its a little bit of a difference there....although there is of course a red line that is the same with etihad and emirates when it comes to the training....

      hope this helps a little.....

but i don,t know about the medical test.. because is different with etihad that other companies.. i understood u do the tests in abu dhabi.. so my answer is: what do you do if they reject you after the medical test? at least they pay your flight back? do you know such cases?

Well as for being rejected during the medical exams, i know 2 of my batch mates got sent home during our medical exams,, 1 of them was because they discovered her wrist tattoo....
and the other was lung issues..dont know exactly....but they did get their tickets back home...yeah they did pay for it..
But usually they dont try to send anyone home just like this...it should be a huge issue if they is going to send you home...
cause they paid so much for you to come to this company so they wont send home people just for a small minor issue...
Anyhow good luck during your application home you reach to your goals!!!!

  27. Hi CabinCrewDreamer,

I've got an assessment in a few weeks time (cant say where obviously for private reasons) but it's in Europe. I have researched into Etihad Airways so much and read so many blogs. Im female and 5ft5, i believe I have the "Etihad Look" and I have done nothing but live. breathe and absorb cabin crew living and other people's experience to get an insight as into what to expect.

This is something I have wanted to do pretty much all my life and I hope that when i go for my assessment and interview that they will see the passion that I have.

Do u have any tips for example how I can stand out from the rest. Or to leave a good lasting impression. This is my shot and I am so grateful that I have been invited for the assessment day (I even shed a tear when I got the e-mail).

    Many Thanks

    1. Dear Adannae Okeke!

I totally understand what you mean when you say
´´I have done nothing but live. breathe and absorb cabin crew living and other people's experience to get an insight as into what to expect. ´´
cause i was and am today the same...its crazy,,but this is how it goes when we want something so badly...
I totally can feel the fire in u and i hope the recruiters can too...
and congrats for getting the invite not many do get it...
You know i wish i knew THE SECRET of what it is to be chosen...i wish i knew what they are looking for...or want in a etihad crew...when they select u guys...
      but i have no idea....
But one thing as a tips for u, BE YOURSELF, BUT DONT BE URSELF...confusing right....
be yourself in the sense of showing who you are and that will stand out, but in the same time ´´act´´ as if you are doing a theatric play....
      do i make sense?
But you know regardless of how much we read and learn and have info about these assessment days final interviews...and do your best, speak, walk and look the best...
at the end of the day....
its like a lottery i feel....either your number will be called out or not....
Sorry if i cant find any tips....but i have been to manyyy airline assessment days or final interviews...and still up to this date i have no clue what they are looking for...
i even got the job with etihad...i still have no clue what i had at that time that they picked me..
my absolute personal opinion is,,,its all about destiny...
some might agree and some might not :-)
But dear i wish you the absolute luck!!!
i hope you will make it!!!!
      Take Care :-)

I have a question, you said in a previous post that your friend was sent home because of a wrist tatoo.

    1. And just another question too... When you get a reply 15 days after your application, is the assessment far or near in the future?
      Thank you.

    2. Hello Dear!

Your welcome and im happy to share info,,,and hopefully you share your info to others too,,,like a circle hehehehh

One of my batch mates yes she had a wrist tattoo and she didnt declare this on her assessment day and she had covered with with makeup but unfortunate they found out...and thats why they fired her cause she had lied and that tattoo was on a NO NO place...

But you seem to be a boy cause you are mentioning a long sleeved shirts, and only guys wear long sleeves so im guessing ur a male right?

well than thats a different story i think as u guys wear long sleeved shirts at work...so no one would know anyway...

i may add this that i have worked with tons of male cabin crew who had ´´arm sleeve tattoos´´ or tattoos on their wrist and where ever...i have a male friend a co worker on etihad and he had a similar tattoo as ur describing...

BUT i have no idea if these people declared they had a tattoo or not...

but i dont know if u read about myself: im a girl and i have tons of tattoos, but its not visible while i wore the uniform...i never declared during my assessment day or final interview or even during the medicals in abu dhabi that i had tattoos...
when they did the medical exams in etihad and they did some vaccinations for us, the dr´s did see my tattoos...
of course i was terrified...soo scared....
but no one said anything and i wasnt fired and i was safe...

i dont know if it has to do with the fact my tattoos wasnt visible while wearing the uniform...or if i was lucky not to get caught???????

if i ever would attend a airline assessment again i would 100% declare my tattoos...cause i dont want to risk being sent home...but thats my personal view TODAY..

So im sorry i cant answer this in a accurate way..

as for ur 2nd question..dont know if i understood it correctly...
ur saying u applied to etihad...and 15 days after u got a invitation for a assessment right?
and yet u dont have the dates where u can attend?
cause when we get a invitation to attend a etihad AD, we choose the dates which are available or we wait until the cities or dates we like to attend...
so if you see a blank page on that assessment page...than wait until they fill it with cities and dates...than u book ur spot...

i hope i understood your questions correct...if not explain further to me..thank u....

but at the end of the day regarding the tattoo thingy...fallow ur gut feeling...
      or whats best for u.....

the tattoo question is such a complicated topic...i still dont get the tattoo topic...either we should declare or not... heheheehehe

But someone said he or she was 100% sure etihad/emirates would never turn reject you if they had a tattoo,, as long it was not visible while wearing the uniform...and its ok to have tattoos!!!

so i will leave it at that :-)

      GOOD LUCK.....have a wonderful saturday!!!

      Delete
    3. You answered perfectly thank you so much... I am waiting for the reply to choose my assessment day as you mentioned... And i will only declare my tattoo if they ask me directly if i have one to stay honest...

  30. Dear all,

I have an assessment day in 2 weeks in Abu Dhabi and I wanted to know something about the documents you need to take with you.

Do you need to take a dental x-ray and that vaccination form filled in by doctor to the AD? Or is it for after you pass the AD?

I've been trying to call Etihad for days but nobody ever picks up...

Hope anyone can help me with this questions.

    Thanks very much in advance!

I dont think u should hand those in during ur ad....

    2. Ok thanks a lot! Makes sense.

I'll do my best. Hope the recruiter have a different way of picking the applicants than EK because I'm still surprised about the outcome of the EK assessment day I had last week.
There were around 25 girls from all over the world and 3 African guys. After the first round 23 were sent home including me and the 5 people who went through to the next round were 1 Ethiopian guy who could barely speak English, a girl from Slovakia whose English was also not that good, a Canadian girl with short hair, not wearing any makeup and kind of a tomboy.

All the people who I thought would go through were sent home. Very frustrating to not know the reason for being sent home. But luckily I still have this great chance at Etihad and I'll give it my all!:-) Fingers crossed!

      Thanks for your help!

    1. Heyyy!
As for the assessment to final interview and how long it takes varies from city to city and depending on how many people will be selected for the final interview. It wasnt so many people during my assessment and we weren't many who got chosen for the final interview either, so i had my assessment and final interview on the same day.....
but i think often its 1-2 days, depending on numbers of candidates....
But to be sure i think 3 days would be safe to say to plan your trip if your attending a assessment in another country.
No they dont do swimming test on the assessment!!!
They only do swimming test on the training days in abu dhabi!
Those who work at the airport for etihad as ground staff they dont have the same grade as cabin crews....
But those who work as crew with etihad and after a while they can indeed apply to work at ground instead...so there is tons of choices....
But the salary is lower for the ground staff than the cabin crews....
The way to see who is cabin crew and ground staff at the airport is those who have the ´´golden wings´´ on their uniforms are those who are cabin crews :-)
Anyhow good luck on your assessment!
      Have a nice day :-)

    1. Hi!
No, not at all i dont mind talking about the salary, :-)
im just happy to give out some info... :-)
well on days i had a lot of turnaround and not many layovers my salary was around 1700 euros - 1900euros...
while if i had a lot of layovers in europe i could get around 2000euros - 2300euros....
it all depends where we fly to....
but the salary was great though! :-)

  36. And you said also that crew after a while can apply for the ground staff, do you know how can i apply directy ? what is called this category ? and do you know how much is their salary.

Sorry if i am bothering you..

    1. and as for ground staff, you can either now check etihas career site, and have your eye out for it...or once u start to fly, you will have access to more ways to apply with other jobs within etihad...
but it should be called ground staff - check in check out...or something like this...im not sure though...and sorry i have no idea how much their salary is but i know its less than cabin crew though....
and if you have any more questions its totally ok....i dont mind whatever it is...

i have learned over the years that those who believe and have hop and wont let go of there dream will eventually get it!!!!

BUT congrats on getting the ey invitation....thats a big step forward!!!!

yes they do language tests during the process...i think during assessment or final interview i forgot now ...
but during the time i had my ad/final interview...
those who spoke german, chinese, arabic, spanish...those were the once who did the test...
as they do need at least 1 language speaker on board in whatever country they go to...
i didnt do a test as i dont speak those languages...
they dont do tests on every language though...
But i think one girl told me during that time that it was pretty easy...just basic stuff in the test....
other than this i dont know sorry...
But good luck on ur future assessment and final interview!!!
Keep up this positive attitude of urs which i totally can feel!!!
so happy to meet other positive people in this world such as u!!!!!

  40. Hellow CabinCrewDreamer, Boo with you,

I really thank you so much for what you provide. I went into the assessment day. Unfortunately, I was rejected after english test even though i'm sure that i got full mark because it was too easy. What do you think the reason for rejection? May be due to not having experience as I never worked for any employer. I told them that i'm fresh while registration.

      Hope your good....
Your welcome and thank u for ur kindness....

i dont think they eliminate people only from the results of the english test which many people think they do.
I do think they do eliminate people for regardless whatever it is.....

i know people who completely failed on the English test but still manage to go to final interview ect....
so i dont know about this....

im sorry but i have no idea why u got eliminated,,
but i think its better for u to not think of WHY...it happened ect cause it will make u frustrated....
i know how it is as i have been rejected too 1000 times...
i have no idea what the secret is when they choose people...

some say they love to hire ´´fresh people´´ some say they love to hire people with experience ect ect...
personally i dont believe in this...

i do believe in LUCK DESTINY...

I don't want my experience to put anyone off, it really is a great company with great benefits, the timing is just all wrong for me right now!

    2. I heard that they don't want anyone to leave Abu Dhabi on probation period and go home since its their waste.. People don't know that if they don't complete their probation and resign, won't be charged for their trainig, starter packs or other expenses

      Delete
    3. So you're saying that even if you resign before probation is over, you won't be charged? Also, I have my first rosta and I have an Manchester flight...it's 40mins to my home but seeing as it's only a 16hr layover, I was wondering if you had any sort of insight into etihad policy for people staying in the hotel with you?

    4. @ Anonymous : i heard something like this too, but i dont know 100% how this goes.... :-) i have no clue if they will charge before 6 month or not...

@ Elle BEE::: i dont know about etihad policy about our friends or family staying over at our hotels during our layovers.....
but i had friends and family staying over in various layovers in my room...and i know others did the same too...but we didnt tell anyone..... :-)

dont worry about ur english u will be fine!!
dont let any negative thoughts stop u..or stress u out or just stop u from reaching to the place u want to go to!!!!
to be honest as long as u can read write and speak english in the sense of making conversations and all u will be fine..
the english test during the assessment is very easy,,,,the level of the tests are very basic,,,
as for swimming, when we do the swimming test in abu dhabi, we have life vests on...so it will help...
also if u can practice swimming with some kind of support in a pool before u depart to ur training....than u will be fine....
i do see the determination u have as ur flying to abu dhabi for this assessment...
it shows u want this so much in order to give ur time energy and money into this
but its a investment for our future..!
we have no choice than do this...

    3. about birthday, i know that you need to be 21 when u join the company, so you wont be able to join the company after september 2013, as thats when you turn 21.

but im not sure if people under 21 can do the assessment or final interview...
im not 100% about this, sorry i cant give u a better reply..

also you need to write your birthdate on your application as thats among other information about you makes the application complete, or perhaps your application wont be valid.

but if you wont hear anything from them within few weeks or so, reapply again and write your age.
i hope things will work out for u! good luck! :-)

    5. Hi hope you are good...

Here is what ETIHAD says in there rules about 21 years old:::

      -------------
      Q. Can I apply if I am not 21 years old?
      A. The minimum age to join Etihad as Cabin Crew is 21. If you are within 3 months of your 21st birthday you can apply, but you will not be able to join Etihad until you have reached your 21st birthday
      ---------------

so your birthday is sep 2013, thats when u turn 21, u can than only apply from the month of july 2013...but u can only join the company once u turn 21...
this is what etihad says in there website and thats the rule thats goes...

sorry other than this i wont be able to help u further...about this question :-)

WISH you the best...have a wonderful weekend!

  43. Hello Cabincrewdreamer,

Thanks for all those information that you keep sharing. I got an invitation for assessment scheduled for next month. Here are a few questions that I have in my mind. Will be great if you could guide me...
    1. I'm not that good in swimming. At the time of online application, it was written you must be able to swim with the aid of a floatation device. Now in the invitation mail I received, it is written '25m Unaided in open water without a floatation device'. So that means i need to improve my swimming right. How exactly do they check our swimming skills during assessment & training?
    2. Do Etihad recruits only experienced Cabin Crew? Coz I'm a total fresher as a Cabin Crew. But it's ma dream job just like it was for you. Do they give more weightage to people with experience as a Cabin Crew? Is there any check point in the assessment where they ask you about your experience?
    3. What is the intake after each assessment? How many will get selected(roughly)? Any specific Male to Female ratio?

    Please guide me.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumit

    1. hello dear aravind!!!!
nice to hear u find valuable info in this blog!
makes me happy..so thank u for reading my blog....
yayyy so exciting u have a assessment coming up....knowing u have a big day to attend soon is exciting...and something to look forward to....

so let me see if i can help u reply to ur questions in the best way i can....

      1) well as for swimming, 2 years ago when i did the swimming test during the training in abu dhabi we did have life vests on...so it was totally ok....
im not sure if they changed it now or not....

well the tests we do in the pool is like we jump in the pool with life vests on, and we are in small groups and than they tell us to turn around or bend our legs or hold each other...team work here...

than one by one we swim to this floating boat, than we have to climb up to this floating boat,
than we do various stuff in this floating boat...ect...

but i advice u to learn to swim once u get to the final interview...so u wont need to worry about this...
but its not like we swim back or forth and they check our swimming....
its more of doing group stuff in the pool....

      2) no need to have flying experience, i never flew before, but i got hired...half of my batch had no flying experience...but we all got hired...and recently i know of a girl who got the job with etihad and she never flew before either...so its a mix when they choose people...

during ur final interview they will ask u questions about ur previous work experiences ect...but doesnt matter if u had flying experience or not....

so everyone is welcome to join etihad :-)

3)as for how many get selected....its very different...during my assessment we were around 30 i think....and 9 were selected, 4 boys and 5 girls....to final interview...and from this all, i think 7 people got the job, 6 girls and 1 male...
one of my friend during her assessment they were 63 i think....and 15 made it to the final interview....
      5 boys and 10 girls....than 9 got the job...3 boys and 6 girls....
than we have another of my batchmate who if i remember correct she told me during her assessment they were 43...and 5 made it to the final interview....
      1 boy , 4 girls...and 3 got the job,,,,1 boy and 2 girls....
but in every assessment/ final interview day its different...
so i dont think there is a specific ratio so to speak
but i gave u 3 views....from me and 2 of the people i know of....

but i do think they try to hire at least 1 male in every recruitment day...to get a mix....

      -----

hope these answers helped u....but regardless of how much info i write, i dont think it will be enough...i think u will find out better for urself on ur assessment day.......

so 2013 is coming..and next month is soon here...and GRAB THE CHANCES U GET ARAVIND AND WIN!!!!
GOOD LUCK and hope the best for u next month!!!!!
happy new year soon to come!!!

    2. Dear Cabincrewdreamer,

Hope you started well with 2013.

      Few more questions...pls advice...

I got another job offer in Dubai(not in aviation sector). It's an unlimited contract. I have a pressure from my family & friends to take up that job for the time being as I'm here on a visit visa in UAE now. But at the same time I really dont wanna loose this wonderful Etihad opportunity, whether I get selected or not...coz Etihad might have seen something in me to get shortlisted for their AD & it's ma dream job.Even if I get selected, there can be chances of getting a 6 month ban if i leave the other job I guess. There are opinions I got from some others that if we are going to join a fully Government undertaking firm, the ban will not hinders us. Now here are my questions:-
      1. What is the kind of visa do Etihad provides to it's Cabin Crew? (I was googling it for the last few days, but I dint get any proper answers. So finally I thought of asking you). Whether they have the facility to issue any special visa like the free zone ones for special cases like the one I gonna face in case I get selected?
      2. Can Etihad & it's PRO help a candidate in such a situation for lifting a ban?

I know it's clearly written in their career site, the candidate should be eligible for UAE & GCC visa requirements. But still I'm in doubt. It will be great if you could guide me in this,(if you have come across or heard of any such instances).

      Thanks & Regards,
      Aravind

but i think once our passion dies, we die too...so in order to remain alive in our souls...we need to find new goals that is what i did and found the best goal ever after this...so everything happens for a reason....and im happy i finished in order to find new goals...new doors opens....better doors...

well etihad will treat u great, they will offer u everything almost for free too..so u will be safe with them and very well taken care of.....this is how i felt....

also in life we need to take risks to go somewhere...or achieve something better ....if we never change our situation Leo we will never move!!!!
we will never step up...we will be stuck in the same circle....

u will never know if this job is for u or not if u wont try it....

and yes people can achieve great careers with etihad...from:
cabin crew to cabin senior to cabin manager and later perhaps work in the ey office
etihad do offer everyone opportunities...to grow and develop....

seriously people are in great hands....with etihad...and im not saying this just because i have to..its truly true...

and of course every job has its good and bad things....no job is perfect.....

    1. Hi dear
Im sorry your feeling frustrated about all these things, which i totally understand,,,,
but dont let these ruin ur mood or ur positive energy!!!

as for your eye sight im sorry dear, i have no idea about this....but u wont know this until they do the test in abu dhabi....but u can still go to the AD and there u can ask them about this.....

as for swimming, we have a life vest on when we do the swimming test and its not like u swim like we do in a swimming pool...we do various group training and u swim to a floating boat ect...its very short...the pool is very small too...
but once u reached to final interview u can always take few swimming lessons..and i bet u will be alright!

as for height.....well u wont believe this, but this a TRUE story and hopefully gives u HOPEEE
but i had a very good friend/co worker who was 5´1 and during her assessment she couldnt reach the reach test but the recruiter she was veryyy nice so she passed her anyway...
my friend told me during the times she flew it was little bit challenging for her to close the over head bins on board but it was ok...anyway....

but i think u should 100% go...to the ad ur invited to...
cause u will never know what would happen if u didnt go..
and u would never feel at peace with these questions if u dont go...u will always wonder...

so i think u should go.....dont think what could happen or would...

      GOOD LUCK...WISH U THE BEST........

  47. Hi,
First of all I would like to thank you very much for the info you share on you're blog,It is been very helpful for me.
I'm writing because I'm curios about something:
I apply'ed last month for cabin crew with Etihad and they sent me an invitation for assessment day and I'm curios to tell me if you know how many people they usually invite for an assessment day because I'm thinking the competition it's less that in an open day interview.I'm feeling very confident an I have a positive thinking about this interview, but the only thing that I'm afraid is to spent some money which I don't have yet.The aprox. cost for me it's around 1000 E.
In case I will pass the interview can you tell me how was the "life" in Etihad, especially in Abu Dhabi?
I'm asking because I want to do this so I can save money to pay for my pilot license, and it is quite expensive.
How soon you started the courses for cabin crew, did they give you an allowance for the time you were a student?
For what period of time you signed the first contract and how soon you started work and earn money.
I hope I was not rude with some of the questions, but I need to make a plan.
Thank you in advance for you're time reading and answer!

    1. Hello dear!

Hope ur well, and congratulations for the invitation for the etihad assessment day...well done....
people might think its easy to get a invite but its not...they carefully check peoples cv´s ect...
so its a big thing actually...so well done.....

usually those who attend a AD should be less than 60 people....during my AD we were 30 something i think....

and well done for thinking positive as thats the key...cause when we think positive we attract positive energy around us.. :-)

about the cost...i understand that its not easy to pay such amount for this...i remember i paid this exact amount one time during my emirates open day in Athens, and i didnt even get further than open day...didnt get to ad either...so its a risk of course....

but in my opinion...my very personal opinion...i think its worth TO INVEST IN OUR FUTURE GOALS!!!
if this is something we dream of and truly want with everything we have..than we need to risk things in life....regardless the cost...cause later on in the future THIS WILL BE TOTALLY WORTH IT...

i always see things as a investment for my future....

so ur saying ur going to become a cabin crew than later on become a pilot?

well i think it took me 1 month exact from final interview to my departure to abu dhabi...

and yes they did give us allowance during our time we did the training....

the 6 first months ur on probation, but we sign the contract for 3 years.

and we started to work right after the training..as the training is 7 weeks...we started to work on the same week we graduated or perhaps the week after...

the first month flying we dont earn much as the salary was half training and half flying..but the 2nd month when we flew all the time we earned better....

well life in etihad, i dont know how to paint this picture for u...but i do think its best for u to come and live for urself and get the picture urself....
but i will try to write little bit from my point of view...
well the lifestyle as a crew for me was awesome....i could save half of my salary and spend half...
we have so many discounts on everything....we live such a comfy life...
if we make friends in the batch during the training then thats great as they will become our family there....
it can become lonely sometimes but its ok..its manageable...
there is always something to do...if they dont have it in abu dhabi we used to go to dubai...
we get travel discounts as crew so u can always travel on ur days off just to near places....the 90% discount tickets we crew got was very cheap......
its important to have a hobby too ouside work...so u wouldnt get stuck in the bubble....
well the sun is shining there so its wonderful...... :-)

dont know what else to write....sorry.....
and no i dont mind answering any questions, feel free to ask whatever u want...im happy to give tips or advice...
      or give my opinions....
.dont know if it helps...but hopefully it helps...for something....

anyhow GOOD LUCK on ur assessment...and dont think so much about the amount of money u will spend on this adventure of urs...think of it as a future investment for ur future...for a better future.....
and be proud that ur willing to do this and save money...and do all of this for ur dream...

      wish u the best

      :-)

    1. Good luck on ur AD....hope the best for u!!!

well about business class, if we have a clean record and no sick days and bad stuff in our file,,,than during the time i was with etihad it took us 1 year...to be upgraded....to work in business...
it all depended on our ´´clean file´´

      what does AB -F1 - F2 mean ?
do u mean abnitio ? and from FA to FJ?

well if u mean during the training...u will only get the basic salary which is approx 650euros something.... + we got a starter around 550euros during the training..

      the rest i dont know...sorry....

      have a nice day....

    1. HI!

they dont do any credit checks in our own home country, i know this cause in my country whenever a company does a check we get a paper sent to our home...saying this or that company has done a check on u...and i never got a paper from them regarding etihad....
other than this im sorry i dont know more about the security clearance of etihad...

  50. hello! I really enjoyed reading your blog, you are so inspiring. Very positive! If you don't mind id like to ask regarding application. It has been my dream to be a cabin crew, its just that I have a bridge teeth or false teeth. Do they accept that? :( poor me, got a bad set of teeth. hehe! I hope u can inspire a lot more people who also dreams to be a cabin crew. God bless you!

    1. Hi dear :-)

Thank you for your sweet words,

Dont give up your dream because of your teeth, as for your bridge teeth,,, no one would know u have the bridge teeth, so there is no issues about this...i havnt heard anything about we arnt allowed to have bridge teeth...
there is no reason for u to declare this....
although before u go to abu dhabi you have to do dental x ray i think in ur home country... and bring the blue prints u get from ur dr to etihad in abu dhabi...
as long as ur teeth are healthy.....
but dont worry about this...and dont let this stop u to achieve what u want ok...
so keep on doing what u need to do to get this job and dont think about ur teeth....as i dont find it to be any problem with this....
GOOD LUCK wish u the best and thank u once again for ur kind words..
      GOD BLESS U TOO :-)

      thanks im doing well....
      about etihad or emirates....

well etihad paid us: 1400-2200 euros...
although it all depends...where we fly....ex europe flights pay more...than asian flights...or if we have a lot of turnarounds or layovers...
as for emirates i think its pretty much the same...i dont think the difference is a lot...
but i cant say exactly how much emirates pay as i dont know this exact amount....
as for allowance sorry i cant remember how much they give us..but it varies here too regarding which country u fly to....
      hope this helps a little
      take care...have a beautiful day :-)

  53. Hi! Your blog is very helpful. I recently applied for cabin crew with Etihad and was shortlisted. Do you know if Etihad conducts assessments in the USA? I really want to become apart of Etihad, but I am worried about some of the requirements. I am 156~157cm, around 5'1 to 5'2, do you think I'll be able to pass the reach test? Do the recruiters look at whether the applicant has a straight set of teeth and good vision? I have a front tooth that is pushed backwards and my prescription for glasses is pretty high. Hope to hear from you soon.

congrats on getting the etihad invite for the assessment so cool.......
about ur height...i dont know what to say about this....i have worked with coworkers who has been ur height....some get lucky during there assessment that the recruiters will pass them...but dont worry about this...if this is meant to be at this time u will make it....
as for the good vision...they wont check this during the assessment...
as for good teeth...when u smile it depends of how ur teeth looks..so i cant answer this...
but again i have worked with co workers onboard that didnt have straight teeth...
so its a win win ..loose loose thingy...
      50-50....who knows....
we just have to go and do our best and thats all u can do right....
i wish u all the best and believe in urself that u will make it....

      http://msnbcmedia4.msn.com/j/MSNBC/Components/Photo/_new/110124-emirates-hmed.grid-10x2.jpg

than no this isnt the future uniform of etihad...as this is the f1 ferrari race etihad uniform..the promotion team...wear this only during the f1 ferrari races...while they promote f1 and etihad...

but when i left there was rumors etihad was going to change the uniforms...but this was 2 years ago and i can see that my current coworkers in etihad is still wearing the same uniform like i did back than...so i dont know when this change is coming...but it doesnt seem its coming now....the change i mean....

the video u saw was probably from last year but someone uploaded it this year...as this years f1 ferrari etihad girls looked like this:

  55. Hi cabincrewdreamer,

Thank u so much for all your information. It is great to read :) Hope ur new venture is going well.. I am hoping to gain employment as Cabin Crew with Ethiad and this blog is so helpful.

I just want to ask a few questions that I hope u may be able to help with, apologies if u have answered them already.

I have a tattoo behind my ear, it's a very small music note but it can be seen from behind. Have u heard of anyone that declared a tattoo in the same location but can be covered with make up? (Also this hats with the scarves type uniform would cover it too.

My other question is I have braces, due to get them off in about 12 weeks, should I wait to get them off before aapplying? If I was to be successful in getting a job with them I wouldn't be able to start until at least mid-June. How quick is the recruitment process from when they tell u if u are successful up until they want u to start?

And sorry one final question, I read above how during training u only get paid about 650 euro.. Is that per month and when would u get paid the normal salary? (If this is the case, do most people save before they move to Abu Dhabi?)

Apologies about all the questions and thanks so much :) xoxo

    1. Dear hello
      love ur nickname ´´ findmyself´´
      so poetic in a way....
thank u for ur well wishes dear...
hope the best for all of us.....

i hope u get the chance to become a etihad crew too
as long as u got the passion in u..dont give up....

no worries with questions..i dont mind answering... :-)
its fun for me to answer... :-) if its to any help...im happy...

regarding ur tattoo behind ur ear...i suggest u not declaring this as u wont get the job if u do...
this is a no no tattoo area...not acceptable to the company...but but of course u can cover this with make up and of course u totally have to hide this and not declare this...
it is such a small tattoo im imagining so no need to risk it...

funny though i had a co worker and during her layover she went and had a ink done...behind her neck...and on her wrist..she is and was a law breaker...but she covered it with make up so no issues there....

about ur braces....if ur going to attend a etihad assessment before ur 12 weeks is up..than u cant attend...but of course u can apply whenever u want..cause once u get a invitation u can choose the date urself...
so than u can choose when to attend....

regarding the application process...well it is very mixed...very mixed...for me it took 1 month from final interview to date of join...i applied 1 month before i attended the assessment too....
for my friends ex it took them 2 weeks from final interview to date of join....
for another co worker i know ..it took her 2 months from final interview to date of join...
they will ask u during ur final interview when u can start..
although it various regardless if u tell them u want to ex start within 1 month or 2 months....
so there isnt a specific date i could give u here...

yes during the training we only got the basic salary 650euros...which was per month....we got paid the normal salary once we started to fly...which was after the training...

about saving money before u head to abu dhabi....
i brought with myself around 1200euros...that was all i brought with me to abu dhabi..than the 1 first week of the training etihad gave us all a gift...like a starter around 550 euros...
so this was enough for me..than we started to fly so from than on...we could manage to survive so to speak....
during the training we didnt go out so much cause we had so many exams and we didnt have time..so that was good too so we didnt spend so much....
and my friend i remember they had with them around the same amount to abu dhabi ..perhaps +200euros or minus 200euros...

but no we dont need to bring tons of money....when we start out....

:-) if u have any further question plz ask...no worries for me...
      have a beautiful night...
      take careeeeeeeeee

    2. Thank you very much for ur reply! U really are so efficient....
I can't seem to send my reply as findyourself again! :) It was my 1st time ever posting on this thing! Your name is cool too!

re above... did u mean I should maybe wait until my braces are off before attending an open day? (That's obviously if I am invited of course :) )

OH gosh about hiding tattoo..it is really small but does make up actually work? I would be afraid of my life hiding it all the time then if I forgot one day!
Also is it true that they proper exam the visible parts so might question my make up use or do people wear make up(lots) all the time? another random question..I don't tan...I freckle in the sun! do girls over there wear fake tan?

Oh and regarding the pictures we send with the initial application, what kind of full length pic etc?

and I do feel I am passionate about cc, I love meeting new people and I am genuinely interested in other cultures and of course getting to see the world! Are the majority of fellow crew members nice? Cos I can only imagine it can get a bit I suppose b*tchy? if its all pretty girls working together :) that's the only thing I really wouldn't like as I don't like people talkin about each other

    3. HELLO DEAR....

yes....wait until ur braces are off...than attend a open day or assessment day....

about covering ur tattoo,,,make a routine..before ur flights when u put ur cabin crew make up on...put the tattoo make on too..u will get used to it....
ex with foundation or real tattoo cover up foundation..
i have tons of co workers who have tattoo make up on..to cover it....
although u could always have it removed...but if u love ur tattoo...and its tiny...cover it up....
but it cant be shown or declared...as the place u have it on..is not acceptable to the companies rules...

what now? about proper exam the visible parts? sorry i didnt understand this question? can u repeat it or explain thanks...

but about make up...yes its mandatory to have make up on as a crew...although we can put natural make up on too..so dont need to be tons of make up on...u get used to all of the stuff...i promise u....
i didnt use to wear make up at all...than when i got this job...i got used to it now im addicted to make up lol...even when im not a crew anymore
      funny heheheheh

about tanning...and fake tan..yes i have seen a lot of crew wear fake tan stuff and its ok..as long as its natural looking...

regarding full length pic for the application...it should look something like this, without the scarf around ur neck....and with a SMILE...

      http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_e5oc1sjWeqc/S__qL4FfCLI/AAAAAAAAAAc/imOCtNlzsl4/s1600/0,0,64,15808,344,492,822d47c2.jpg

if u can do it made professional than that would be great if not just have a plain white or grey background..

in all jobs we can find nice or boring co workers right...similar with this job...u can find both crazy and wonderful people to work with hehehehe
some flights when u land and go home..u feel soo happy u wont work with those crew again hehehe
some flights u wish the flight wouldnt end and u could be with that crew forever hehehe

but to be honest...the crew look normal...like u and me..its not like working with a bunch of models if u think that...of course the crew are pretty...but not over the top....like the society think crews look like...

GOOD LUCK and have a beautiful day oxoxo

    4. Thanks again for your quick reply :)

Wearing make up doesn't bother me as I always wear make up.. it's just wearing to cover a tattoo scares me but hey if it works ;) the tan question was cos Id like to wear tan esp if wearing shorts etc on days off.. I think tan makes u look better but wouldn't wanna look silly if no one else wears it iver there haha.

The question I meant was do they like really examine your body during assessments? As in would they closely look at my neck and see the tattoos? Id also be worried if I managed to get the job then on the day of being in the water for training the make up would wash off?
The tattoo, even tho is only a music note, is of v sentiment as I got it done with a mate who also got one but she is no longer here

Oh I forgot to mention I actually flew with Ethiad last May.. I was staying in Abu Dhabi... Loved it! :)

Do you think it is possible to save a bit when living and working over there?

Thanks so much for all your help xoxo

      Delete
    5. Hello there :-)

Oh no they dont examine ur body during ur assessment....i think qatar airways do this...thats what i heard...anyway....
but no...etihad doesnt check anything like this...thank god....

as for ur tattoo being washed away in the water...there is water resistant foundation u could put...and we will not be wearing bikinis during the swim test....it will be like yoga pants and t-shirt or long sleeved t-shirt...

because this tattoo means so much to u...and i bet its not so big....dont remove it....just do ur best to find the best tattoo make up and stuff...ask around the stores...they have these stuff....
its a lot of crew including myself who have tattoos....we just hide them.....

lovely that u enjoyed abu dhabi and flew with etihad....cool u got a positive view from that....

and yes its absolutely possible to save money...i did that..lie spent half of the salary and save half....we get great money from flying so its of course possible....

wish u the best dear and good luck on ur adventures/journey....

Great job u did here!! Really helpful ;)

I was chosen between 700 people 3 days ago at an Emirates open day but I could't make it through a final interview because I can only reach up to 211cm on tip toes....so I was cut!
Do you think I have a chance with Etihad?? Does it often have recruitment days and how will I know? What about the 210? Is it on tip toes or not?
    Thank U, in advance..!

    2. Heyyy!

      Thank u :-)

and i have to say wow...being chosen of 700 people is insane.....LUCKY U...or u have some amazing LUCK there...or whatever it is....

but i have to ask u ...how tall are u?

if u check etihad career website it should say what cities or countries they go to right...
      if they dont write it...
u can apply...and if u get a invite from etihad...than u choose urself the cities they go to...and when u want to go to...u book ur slot...ect.....

about ek and ey..reach test...im 160cm...and i could reach both 212cm, 210cm....with ek and ey....
and yes the finger has to touch over the 210-212cm line....and on tip toes...

but i have to say....i have coworkers in etihad who is shorter than me...and is flying.....they were shorter than the requirements too that etihad stated...

so dont let this stop u.....

      apply for etihad! GOOD LUCK....

      :-)

    3. Thanks for your reply!
I am 1.59... The thing is, I can reach up to 211 in the morning but after a while I only reach up to 2.10.. but as I can see I cannot pass my finger over the line, I think.. :(
I don't know what to do.. I reaaallllllyyyy want this job as it is a dream but I don't wanna risk again especially If i Have to go to another country for an interview...
Are there really girls shorter than you in Etihad??
Do you know any standard ways how I can gain 1-2cm height in order to be completely sure about that..????

      Delete
    4. well than ur 1cm shorter than me....u should be able to reach 210 and 211!!!!
u know what u need to do....do a lot of stretching practice at home....
i used to do that too before...

do u know what i used to do...i used to mark 210 + 211 om my wall and i think 3 weeks before my assessment for etihad i would almost every night try to reach this
      every night i did this....
so my body got used to it and its a stretching practice here...so i strongly advice u to do this too
      or something that involves stretching....
but u just need to warm up ur body......

like a ballerina stand on ur tip toes :-)

also one more thing...if u never takes risks in life u will never know....
if u never do this again u will always think WHAT IF...
u never tried for etihad right...
so wait until they come to a close country near u....
and find the cheapest hostels and flight and do it...
      whenever ur ready....
this is ur dream...dont let it go because of this....
i remember i used to buy cheap bus tickets or flights or hostels or whatever to attend to various countries and cities....
cause nothing would stop me from winning this...
it took me 3 years to achieve this...but it was worth it!

but i live in europe so its easy for me to travel around...i understand those who doesnt live in europe..so its more difficult for them to attend these days for etihad or ek....

oh my god there is tons of girls shorter than me AND YOU...my very good friend...was 157cm...
and i even know a batch mate of mine who was 156 cm she used to work for emirates and resigned and came to etihad....

so dont let these worries get to u ok....
dont let these doubts take this dream away from u

so try to google stretching practice ways....this is a great thing to do...
cause ur not that short dear.....

      u will make it...
      so dont give up ok!!!

GOOD LUCK AND WISH U THE BEST ON UR FUTURE ADVENTURES...
      :-)

    5. You 're right..!! I shouldn't give up! Thank u for your encouraging words... :) I've never applied forEtihad before...In fact, with Emirates it was the first time I've ever applied for any airline company.... So, I will keep on trying until I get in your team ;)
I will definitely try streching ex. but I'm not sure how much they could help..
Can I ask you another question? Do the photos we send in our application need to be professional? I mean, would it be better If they were?

      Delete
    6. Yes do apply and try this until u get this...if this is something that truly makes ur hart beat.....

no the pics u guys send for the application doesnt have to be professionally done...but YES it will help if they are...it would be so much better if they were.....

if u think of it...psychologically it is much more pleasant to see a picture professionally made than with a normal camera or normal background...i do think the professionalyl made pics stick more in our memories...or the recruiters in that case...

i did mine professionally done...and i used those pics for years for job applications and etihad ect...i got etihad with those pics too...so i do think its worth it...i found a very cheap photo studio and had it done there....

GOOD LUCK WISH U THE BEST + dont worry or focus too much about ur height..as it will make u more stressed.....everything will be ok... :-)

    7. Thanks a lot!! You're so sweet. :)

May I ask why you do not work for Ey anymore? Did you not like it there? I am asking because If I apply and get an invitation I will probably have to travel to another country for an assessment... and I would really like to know If it is worth it... :/

      Delete
    8. yesss it is totally worth it to work for etihad...they give u all and even more...
i dont regret one second i joined them...cause they do give us so much.....
but i actually left because of i lost the passion to be a cc...and i wasnt happy doing that job anymore....
but we all are different...and every job has its ups and downs....
u have to go and try for urself...
as for the country or the lifestyle those thins i lovedddddd and still love....
it was only the job stuff.....that killed my passion.....

but it is totally worth it...its a once in a lifetime experience.....so i totally think u should do it..if this is ur dream :-)

      Delete
    9. I see.... :) Ok, then... I'll do my effort and I hope it will have a happy ending (God pleaaaase!!)....!!!!! If I ever get an invitation from Ey, I'll inform you If u want.. ;)

    11. Dear cabincrewdreamer,
I received my invitation today and I'm looking forward to my attendance to one of their assessments...!!!
so, could u please help me with this part of the email...??

"6. Two work related service letters including the Contact Details of Referees (their names, position titles, telephone numbers and work emails). The service letters have to be issued by your current or previous employers and need to be printed on official letterhead."

What should my employers include in their service letters except for Their names, tel, eosition..etc..?? Any clue?

    12. Hellooooo there...
      hope ur goood...
      yayyy about ur invite.....
      so cool....
      1st step done...
      u got it....
now lets move on to step 2 soon ur assessment...

as for the service letters and stuff like this....

here is few sample letters u can take a look at::::::::

      http://jobsearch.about.com/od/referenceletters/a/employeeref3.htm

      http://jobsearch.about.com/cs/referenceletters/a/empreference.htm

      http://www.businessballs.com/referencesletterssamples.htm

      good luck!!!
and get ready!! for a adventure soon :-)

      Delete
    13. HEYYYYY!!! Thank u, again!!!! I'll take a look at them later ;)
Do they invite every person who applies online....?? If they do, how is it possible at your assessment day to be only 30ppl??
I'm trying to get ready but I don't know what to do with the assessment place.. Should I wait and see if there will be something closer to my country in April-May..? What d u think? Otherwise I have to travel by aeroplane which is not cheap... :/

      Delete
    14. Hiii.....

no they dont invite whoever.....if this was the case everyone would get a invite...and why have a invite system then....they only choose those with good cv+s and potential candidates....for future ey cc´s....
i know few friends of mine who applied...2-3 times to etihad but didnt get a invite still.....
i heard someone say they have people screen peoples cv´s before they send out invites...
so BE HAPPY AND PROUD u got a invite.....its totally cool....

regarding ur choice of country and place for the assessment......do u live in europe?
if u do...u got ryanair..which is cheap...than u can stay at a cheap hostel too....i have done this tons of times....in the past.....
      or u could go by bus..if u saw a place 4-5hours away from u..
i did this once too...i took the bus 4hours....to this country near me....

just fallow ur heart....if u feel u cant make it economically than wait until they come to ur country...
if u feel u could find cheap flights/hostels/hotels/buses...than go for that.....

but good luck and i hope u find a slot soon...so u can do this.....
      take care

      Delete
    15. I wanna thank u a million times for ur patience and for answering my questions each time... :)) God bless u!

I feel better now that I know they don't send invitation to everyone..and a bit lucky..:)

As for the available slots, they had something that fit me but they changed it this morning..so it doesn't exist anymore in the "BOOK" page.. I can still see it in the carrers section on their homepage, though... I'm a bit confused..
      Thank u, again...

      Delete
    16. God bless you too dear...and ur welcome....seriously it warms my heart every time i get a small chance to help something/someone :-)

And indeed ur lucky :-) and you should be so happy u got this invite..not everyone get one :-)

But hang in there and as soon as u see a slot book it...if u feel its right for u...and u can make it....
but dont check the career website for cities ect..as the ´´SLOT BOOKING SYSTEM´´ is the official system....
when it comes to book slots....
even if u booked a slot,,,,and they cancel it...they would contact u via email....

anyhow have a great night dear...and good luck :-)
      be safe

  57. Dear Cabincrewdreamer, I am one of many who want to thank you for your help you are doing here!!! I understand Etihad accepting people like you. I am attending AD in London in 3 weeeks and I am very nervous. I wonder what kind of people are invited to ADs - if they are all intelligent and fabulous it must be very difficult to be one of those accepted. I wish I could make it. Thank you again (I will be thinking of your words at my AD) :-) Have a lovely 2013! Len

    1. Hello lovely person!!!!

      awww thank u so much....
thank god i dont work at etihad any longer other wise i would be fired a long time ago if i kept writing these stuff hehehhe
or kept writing in this blog about etihad heheheh
if they would find out who i was i mean...but thankfully im anonymous hehehehe

also etihad dont choose people like me....etihad choose all sorts of people dear...
of all sorts.....so dont think its ´´ a special ´´ kind of people or personalities they choose....

it can be me...it can be u...it can be who the hell standing next to us...im serious.....heheheeh
there is no specific typical etihad girl......

its all about LUCK/DESTINY i believe...

so cool ur attending etihad AD in 3 weeks....will be super fun....
so dont be worried....although i know we are humans and cant help being worried...or nervous....
but try to be urself and not let ur emotions take over....
cause i know how it is when we are nervous and those emotions ruin our chances to land a job......

this of this as a fun event... :-)

      ....etihad chose whoever....
i have flown with people who wasnt so fabulous at all,,,i have flown with people who didnt even have a high school grade but faked it on there cv....i have flown with people who wasnt so nice at all but played the part during the ad/final interview very well..i have flown with very negative mean mean people....
that i wondered HOW THE HELL were they hired?
when there is wonderful souls out there who wish to get this job.....

i have even flown with crew that didnt even wanted the job in the first place...but got it out of luck ....
i have flown with all kind of people dear....
there is no specific person they choose....

it is all a game...all a lottery......its being in the right place on the right time.....i think.....

i have known people with highest law and doctor degrees not getting this job...i have seen people never worked in there lives but faking there cv´s GETTING this job...

there is no secret to this.... u see....

well the secret in my opinion is the luck/destiny thing i mentioned before....

its all a lottery....we are either in this game..knowing we might loose or win....

..as i have done 1000 assessments and final interviews...with 100 airlines....
and seeing around me on board what kind of crew they hired and some was the right choice some NOT...

so its all about our LUCK/DESTINY i think....
      this is my personal opinion...

u will make it dear...just believe in urself...and not look at others what they have or dont have...
...and go in there in 3 weeks feeling with all ur heart u got the job already...imagine urself getting the job....dont have any doubts....
cause ur SO MUCH BETTER OR EQUAL to the next person to get this job!!!!!
      u deserve a chance too u know....

      so think positive!!!!!!!!!!
      think positive.....

      u have a wonderful 2013 too...
and tomorrow we enter a new month so smile dear...
      a new chapter is ahead.....

wish u all the best from the bottom of my heart

      GOOD LUCKKKKK

  58. Oh my God!!!!!! You are a superspecial person! I am so grateful reading your answer and I feel moved...What to say? You are absolutely right. It is all about some luck or destiny. You never know why some people are chosen and some not. The only thing that does not satisfy me is that it is my first AD in my life. As many people have attended so many ADs and weren´t accepted. For me this interview will cost an arm and leg so I cannot imagine having more trips like this :-)
BTW I think Etihad is definitely reading your posts here :-) Or somebody from there and they are very proud of you. You are bringing some special happiness and peace here. I must say that your life makes sense. By doing these small helps to others we make our life and energies better. I believe in destiny. Many unbelievable things have happened in my life, you would not believe me :D And this is just a destiny....we never know. I will definitely act naturally and will try to be confident and happy. And then I will see if they need people like me. It is a destiny and everything has some reason.
I hope you are now happy in a different company and living a happy life. You never know what happens next. Stay positive dear (the most beautiful anonymous person I have ever met) :-) And thank you SO MUCH again!Len.

      god bless uuuu

wow so this is the very first AD in ur life....well welcome to the club of headache and fun heheheehehe
      AND waiting game...
cause once u get this job...all u will do is to wait
      heheheeheh

but i know few people who got this on their FIRST try too..so u never know...so please update me after 3 weeks...would love to hear if u passed or not....

i understand this trip will be extremely expensive for u
only if the recruiters would see the fire in u and the dedication u have for this job that ur willing to pay so much to travel to try ur chance.....
i wish i could be the recruiter so i could give u the job right here and now... :-)

there is people out there who doesnt care of this job and just try it out just for fun and get this job..and still doesnt like the job doing it...and complains all the time...
yes there is crew like this...who got this job like this

so i totally wish u would get this job....

heheh so u think etihad is reading these stuff?
if they do...they might think they got free advertisement for their company...ME...
heeheheh who promote etihad to be the best airline in the entire world...
      lol jokinggggg

but u know dont say never...if ur first try wont work out who knows..perhaps in the future u can try it out again...or they might come to ur country so u dont need to travel again...
but lets not think about this option...

AS UR GONNA TAKE IT HOME IN 3 WEEK....and win this!!!

i believe in destiny too and i do believe if we do good in life we get good back....
but i do believe the things we do in life opens other doors for other things in life....

i will remain positive too...as i have new goals in life i would loveeee to achieve so im trying to be patience and wait for my turn too......but thank u for ur positive words and encouraging words....

ur sooo sweet...and THANK U for being such a incredible soul.....

god bless u and good luck in 3 weeks....

    2. Hello dear, thank you for your amazing answer again :-)I absolutely agree with you - some get it now and for nothing and some try 100 times to reach it and even though they really want they cannot. It is a strange thing, but life goes like this (the same question is why some people die young and some not :D) Nobody will ever answer, life does not seem to be fair, but it only looks like that. Every success and every failure has a new start. So one think is for sure - a new start :D If it is negative or positive it is up to us. There are always some clues and signs that lead you to your destiny. I remember a year ago - I really wanted to travel the world by the airplane, but to travel by air is very expensive (if you want to see the whole world haha). And one day, I was browsing some pages when I saw a competition: Win the free air-tickets for one year and travel the world. haha. I said it was the right thing for me. I wrote some essay and send it to them with other 50000 people. I knew I would never win, but I said I had to try it, coz it was a sign :D In a month I had a "golden call" that I was a winner and could fly one year for free haha!!!! So - out of 50 000 people who desperately wanted to win - they chose me who did not care and did not believe - how come? :D But I was lucky I could spend last year flying - I was in the sky all the time :-) I hope my sky journey will not end.
Thank you for crossing your fingers for me - I am very pleased that you are such an amazing girl. And hello Etihad - see what special girl you had in your team - and please try to chose nice people only! They deserve it.
Dear, I will definitely let you know on 20 or 21th when I am coming back.
Until this time - good luck with your new career and believe - try hard or not - you will definitely get it if it is here for you! Hugs, L.

and u didnt care to win or thoughts u would win...interesting how u got that....
very interesting....but this is where ur destiny comes in no...it was meant to be for u...even if u believed it or not.....

´´try hard or not - you will definitely get it if it is here for you!´´

again i love these words of urs...so trueeeeeeeeeeee

  59. Dear Cabincrewdreamer,

I enjoyed reading all these stories and all these comments and your experiences sharing with everyone, even the others i enjoyed reading all all all of the BLOG.
I am personally concerned by Etihad, i have been selected in an open day assessment and been through all that process and got the FI and even accepted...i got all the documents to fill (which i already did) and sent them, i gave my reference email to contact and the last email i got from them is " they will contact my references shortly" around 4 days ago...but no details and nothing more...the thing is, to reach this point we spent almost 2 months !! so i wanted to know, do they really take this much time ?? and if once you are accepted in a course, how long it takes to let you know that you need to come ??? and thnx

      wohoooooooooo
for coming SO FAR with etihad...well done....
i love hearing good news from people....

well dont worry dear..these middle eastern companies specially ey and ek...they have so much on there hands..so many papers so deal with and process to get through and get approved..background checks and they need to be approved...they send papers here..a lot of people have to sign this and that...and u know in the middle east...
      when they say 1 week..its 1 month...
      heheheheh

and we will remain with white hair....

no really it do take a long time...but it varies..some got the golden call in 10 days after that email...some got it after 2 weeks..some after 3 days....
who knows really...as they are so overloaded with work i heard....

i understand its frustrating to wait..as it already been 2 months with all these...

but remember it all will be worth it...the wait will be worth it....at the end...

and when they do call u for ur date of join it can be again...2 weeks..3 days...1 week....

who knows really...its a headache i know...but all u can do is just sit back and let ur hair become even whiter heheheh
no really....it is frustrating...but there isnt much u can do than wait.....

but good luck and congrats again for coming so far...
      well done...
its special to be chosen among so many
so try to enjoy the victory from being chosen by so many!!

good luck and hope the process will go faster....

    3. i see so u already got ur golden call?
      right...
but they have to call to let u know about the date of join...so yes they will call again...
the thing is..i got 1 successful email...than 1 golden call after that...letting me know my date of join...than they called again to confirm the dates for the training ect...that was it...
and the rest was via email....the info and papers ect...
but even if u went to a trip...if they did call u and u would see its a missed call...u can call them up..as it will be with a 00971 number...
u know who ur coordinator is? if u know the contact will be via him or her....
but if u already got ur golden call...the first call...
than no need to worry....about it....
the importance was the 1st call..

  60. Hi:)

I must say, as so many did before me, that you're idoing an amazing job with your blog here. Since l've started looking into Etihad few days ago, l've gethered planty of usefull information and l must say that your blog is at the top of my sources. So thank you for halping me complete the picture:)
I have two questions and l would be really gratefull lf you could answer them
1.) I'll be 31 this month. Although 21 is mantioned as the down age limit, l would like to know, in practice can women in their early 30es get this job. I heared that it is not a problem but l would like for someone who has worked there to confirm that, if it's true.
2.) Little trickier;) although l've been attracted to this career for a long time, l was wondering (since money is always one of the factors) are there women in Etihad working as flight attendants, who like their job but who also have a future plan in some different fields and just work hard for a few years and save money for that. I guess what l want to ask you, have you known, in your time spent there people who were seriously saving money for some other ventures later on.
Thank you again for doing what you do:)

    1. Good day dear, good night, good morning, good afternoon to u dear,,,,wherever u may be or what ur zipcode may be :-)

aww ur welcome, im happy for the help i could give..and u could find valuable of some sort....
i hope the picture u have of etihad and being a cabin crew is positive.... :-)

first happy birthday in advanced for soon becoming 31....wish u a great month... :-)

as for being 30+ and working as a crew for etihad...YES YES YES...im close to ur age too...and during the time i got this job...i had 3 batchmates who was between 30-33 years old...and they got this job being that age....
      its totally not a problem....
i even once flew with a girl from usa...who was 37 years old...but didnt look 37 at all...she looked like 27 or something heheheeh

so know ur age is not a obstacle... :-)

as for woman working for etihad and having future plans...in different fields...and wanting to save money ect....
YES YES YES...i even had friends who was seriously being saving money every month...they were so good at it...they had the business mind too...one of my coworkers for example she used to save money cause she wanted to buy a spa in her own home country..and run that..so she worked towards that...
another coworker i flew with were saving money....when i resigned she resigned around the same time...she rented a apartment in dubai and now working and owning a little bakery shop.....in dubai...
i have had friends who saved money for a car and apartment back at home....or their own businesses....or whatever they wanted...
so YES it is achievable...and many cabin crews in etihad does so too....
if we have the mind for it...its of course doable....

than we have the rest who partied and shopped away the money too heheheeh
but this is the same in every job field u go to....

ex myself....the salary we got...i used to save half and spend half....i could do a lot of things and enjoy life and ect...still saving too....although the first months was little bit difficult to save money....but after 3 months i think it was getting better.......

if u have anything else on ur mind...let me know if i can help answer....

      wish u a beautiful day.... :-)

    2. Hey there cabincrewdreamer:)

      THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
You have answerd my questions a million times better then l would've hoped for. l can't begin to explain what it means to read what you wrote:)

l have to truble you for one more thing and that is the only thing that l don't quite have crystal clear yet.

l realise a lot of time organisation revolves around schedual you have, flight duration, etc. but on how much free time can you really count?

To avoid any misunderstanding, l think that a cabin crew job is anything but easy l just can't get a full grasp on the amount of free one has on that job.

My problem, if you can call it that, is that l have finished art college and lf l would be in a position where l couldn't find the time over the period of two years to draw and paint at least a little l think it would really kinda spoil the whole thing for me:( That would really make me sad because l have working experience in customer service and l really have great people skills. l am sort of hoping that lf l would be lucky enough to get the job l would still have the time for the things l find fulfilling. l'm thinkinig, if people can find time to shop and have fun, l can certanly find time for painting in my own time.

lf l can make any sense out of what's troubling me:(

l know that this probably sounds ridicilous but there must be someone out there who has similar dillema. l would really appreciate to hear if you have any thoughts on this:)

Once again l want to say big thanks to you for taking time to answer me. Really appreciate it:)Etihad should pay you big time. You're sort of Etihad second hand recruiter ;)

    3. Dear sandra :-)
      Hop ur good....

ur sooo welcome dear...happy to help....

about our free time...working as a crew...is not like a 9-5 job as u know.. we actually get the best schedules ever....well with etihad u do....
i never had a job where i had so many days off here and there....
usually in europe we get days off sat-sun right...
ex of a roster u would get...
      u would work monday tuesday..being off wed-thurs...working friday...being off saturday...working sun-monday...ect ect
it could rotate all the time...
ex if u had ultra long flights to ex australia...u would always get 2 days off before the flight and 2 days after...
if u had turnarounds...the flights would be total of 8hours..including briefing and being at that countries airport...for a while before heading back...

u could even get 4 days off in a row just like this in ur roster.....
i never ever worked 6 days in a row....as flying u always have to rest between flights...

what im trying to say is u will have time for ur art....
being a cc with etihad u truly get time for ur personal life too....

i cant speak for other airlines...but with etihad u do...

and no it isnt a silly question...we all have different hobbies and things we want to do...and yes u will have a personal life outside flying....

lol about me being etihads 2:nd hand recruiter....
i actually applied for this position...once...didnt get it....lol....not with etihad though :-)

wish u a lovely week dear sandra...and if u have any more questions later on...let me know...
      take care hugssss

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

p.s.shame about Etihad not giving you the position. To say that you are wonderfull, patient and kind would be an understatment! Their major loss.

      Take care as well

  62. Dear and lovely Cabin Crew Dreamer - I have one more question about how to dress for the interview. I have heard about business suit and white blouse or shirt. I look terrible in a white blouse or shirt and I have bought a black skirt, black top and I will also wear a brown suede suit (lady jacket). It looks smart and nice, but it is not white and I am worried about these colours (brown and black). Do you think they might have a problem or were people wearing various clothes? Thank you so much for your answer again. Have a lovely day***

so now that u like to wear all black.....being all black is chic too...
they wont have a issue with people wearing various attire..but it should be within the limits of what i posted above the links....
      wish u the best...
      take care :-)

    2. Hello, thank you very much for getting back to be so early. I will change my special brown haha, I think. You are right, the black and white attire looks much better and I do not want to have a nickname - That strange girl in a brown jacket. Thank you very much again - you are very helpful. Take care.

  63. hello!! i had on 6th february interview and unfortunately i not pass.It was a lot of people more then 100 and the test that they give to us not show who is able to cabin crew.we was in group (three)and we need to speak about someone from group. The recruters said not to much, becouse we was a lot ,and 100 person just stand up and say: My name is Hassan,my reg.number 34,i would like to introduce my new friend Fred from UK,with reg.number 45 and some good words about him, after we write the english test which was very easy. After this they send home 70-80% of us home.It was unprofesional, some defects with projector.they cant understand who are good for cabin crew only from these test and a lot of person are more better than those who have passed. Not corectly ,becouse the people came special for interview from Canada ,Spain, Denmark with expirience in Cabin crew and they go home.for me it was a bad expirience, losing the time, money and for what?for lottery becouse its a really lottery,no matters what you can.Maybe it was to much people and of course its really hard to menage and to choose, but its a mistake of recruting team,to make lake this

im sorry u didnt make it to the finals...
i think what ur describing is for emirates recruitment process right..not etihad?
well u know its a lottery...and no its not waste of money time...as ur doing this for ur future!!
      ur investing in ur future..
      than its not a waste...
i dont know what country u attended this...but there are actually countries that people shouldnt attend...as its insane..and 1000 people will show up.....
      and its not worth it...
i actually recommend, Scandinavian countries for open days
as not so many people attend....
but i also recommend people to register for assessment days instead...of a open day..specially if people are flying to countries.....
but dont worry hassan....try to remain positive and keep doing this until u get this IF U TRULY WITH ALL UR HEART WANT THIS....
      good luck!!!!!!

  67. Hi dear, thank you sooo much for your quick answer. I knew about this (bringing it later) but when I got my invitation email there were about 4 documents and they said to bring it all completed to the AD. So I was a bit surprised. Finally I completed everything but not vaccination and xray of my teeth. The funny thing is that they say there mustn´t be any teeth missing!!! Haha, I have one pulled out at the back it is not visible, but it looks like a good time to have it fixed...eh! Thank you for fingers crossed I will let you know how it went. Thank you again for your great help, lovely girl!!!xxx

    1. Hi!

There is tons of papers that need to be completed before ur ad,,,,but regarding xray and teeth, i think this can be done later...
as for the no teeth missing...if u have the opportunity to get this fixed why not fix it...
so u dont need to be worried about anything...
so today is ur day for the AD....
      good luckkkk
hope u return home with good news!!!!

  68. Hi,
I review your blog in search for additional info. about the AD at Etihad.
I have to thank you again for your work and for your kindness, answering all the questions it turn out to be very helpful for me and for others.
I managed to book an interview on 12 mar. near my home town and I am very glad about that.
I am preparing myself for this interview, searching for questions and answers and how to deal with this.
Searching your blog again I read something about an x-ray for teeth and started to get a little bit worry about that because I have 2 "black holes" in the upper part and some minor problems in the lower part :(. I will try to get them fix until the interview but I don't know if I can.
I have some questions about this:
They are asking about the dental x ray after they call you to tell you that you are the lucky one?
I know that they are demanding a medical exam that probably involves this x-ray too.
Do you have any idea if the dental x ray could be a major factor regarding your medical fitness?
I think this is my only problem regarding any medical exams for me.I know they are very strict about your appearance but I could work them out.
I know that maybe you don't have all the answers... but I do know that you definitely have a way inspiring me and helping morally trough your answers :)
I am very stressed about this interview, but I try to keep my moral high and I have great confidence that I will succeed, actually I picture my self working there.
I hope that I will get trough with this and I will became a CC at etihad.
Thank you very much for your help so far and for the time you took reading my post!

      Hope ur good....
so happy u found some valuable info here :-)
GOOD LUCK ON 12TH OF MARCH..will be a fun day :-)
      a day u will never forget i bet.... :-)

well done for preparing urself for the ad...as its better to be ready....
about the xray....for teeth...during the time i did the assessment...we didnt need to bring the xray for teeth...
as we could bring it down to abu dhabi and give it to them during our medical day.....
i believe u dont need to bring the xray with u to the ad...
or this might have changed? i dont know...
but i doubt regardless airline u dont need to bring any teeth xray for the assessment...on final interview u might but not for the ad....
i mean u will probably get this done...before ur date of join once u get this job..than do a xray of ur teeth than bring it down with u to abu dhabi....this is what i believe happens....
it doesnt make sense to bring the xray for teeth during assessment when u havnt even gotten the job....

its amazing that u already can see urself working there....and keep up ur positive attitude and remain positive...dont worry or stress ok..its not good for us to be stressed...just have fun on 12th and pretend this is just a fun adventure nothing else hehehehe ok!

GOOD LUCK AND FINGERS CROSSED FOR U....u will win this...if u truly deeply madly want this with all ur heart...

  69. Thank you very much for your quick answer!
I know that is not a practice for them to bring the x ray on AD.I was curios if they are asking your x ray after you get the "golden call" or before that ( when you do your medical exam).
I appreciate that you keep your fingers cross for me and for the nice thoughts :)
I hope that I will succeed on 12th.
I will keep you up to date :)

    1. Hi dear...
      ur welcome...
i will respond to both of ur messages here...
lucky u though cause this is so exciting..to be able to experience and do a assessment with ek or ey....
so i hope u enjoy it..regardless of what....

When they asked me this question during my final interview....´´what challenges would i face as a cc´´

i answered...´´ i think one of the biggest challenges cc´s would face would be cultural and language barriers, onboard...even if this would be a challenge for a crew, i think i would overcome this and deal with this cause i have worked abroad before handled various nationalities and i used to work with different nationalities too, so i dont mind as we grow and learn from cultures and languages barriers´´´´

i think i said something along those lines...im not sure if this was a 100% accurate answer to say....but i got the job i guess this was a ok answer...dont know though :-)
another person might agree or disagree...but this is what i said... :-)

today...if someone would ask me this..again...i would answer similar...culture, language.....
i cant think of anything else....
of course there is tons of challenges for crew....but we cant say that in a interview....

if there is anything else let me know...i dont mind to help out....
      good luck........and take care :-)

  71. Hi All - just a little feedback from my AD in London. There were recruiters from Belarus and Hungary. About 150 people attended the AD. People were lovely and intelligent. I was very surprised meeting a Brazil university teacher who wanted to be a CC. Other people were smiley, communicative and beautiful. Such a competition I said to myself and wondered how the recruiters can choose from such lovely people. The introduction - introducing each other - it was good coz nobody made it wrong. People were open, funny and great. I was surprised again. Then the English tests - a piece of cake. Such funny questions : The place leaves at 8 am. - What time does the plane leave? - The correct answer is: 8 am. Ehm, ehm...stupid test, really. Most people had to make it haha. Then questions about Abu Dhabi - I answered all of them as the only one. I knew all the Sheiks etc. I studied really hard to know all numbers and things. For nothing. Time for eliminations - 70% sent home immediately. Finally they chose girls that did not say anything, were laughing all the time, but I must say they were extremely beautiful. Looked like angels, special look, really. And they made it to finals. I was soooo sad that they did not take us into consideration and chose the most beautiful ones only. That was my AD - maybe others are different. I spent soo much money and time attending the interview and will never do again. Just because I did everything possible. Good luck everybody and good nerves. Etihad is not easy.

such a interesting experience u had with etihad AD...thanks for sharing...
but can i ask u why u mentioned u never want to do this again?
u dont want to become a etihad cc?
did u know i spent 3 years and over 1000 rejections before i got this job?
i did it all because i wanted this so badly and this was my dream....
thats why i wonder,,,if u want this why give up?????
the wait and all the struggle will be worth it...only if u want this....
also its not about what u think u did or didnt....its all about LUCK in my opinion...its all a lottery....
dont let this give u bad thoughts about this..
do it again if u want this....
we never know what will happen on these days.....
anyhow wanted to thank u for sharing ur day with us....cool...
      wish u a wonderful day...

  72. Hi,
Thank you for you're answer about the challenges question!
It is very helpful.I'm in search of different types of questions so I can make an idea about how will I answer it if I had the chance.

This is for the person who was kind enough to share with us her/his experience:
"Then questions about Abu Dhabi - I answered all of them as the only one. I knew all the Sheiks etc."

Can you be more specific about this questions?
    Thank you!

  73. Dear and always positive CC Dreamer :-) You are right, chasing your dream is a good thing and I always do it. In this case I really did not feel it was a lottery (just one AD experience:-) I did my best there, I could not do more, I was like a nerd answering all their questions haha. If they don´t want you for some reason, they will probably don´t want you in the future for the same reason. There were girls being rejected all the time. If I were a high class model and did not know anything they would accept me at this AD. I know it...eh! I do not understand how you could attend 1000 interviews within 3 years. It sounds incredible, impossible, but it is also very amazing that you were sooo brave to do it. I finally spent about 500 pounds for the 3 day trip to London and I cannot imagine spending more. I have no problem with trying, but as they don´t have many interviews in your country, you need to travel, take unpaid holiday and pay the expenses. I cannot do this often. I don´t earn so much. This cost me my holiday :-( So I dunno....1000 rejections...I still cannot believe it! You are just great and brave!!! :-*

    1. dear...
i understand u cant attend AD´s/ OD´s that often,,, because of the cost ect...
during the year i tried this...i tried to save up...and attend 1 ad or open day per 6 months....felt like 1000 hehehe
      they rejected me..so what....that wouldnt bring me down...so i attended another one...after 6 months...
ohh dear dont think negative...like if they didnt wanted u now they would never want u...this is not the case...
and they would only choose models..
im no model..nor is 85% of the crew and batchmates i worked with and had....
also we all are normal people looking pretty as the next person next to u...seriously....
i think what u saw that made u think ´´models´´ was the fact people did their best with makeup....as makeup can create a illusion...
i think during the assessment day..we all can put on makeup...and dress the part and act...its all a act...u know...put on the cutest shoes and stand up straight and walk as if we are models YES...
now we all can be models....
i once spent around 1.100 euros to fly to athens. for 3 days..and do a damn open day for ek..i didnt even get to ad.....and i dont live far away from athens either hehehehe
.i was nuts in the old days heheeh today i would never do this...
      im not rich either.....
but when u have a dream and want something badly and madly u do anything i guess hehehehe
      but i assure u...all the rejections all the tears..all the hassle..all the money...all the pain..all the effort...and years...WAS ALL WORTH IT...TO DO THIS ...
AS ITS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE....
      for me it was.....
this was ur first ad experience...if u do more...u will see the patterns...in my opinion this is truly a LOTTERY....
BUT one thing that i learned through the years attending these ad´s and ods´was we should never answer their questions or take up so much space or talk much...
they dont like candidates that speak too much during these days....
if they ask u a question directly than answer....
      just a tips...
they like quiet people who observe more....than rather speak.....
      crazy i know...
anyhow dont think too much about this ok....
u did this for the first time for etihad...
      u experienced this...
perhaps it wasnt ur time now...who knows...
but be proud u got the invite...and did this...well done....
now u move and and who knows perhaps in the future u can look back with excitement and say i wanna do it again
      heehehehe
wish u all the best dear!!!!!!

    2. Dear,
thank you, you are right. Oh, so it wasn´t 1000 :-)))) OK, you never know. As for the models -they chose really beautiful ones, but everybody was beautiful there. It is true that the chosen people did not speak at all :D They said just the simple things, so maybe that was the reason. :))) I will remain silent forever haha.
I would love to attend the EK interview that is 1 km from my place where I live - really - just to take a tram and in 3 mins I am there...ohhhhh..but they did not shortlist me...what can I do? Ooooh....life is hard. I will see what happens. Thank you again, dear girl.

    3. dear

sweety dont focus so much on beautiful people...i bet ur one of them too but ur not seeing it with ur own eyes....everyone are beautiful....
i wish people ´´the society´´ would understand that cabin crews arnt models....lol....
      its the illusion people see....heheeheh
      about being shortlisted for ek....
if u get the chance to attend a ek open day do so too..if they come close to u i mean....
as far as i know we dont need a invite to attend ek open days...as i attended a ek open day in nov last year...with no invite...u know this right?
or perhaps u applied for a ad for ek?
but i can see u have a interest in this....i can feel it...
so dont let go of that interest....it will come soon again.....
but u take good care of urself ok....remain positive....

    4. Hahaha, you are gooood!! :-) Yeah, I used to be a model when I was younger, but I am not the typical model - the Gisele Bundchen look :-) Haha, but they chose them, really! But you are right, this may be a coincidence. Well, this AD for EK is not an Open day, it is more like an assesment day for Etihad and there I was shortlisted, it was good. Here I am not. So I will wait if they chose me or not (it may help if I write I live 1 km to the place haha!!!) Thank you so much dear and have a wonderful time!

  74. George: They ask about: Who is the Chairman and who is the CEO - most mistakes are that people think that the Chairman is James Hogan, but he is not. The Chairman is Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahayn, The CEO is James Hogan. The President of the country is Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayn. It is good to know. They ask you basic questions about Abu Dhabi (average temperature - you should know that it is pretty high and state that you can live in this extreme conditions :-)) Then you should know all the 7 Emirates - oh god, I learnt them all by heart. What was it for :D You should look more like a model and if you know sth they will love you. BTW - don´t be nervous at all. SPEAK LOUDLY! Don´t be emarassing. And they check your hands, nails, etc. :-)

  75. Hi, I will be happy to contact the person who wrote: "I managed to book an interview on 12 mar. near my home town and I am very glad about that."
I've booked the AD on 12th of march as well :)Where are you from? It would be great to speak with someone who is going to attend the same event :)

And Cabincrewdreamer: your blog is very useful:) Thanks for sharing your experience. And thank you for being so positive.
I've already had some experience with the recruitment process. I've tried with QA. I got through the FI.I started with my medical clearance but at the same time I started to read all the opinions about QA (you know most of them are not very nice). So I decided that this is not what I want. In fact this is exactly what I want (to be a flight attendant) but not with that company. Last year I tried Emirates but - unfortunately I failed before the FI. And I felt really bad because I was hoping that things with EY will work out. The good thing is that I've gained a lot of experience.I think that you're absolutely right about two things:everything is a matter of LUCK and NEVER give up:)I hope that this time I'll succeed.

Have you ever wondered how the Emirates cabin crew accommodation looks like? Well this Emirates crew member has lived in many Emirates crew ...
